Chapter 500: Lying To a Living Polygraph
Mark threw Gunter’s body towards Kevin, and it landed with a thud in front of him.
Kevin grimaced once he saw how gruesomely Gunter had died. Gunter’s chest had a deep depression in it like it had been slammed with a giant club, but his back had a gaping hole where all of his internal organs had been blown out.
Mark’s Sonic Blast attacked the internal parts of the body rather than the surface, so when he used it together with Divergent Fist, it destroyed all of Gunter’s internal organs and shot them out through his back in a gory, bloody spectacle.
Even though Kevin was used to seeing some of the most gruesome things, he still couldn’t help the slight disgust that rose from inside him once he set eyes on Gunter. Kevin looked up and saw Mark staring at him with hollow, terrifying eyes that seemed like they could see right through him.
There was a bloodthirsty aura surrounding Mark at that moment that threatened to choke the life out of Kevin! Mark wasn’t even using his Killer’s Aura skill; it was just that his desire to erase Kevin was too strong for Kevin to ignore!
Kevin was in a dilemma. Normally, he had planned out an elaborate scheme that would end with Mark getting killed and the entire country falling to its knees. Kevin knew it wouldn’t be easy and even accounted for every possible situation that could interfere with his plan. But Kevin wasn’t ready for something like this.
‘He’s too strong.’
Kevin knew that Mark was KING, and he also knew that Mark somehow lost his powers after fighting against the Armageddon before. That’s why Mark was only an A-rank when he was first introduced to the world. When Kevin made this plan, he accounted for the possibility that Mark would gain back all his power as KING and even added extra contingencies to ensure everything went off without a hitch.
But Mark was nothing like what Kevin had predicted. Mark was far stronger than he had been as KING, and right now, Kevin knew he had seriously underestimated just how fast Mark could grow!
‘I have to get out of here.’
Kevin eyed the surroundings calmly as this thought crossed his mind. All hope of winning this fight had already been eliminated once Kevin saw Gunter’s dead body. Kevin knew he had to get out of there before Mark killed him too.
Kevin had about twenty anima as well as Orochimaru around him, and when Kevin looked inside himself, he saw he still had more than eighty percent of his mana. If he went all out, Kevin was certain he could get away from Mark. But first, he had to make an opening. Mark was too high-strung right now. Kevin had to somehow make him lower his guard so that when Kevin moved, Mark wouldn’t be able to follow. That was the only way an S-rank like Kevin would be able to escape from someone as powerful as Mark.
“Wait, Mark. Let’s talk about this first. What are you going to do? Kill me? You already know what I am. Even if you tried to kill me a million times, I would only come back over and over again a million and one times. It’s something my patron god has made sure of. So instead of doing something pointless, why don’t we come to an agreement?”
Mark stayed silent, and Kevin continued.
“I admit I’ve lost this round. I didn’t think you would be this powerful, and I underestimated you. It’s my loss. But if you kill me here, then it’ll be your loss too. The world outside the ALTERWORLD is going through something you couldn’t even imagine, and I’m the only one with the ability to stop it. If you let me get out of here, I’ll not only turn myself in, but I’ll even tell you how to call off my forces. How does that sound?”
Kevin put his hand up with a solemn look on his face. Anyone who saw him right there would immediately be certain that he was telling the truth. But Kevin had no idea he wasn’t talking to just anyone. He was talking to the KING.

[Styxwatcher’s Discernment has detected a lie!]
Right from the moment Kevin started talking, everything other than the fact that Mark couldn’t kill him had been a lie. Kevin had no way to stop what he started outside the ALTERWORLD, and he had no intention of turning himself in! This only served to fuel Mark’s anger, making it bubble up from his stomach until it tasted like something vile in his throat! He just wanted to kill something at that moment, and Mark’s entire body vibrated with power as he unleashed the full force of his might on the area!
DOON!
[Demonic Killer’s Aura has been activated!]
Kevin felt his entire body jolt from the force of Mark’s pressure, and Kevin didn’t need anyone to tell him right then that his lies had been seen through! How the fuck did Mark know!?
“Get him!”
Kevin immediately shouted out to his anima as he turned around and blasted off the ground before activating his third and final blessing! He didn’t even care to look back to see if Mark was following after him or not; Kevin just knew he had to get out of there before Mark caught him!
But Kevin had no idea the effects that Mark’s Demonic Killer’s Aura had on the anima around him. Just like Kevin felt the immense pressure from Mark’s aura, the anima surrounding him also felt the effects, and it managed to put fear into their hearts!
[Fear has been inflicted on the user’s opponents.]
[All enemies under the Fear condition have received a 50% reduction in combat ability!]
The anima didn’t even try to stop Mark due to their fear, and the only one that managed to react to Kevin’s orders fast enough was Orochimaru! The large snake was an Eldritch and was capable of withstanding Mark’s pressure better than the others! It lashed out, opening its mouth wide to try and swallow Mark whole, but Mark moved out of the way and allowed the snake to strike a large tree behind him!

Mark blasted off the ground, charging straight for Kevin without caring about the snake!
…
Kevin was practically flashing across the landscape as he tried his best to get out of there! He had appeared at the entrance of the forest after activating his blessing.
The blessing allowed him to switch places with any one thing that he had marked at the start of a fight, regardless of what that thing was. In a fight where Kevin was being overwhelmed, all he needed to do was switch places with his tag, and he’d have some time to escape.
Kevin had tagged a rock at the entrance of the forest before going in, and he thanked his patron god that he had. If he tried to run away from Mark at his normal speed, Kevin knew it wouldn’t even take a minute for Mark to catch him!
“Sasha! Get me out of here!”
