Chapter 531: Bringing The House Down
The blast that the anima released from its crystal was dangerous enough to kill an ELITE Rank and seriously injure a PHANTASMAL. If Mark just goes towards the crystal to attack it, the monster would have a clear shot with its laser. That meant Mark had to find a way to either sneak up on the monster or put it in such a state that it couldn’t use the crystal to attack him while he was going in for the kill.
‘And since I haven’t seen any sort of eyes on that monster, I can only assume that it sees through the crystal. Trying to attack the crystal might mean opening myself to a counterattack before I can get close.’
Mark’s feet landed on the ground and he suddenly dashed forward as the large monster tried to stomp him under its feet! Mark darted into a house at the side, and the monster grabbed the house before swinging its feet towards the entrance, sending rock and debris flying in every direction as the building was destroyed!
The house started to collapse and the monster lifted it up, tossing it into the air before using its crystal to fire off a massive blast of energy that obliterated it to nothing!
BOOM!
A massive explosion lit up the sky and the monster growled low in its throat as it waited for any sign of movement from the destruction it had caused.
“You fucking idiot! I was right next door!”
A voice suddenly shouted from above, and the monster’s attention was drawn towards it. Down on the ground, all the superhumans and anima that had been fighting looked up in shock as a large dark shadow blocked out the setting moonlight. It was undoubtedly Mark, but they couldn’t see him at all because of the large building that was currently being dropped right on top of the monster!
The anima didn’t even have enough time to activate its laser before it was blindsided by the fucking building!
BOOM!
It was thrown to the ground from the force and it roared in anger as it immediately activated its laser, blasting straight through the remains of the building and attempting to kill Mark at the same time, but Mark had already dodged to the side! He flew through the air for a few moments before a platform made from solid ice suddenly appeared under his feet! He muttered a quick thanks to Luna before he shot himself toward the anima while releasing as much of his aura as possible!
‘Come on. Look at me. Look at me. Look at me, you bastard!’
Mark knew that the anima was always attracted to his aura. No matter what Mark did to try and hide from the anima, once he released his aura—even a little bit—they would swarm him for some fucked up reason.
But rather than cursing this phenomenon as bad luck, Mark decided that he was going to use it to his own advantage instead. The anima was currently in an agitated state that would normally make any creature lose its mind and Mark was banking on the anima looking towards him once he released his aura to attack the crystal in the middle of its head!
But things were never going to be that easy!
The moment Mark released his aura, the anima turned towards him sharply. But rather than being shocked or surprised, the anima’s instincts screamed at it and forced it to immediately activate its most potent form of defense.
Attack.
The anima’s crystal surged to life right in front of Mark, and Mark cursed in frustration as he realized that the anima really could see through its crystal! That wasn’t a crystal, it was a fucking eye! The Armageddon was actually a cyclops with one hardened eye!
“Mark!”
Arit shouted in fear once she saw the anima’s laser activating in front of Mark! Even though she was in the middle of her own battle, Arit had been desperately watching Mark during his fight and she felt fear grip her heart as she saw that Mark was floating in the air defenselessly! Arit easily killed the disaster-class anima that had been bothering her all this while and turned towards Mark fully! He was going to get hit by the laser! Arit’s instinct told her to run towards him and protect him! She was already ready to fly off and take on the laser instead of Mark, but Mark’s next action proved that she never even needed to be afraid.
Mark reached his arm to the side and his [Fang That Links The Heavens] shot out from his palm and latched onto a building in the distance! Mark pulled himself to the side and the deadly laser phased past him and slammed into the ground below, eviscerating another large portion of the city! Although what Mark did was simple, to those watching, it was seen as an impossible move since none of them could see the chains! They all just saw Mark dragging himself towards the building using nothing at all! The only ones who were able to tell that Mark had used the chains were the Children of Hephaestus due to the penalty applied to the chains when they were given to Mark.
Mark landed inside the building and immediately moved again to avoid the laser beam that he knew was coming!
KA-TOOM!
And just like Mark expected, the Armageddon turned towards the building he ran into and immediately unleashed another blast on it, destroying the building and reducing it to rubble! The monster waited and looked around cautiously as it tried to anticipate Mark’s next attack, and Mark ran through a building on the other side of the beast while trying to think up a new plan of attack. One that doesn’t almost kill him this time.!
‘Jumping straight for the crystal was a fucking bad idea. I need to find a way to distract it enough so it doesn’t unleash that fucking laser.’
[Mark, are you there?]
Pat’s voice suddenly came through the comms, and Mark kept his eyes on the monster while answering quickly.
“Yeah, I’m here. What is it?”
Mark crouched in a ready stance, preparing himself to launch toward the beast, but he waited and listened to Pat first before launching himself forward.
[The area you’re fighting in is too close to City S, you’ve got to move it towards the northern part of the continent. There’s a small city over there that has enough space for a fight between you two. If you take it over there, then there shouldn’t be any casualties at all.]

Mark nodded at the idea of sending the monster elsewhere. Mark had been worried that the fight against the Armageddon was getting swarmed by weaker anima and superhumans for some time now. Going all out would end up killing a lot of the superhumans who can’t get out of the way quickly enough.
But Mark frowned once he heard Patrick’s suggestion about where he should send the monster. Mark knew that what Patrick said was sensible, but for some reason, the conversation that Mark had with Henry came to the front of his mind, and suddenly Mark was at a loss.
