Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 527
Chapter 527: The Sun Rises
In the aircraft flying towards City G, Mark sat with his head leaned back, pressed against the hull of the plane, calmly trying to get as much rest as he could. He had just come out of one battle, so there was a bit of fatigue in his system that he wanted to purge. But a voice from in front of him drew Mark’s attention away from his meditation and forced him to open his eyes.
“GHOST, I’ve been hearing a lot about your exploits. Even in a country as militaristic as my own, we can’t help but be impressed by your abilities. Tell me, what exactly is your blessing?”
Ida spoke up in a calm voice that showed just how relaxed she was. Even though they were going into a battle that might claim their lives, she did not look the least bit nervous. She grinned at Mark in an almost seductive way, and though Mark couldn’t deny she was beautiful, the smile only served to piss him off.
“My blessing is none of your business. Just do what you came here for and stay out of my way.”
Ida frowned for a moment before she raised a placating hand.
“Okay, perhaps I went too far asking something so personal. I guess the rumors about you not revealing your blessing to anyone are true. But on a different note, if you are dissatisfied with the American government, what do you say about coming over to Germany as a military liaison? We are allies with your country, so I’m sure they won’t be able to do anything if you did something like that.”
Ida’s German accent was thick as she spoke, and Mark could tell she was a lot more serious about him coming to Germany. His Styxwatcher’s Discernment didn’t even go off, so it was obvious she wasn’t lying. But Mark had no intention of doing something like that.
If Mark was going to leave this country, then he was going to Japan.
It was the only country he knew after America that imposed the least amount of sanctions on their superhumans, and the mere fact they were enemies of America was enough to draw him to them. Mark would go there just to spite the American government.
But for now, Mark had no intention of leaving.
“I’m not interested.”
Mark said this as he stood up and started to walk towards the rear of the plane. Everyone on the plane looked up at him curiously, wondering what he was about to do. They weren’t there —
DOON!
Suddenly, as if they all had a premonition at the exact same time, they felt it! It was like death itself was pressing down on them from all sides! There was this deep, intense, primal instinct telling them to run and hide immediately, and most of them almost felt their hearts burst through their ribcages from how fast they were beating.
The voice of the pilot reached them from the comms.
[We’ve entered the airspace above City G. I have ID on the Armageddon-class anima, and we’ll be above it in one minute. You have a thirty-second window for descent. May God be with you all.]
The rear end of the plane slowly started to open up, revealing the city below to them, and they couldn’t believe what they saw down there. The city was on fire! Everything had been drowned in a sea of flames that was spreading rapidly across the landscape! All the houses in the immediate area had been broken down, and now there was a large clearing in the center of the city where the anima and superhumans were battling with reckless abandon. The number of anima moving through the land and sky below them was impossible to count.
If not for the fact that they were flying far above the anima’s flight path, the plane would’ve been swarmed already.
And in the middle of all this, the Armageddon-class anima stood like a bastion of destruction.
“It’s huge.”
One of the soldiers couldn’t help but exclaim quietly, and no one would blame him. There were multiple superhumans surrounding the anima, trying their best to hold it back, but the anima just pulled its head back, and the entire region lit up in an ominous glow as it unleashed a beam of pure energy that erased everything around it!
KA-TOOM!!
BOOM!!
A massive explosion lit up the night sky, and the soldiers had to try their best not to retreat right then and there. They were going down to fight against that?
Mark narrowed his eyes at the monster as he took in a breath to calm himself. This wasn’t the first time he was facing an Armageddon.
Just make sure you end it quicker this time. You can’t destroy the country like last time.
Mark sighed.
“Are you sure you can handle that thing? I mean, you’re the main fighting force, and they said we should follow behind you, but if you can’t handle it, I won’t mind helping out… if you ask nicely.”
Ida walked up to Mark from behind, fiddling with a backpack, and Mark only turned to give her a calm stare that betrayed no emotion before he stepped forward and fell from the plane.
One of the soldiers behind ran forward, holding a backpack in his hand.

“Wait! Fucking hell! He doesn’t have his fucking chute!”
The man spoke in thick German, and Ida felt excitement bubble up from her belly.
“Hahahahahahah! Oh yes, GHOST is definitely something different!”
Ida laughed jovially before she suddenly threw her bag away and shouted an order to her soldiers while running forward!
“Don’t make me get down there before you, you fools!”
The soldiers all watched in shock as Ida also fell from the plane, and they only glanced at one another for a second before they threw their bags away and ran forward, cursing GHOST in their heads!
…
The wind buffeted against Mark’s face like a maelstrom as he free-fell from the sky. His eyes were focused entirely on the monster beneath him, and he didn’t even allow himself to enjoy the brilliant view he got from being so high up. Mark passed through the clouds, and he began to hear the screeches and roars of flying anima all around him as they finally noticed his presence.
His mere presence was enough to draw their attention, and before long, there was an entire army of anima free-falling behind him!
Down on the ground, the superhumans were in despair. The feeling of knowing you cannot defeat an opponent regardless of what you do and the knowledge that you aren’t going to survive to see the sunrise the next day tormented them. More than half of them had already begun to entertain thoughts of abandoning the mission. Just like everyone else, they also had families and loved ones. They didn’t want to die.
Luna, surprisingly, was also one of those considering abandoning the mission. It seemed hopeless, no matter what she did. Luna wasn’t delusional. She knew if she continued this fight, she would die here. Even as a newly promoted ELITE Rank III, she didn’t have the stamina or strength to stand up to this monster. And Luna also knew if she died, Arit would be alone.
Luna had no idea that Mark was already back in the real world, so she made it her responsibility to look after Arit until Mark returned. Even now, Luna still believed that Mark would find his way back. But if she died against this monster, then it would all be for nothing. She was sure the government would take Arit and try her for murder – or, even worse, experiment on her to see how her powers worked. Luna was only a few moments away from retreating.
But then, the sun began to rise.
