Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 513
Chapter 513: You Better Run!
Turner had the ability to interact with atoms, change them, and destroy them. With his power, Turner could not only do things like changing matter from one state to another, he could even change matter from one material to another. He could manipulate the molecules of silver and make it turn into gold. He could manipulate the molecules of iron and turn it to air. He could touch a metal bar and have it turn to a wooden stick. This was what Turner’s ability allowed him to do.
But having such an ability did not mean that Turner could just do anything he wanted. There were a lot of restrictions that were placed on him as he used his abilities. One of the worst restrictions was the amount of mana he consumed for even the simplest of tasks. It almost felt like a betrayal when Turner first felt how much mana he had left in him the first time he tried out using his power. Hephaestus gave him such a useful ability, but it was useless if changing the state of a material used more than fifty percent of his mana! And not only did he use up a lot of mana to manipulate materials, but Turner also had to know the molecular and atomic makeup of a material perfectly before he would be able to manipulate that material. Everything about both the material he wanted to manipulate as well as the material he wanted to create needed to be recorded in his brain before he could do anything to them. Without knowing this, the material would just not respond to his commands.
These two things destroyed all of Turner’s motivation to make the most of his abilities. He knew that with enough work he would become very strong, but Turner preferred to work in the Superhuman Alliance instead of going out to the field, so working on improving his blessing took a back seat. It was a miracle that Turner was able to become an A rank at all with how nonchalant he was about his blessing, and that just showed how powerful the blessing could have been in the right hands!
Turner raced down the street away from his sister and the other Superhuman agents, and he finally saw the large horde of anima that were chasing the humans down the road! Turner put his hand on the floor and narrowed his eyes as he concentrated, and once he saw the humans run past a certain point, he activated his blessing and poured mana into the ground!
ROARR~!
The concrete floor under the anima suddenly transformed back into cement and sand, and the anima were all too shocked to be able to get their footing right as they tumbled over each other and to the ground! The humans were stunned when they saw this, and some of them turned around to see what happened, but Turner just shouted to them to get moving! The anima would soon get back up!
Turner manipulated some of the oxygen and hydrogen in the air and used it to create water before he quickly added it to the concrete and sand that were in front of the anima’s feet! As the anima tried to get up from the ground and run forward, they were suddenly assaulted by the wet concrete and they missed their footing again, making them fall backward! Turner hardened the concrete just as a human who had been running away got past him, and he tried to trap all the anima in the concrete, but he grimaced as the anima easily broke through the hardened concrete and started to move forward more cautiously.
Turner heard a large siren echo from above him, and he glanced up for a moment to see a large anima circling in the air above them. Fuck. That could be a problem!
The anima in the air circled around them twice before it suddenly dived down to try and grab Turner! Turner felt inside him for how much mana he had left, and he frowned when he felt that there was only seventy percent remaining. This is exactly why his powers were so useless! He couldn’t use them for anything without using up all his mana like this!
Thankfully, Turner had a good image of air in his mind, and he also knew almost everything about the makeup and atomic arrangements of the molecules in the air, so he grabbed the air molecules that were right in front of him and forced them to stop moving!
This made all the air in front of him stop flowing, and they all formed into a solid wall that stood in the path between him and the flying anima!
BAM!
CRASH!
ROARR~!
The anima slammed into the invisible wall in shock, and even though it broke through the wall easily, the shock it felt from slamming into a wall at all was enough to make it lose interest in Turner for a moment! Turner saw the land anima that he had been holding back were starting to get back to their feet and move forward, and he immediately used more than ten percent of his mana to manipulate the buildings on each side of the road!
This area was the upper district of City C, and it was one of the most popular areas for businesses and hotels to set up their headquarters. There were multiple high-rise buildings littering the side of the street, and even though some of them had already collapsed, there were more than enough of them for Turner to use in burying the anima!
‘I’ll need to move once I weaken the pillars. If I stay here, then I’ll get buried as well. But I don’t even have the speed for that. I might end up getting crushed before I can get out.’
Turner was worrying about how dangerous his plan was, but he didn’t let that stop him from moving forward with it. He steeled himself and decided that if this was where he was going to die, then he was not going to die alone! He was taking all these bastards down with him!
Turner poured out as much mana as he could spare while still leaving just enough for him to be able to move quickly, and he manipulated the molecules in the pillars of the buildings around them and turned them to dust just as the large anima were starting to get their bearings back! The anima were about to charge for Turner again, but the sound of loud rumbling and groaning was enough to draw their attention to the skyscrapers that were starting to come down!
Turner immediately stood from the ground and bolted! Turner knew that the anima coming were all high-level disaster class and above, and he also knew that it would be very difficult for the buildings to cause any real damage to them. So he had manipulated not only the buildings beside the anima but also the buildings beside himself as well as those behind him. This was to make sure that the anima would find it hard to follow after him even if they managed to survive getting crushed by the building!
