Chapter 555: So We’re Really Doing This?
Mark left the hallway and went towards where he could feel his girls while thinking about what he just heard.
‘So someone knows that I have the Mortal Legend skill. Doesn’t that mean they also know I have a system? But how did they find out? I’ve never told anyone about my system, much less about the powers my system gives me. Could it have been one of the gods that told their follower? The gods know what sort of powers I have, so it’s possible that one of them said something.’
Mark called out to Sozin and tried to ask him about it. Even though Mark was happy about the benefits that he was getting from having these many ‘followers,’ Mark didn’t like the fact that some random person out there had knowledge of his powers. Sozin only sent back a single, intense answer.
[Comment from GoG: I know who she is, but I am not getting involved, so you’re on your own here.]
Mark stopped with an incredulous look on his face. Isn’t this bastard my patron god? What the fuck does he mean by ‘I’m on my own’?
‘Is this another one of your fucked up bets with the other gods? I swear, you’re going to get me killed with this shit one day! Someone knows about my system and they’re telling their followers about it. This time it’s just a priestess, but next time it might be someone that wants to harm me or those around me. If you know who it is, then just tell me!’
There was no response from Sozin, and Mark just sighed as he realized that Sozin wasn’t going to say anything. Mark finally felt Luna and Arit very close by, and he entered the room on his left.
“No, Luna, not that! You’re going to burn it! Take the cake out already!”
“Sorry, sorry! Wait, why is it white!? Isn’t it meant to be brown!?”
“Did you use vanilla coloring? Shit, you’re not meant to! We’ll just take it like that! Luna, check the rice! Check the rice!”
“Right, just one minute… Mark! No, you shouldn’t see this! What are you doing here!? Go! Go!”
Luna blushed crimson when she saw Mark standing at the door, looking over the kitchen in disbelief, and she quickly tried to get him to leave so he wouldn’t see the mess. It was an absolute disaster area, and she really didn’t want Mark to see her fail like this.
Luna and Arit woke up earlier, and Arit told Luna that she wanted to make breakfast for Mark. Luna was surprised and said that there were servants for that, but Arit just shook her head and insisted since she wanted to do it herself. Luna could tell that making Mark’s meals was something Arit really enjoyed doing, so she decided to follow along since she didn’t have anything to do. Arit was more than happy for the help since Luna said she was a good cook, but it turned out that even though Luna was capable of making basic meals that were passable, anything involving flour and the oven was like quantum physics to her. She was a horrid baker.
Mark had no idea what they had been trying to do here, but from what he could see, it obviously wasn’t working.
Luna and Arit were both dressed simply in jeans and shirts. They wore aprons and were covered in flour and dough from trying to create… something.
Mark honestly had no idea what was going on in here.
Once Luna said Mark’s name, Arit also turned to him with a blush and told him that he shouldn’t be there! Mark rose a brow at her and told Luna to turn off the oven. Something was going to start burning very soon. Luna yelped and quickly went to do that, and Mark just chuckled as he started to enter the kitchen calmly.
“What the hell are you two doing?”
Arit was the one that spoke up.
“We’re trying to make some pastries. I don’t know how she does it, but Luna manages to be both a good cook and a horrible baker at the same time!”
Arit chuckled at that, and Luna blushed and told Arit to stop it while speaking up for herself!
“I’m trying my best, okay!”
Mark just chuckled at Luna’s reaction and leaned down to give Arit a kiss. Arit held Mark’s face gently and kissed him deeply, and when they pulled apart, Arit laughed when she saw that his face was covered in flour.
“You look like a snowman.”
Arit tried to clean the flour off, but she only ended up making it worse. Instead, she just put another peck on Mark’s lips with a laugh. Arit then reached up and pinched Talia on the cheeks while the girl laughed. Once they were done, Mark turned to look at Luna and saw that she was glancing over at them discreetly while crouching to take the pastries out of the oven. She was trying her best not to seem like she was even there at all, but Mark knew that she was just unsure of herself.
Last night could have been seen as a spur-of-the-moment thing by most people, like a one-night stand that just happened because of how heated they all were. Mark knew that if he just ignored Luna now, she would try her best to act like last night was just sex and nothing else.
But Mark wasn’t going to let that happen. They already started this, so Mark was going to see it through to the end.
Mark walked over to Luna as she stood from beside the oven, and Luna turned to Mark and looked up at him with a small, unsure smile on her face.
“Hey, good morning. Sorry, I thought we could make something for you, but it turns out I’m not that good with the oven. Breakfast is going to be a little burnt.”
Mark just laughed and leaned down while dragging Luna closer to him, and Luna’s eyes widened in shock as Mark kissed her deeply. Luna was only stunned for a few seconds before she stepped closer to Mark and put her hands around his waist while pressing into the kiss. A low moan escaped from Luna’s throat as they separated, and Luna felt a giddy feeling, like a thousand fireworks going off in her belly, as she pressed her red face into Mark’s chest while talking.

“So last night wasn’t a dream. We’re really doing this?”
Mark smiled down at Luna and ran his hand through her hair gently.
“Yeah, we’re doing this. I’ll try to make it work for all of us, I promise. I’ll make you both happy.”
Luna nodded into Mark’s chest, and Mark kissed the top of her head before turning to leave. Arit smiled up at Mark as he passed to leave the kitchen, and Mark kissed the top of her head too before speaking up.
“I’ll get out of your hair. I have no idea what you guys are doing in here, but it smells great.”
Arit just chuckled in disbelief because she knew Mark was only trying to make them feel better.
“Oh, get out of here. Everything’s burnt!”
Luna blushed in embarrassment, and Mark shrugged and grinned.
“That doesn’t mean it doesn’t smell great. I’ll give it a taste when you’re done.”
