Chapter 528: The First Sensation of Pain
A golden yellow glow filled the night sky in its brilliant majesty, and every single entity—human or anima—turned up as one to see it. Luna looked up as well. It was still an hour until sunrise, so what —
“Mark…”
It was Arit who spoke from beside her. Luna hadn’t even noticed Arit come up to her because of how focused she had been on the figure free-falling from the sky. Luna could feel a wide smile slowly stretching across her face as her advanced vision caught sight of the person’s face.
“He’s back.”
[Crown of The Golden Horizon] has been activated!
[Gauntlets of The Thunder God] has been activated!
The silver and black gauntlets appeared over Mark’s arms as he free-fell from the sky, and his body became encased in a golden light that lit up the entire region.
Once Mark activated the Crown, he could feel the Active Effects taking root in all the superhumans fighting on the ground below him.
[Active Effects [Present only when Skill is active]]
– A golden hue will appear around the user, entrancing those around you and boosting their fighting spirit.
– All allies and enemies will be drawn to the user’s location.
– All allies will receive a 20% increase in strength for thirty minutes.
– All darkness or demonic-based skills used against the user will receive a 50% increase in strength.
– All darkness or demonic-based skills used by the user will receive a 50% reduction in strength.
– All land and air animals related to light will view the user as their master and follow his orders.
…
The superhumans began to feel their stamina increasing rapidly. Rather than the tired, lethargic feeling they had when facing off against the monster, it was like they suddenly gained the strength and courage to keep on fighting for another few days!
The anima on the ground suddenly joined the air-based anima in their desperate charge as they also began to race toward where they thought Mark would land! The skill already had the ability to draw all enemies towards the user, but Mark’s innate presence was also serving as an agitator, making the anima in the area desperate to get to him and kill him as quickly as possible.
The large Armageddon roared in agitation as it rose its head into the air to face off against the newest enemy that had appeared. It instinctively knew as well that this one was different from all the others. It was not weak like the humans that had been attacking it all this time. It had to be destroyed before it could get to the ground!
An ominous light shone from the monster’s crystal as it prepared its laser beam, and all the flying anima that had been following behind Mark started to disperse out of the way, trying to avoid getting hit by the attack!
Mark narrowed his eyes as he waited for just the right moment, and he was not disappointed when he saw the Armageddon unleash a city-destroying blast of energy towards him!
KA-TOOM!!
[Aegis of Ares]!
PHWOOM!
A golden shield bloomed to life around Mark immediately, and the laser beam slammed into it before being dispersed to either side harmlessly! Mark was still falling at a rapid pace, heading toward the monster, and he pulled his hand back with a roar!
[Critical Hit]!!
BOOM!
Mark’s fist slammed into the monster’s face with enough force to send sonic booms across the area, driving it back by a step and making it grab hold of a building behind it to stop itself from falling over! Its laser tore across the landscape and destroyed a large portion of the area before the monster turned it off to try and get its bearings right again. Even though the monster already expected Mark to be strong, it was still shocked by the first sensation of pain it had felt since it was born!
Mark landed on top of another building opposite the monster. There were superhumans standing on this building, and they all looked toward him reverently, as if they were only seeing him for the first time in their lives.
“GHOST. It’s GHOST!”

“We’re saved! We’re Saved!”
“He managed to hurt the monster! No one could do that before!”
“He’s gotten stronger!”
“We need to help him!”
The superhumans felt a rush of adrenaline in their bodies when they saw GHOST, and they were all desperate to try and help him, but once the large Armageddon-class anima started to get up again, they slowly began to lose their enthusiasm, and once it turned its head towards where Mark was standing, they all ran away!
Mark had already deactivated his [Crown of The Golden Horizon] and the [Aegis of Ares], but when he looked towards his status tab to see how much mana he had left, he couldn’t help but frown in annoyance.
[Mana: 6900/11515]
Seven seconds. Mark only had them both on for about seven seconds combined, and they were able to bleed through almost a third of his mana. Mark had still not fully recovered from his fight against Gunter and Salazar, so his mana was not at full capacity before he came to this fight, but this was insane!
Mark decided that he would have to find a way to win this without using the [Crown of the Golden Horizon] again.
‘I need to get more mana soon.’
“MARK! MARK!”
Arit’s voice carried over the distance from where she and Luna were standing on the ground! Arit was already flying into the air to try and get to Mark, but when Mark turned to her, he had such a serious expression on his face that it immediately made her realize that she shouldn’t be distracting him. This was a serious situation, and she had to exercise restraint right now.
Luna reached her hand up and brought Arit back down to the ground while watching Mark closely. This entire situation reminded Luna a lot of what they went through together in the Game of Gods a long time ago when Mark was facing off against Merlin, and Luna could do nothing but watch and wish him luck in his battle.
But Luna was not the weak girl she was when she was in that game. Luna was a lot stronger now, and there was something she could do for Mark now!
“Make sure GHOST isn’t swarmed by the other anima!”
Luna spoke up, and all of the superhumans that had been looking up to GHOST turned towards her as she started to walk forward to meet with the large crowd of anima that was desperately clawing their way up the building Mark was standing on.
“Remember the fight between KING and the Armageddon. It would not have lasted that long if not for the anima that were swarming him! This time, it has to be different! We can’t just stand around as he fights for our country again! We have to help him! Keep all the anima away from him so he can fight freely!”
Luna’s experience as one of the most seasoned guild masters in America proved to be very useful as her authoritative side came to life and urged the superhumans around her into action!
