Chapter 567: Who Wishes To Test Me?
The demons looked up at Mark as they listened to his speech, and the more he spoke, the more they felt their confidence and resolve strengthening. Many of them had been worried that summoning a new demon lord would do nothing for their war. They thought this was just a desperate attempt to salvage a war that had already been lost. But when they heard Mark’s confidence, they couldn’t help but feel rejuvenated. If they really put their hope in him, could they win this war?
It felt like they could.
Even Arit was a little stunned by Mark’s speech. Arit had only been in a battle with Mark once when they were fighting the Armageddon, so she was surprised by how intense Mark could be when he was serious. Arit felt a small smile tugging at her lips as she discovered something new about her lover.
Suddenly, the large orc that Mark had been watching stepped forward and spoke up with a growl.
“How can we know that you possess the power to back up the claims that you make? You haven’t done anything that would allow us to trust you.”
“Grunn!”
The lamia from before called the orc’s name in irritation as she heard what he said! How could he disrespect the demon lord like that!? Does he want to be killed!?
Mark’s expression slowly changed, going from his calm, reassuring look to a more glaring disposition that immediately put pressure on everyone in the room. Mark’s stare bore down on Grunn, making the orc focus all his attention on Mark immediately.
When Mark spoke up, it was with an authority that promised death.
“Would you like to test me?”
Mark did not have his [Demonic Killer’s Aura] skill since the system only allowed him to keep two of his active skills, but that did not mean that Mark’s presence was not imposing anymore. With the number of life-or-death battles he had been in, Mark’s stare and mana alone were capable of putting anyone standing against him under immense pressure! Grunn felt like he was in the presence of death itself.
The giant orc seemed to realize the error he had made, and he wisely chose to step back.
Mark kept his gaze on him for some time, making sure that the orc was well and truly subdued. Mark was not going to allow any form of fucking rebellion to stew in his army. If the orc showed even an ounce of rebellion, then Mark was not above killing him right there. The [Fangs that Link The Heavens] had already crept through the room unseen, and they were looming right over the orc’s head, calmly waiting for Mark’s order to attack. But after a while without any reaction, Mark was satisfied that the orc was not going to act out, and he pulled the fangs back.
But before Mark could speak again, the goblin wearing ornate armor spoke up.
“Although I disagree with the method he used in carrying it out, I must admit that I too am curious about your power, my Lord. It is no insult to your greatness, but we would be grateful if you showed us something. Anything at all that would give us the confidence to place our lives in your hands. If it is not too much to ask.”
The goblin said it a lot more respectfully, but he was basically asking for the same thing. He wanted Mark to put on a show that would allow the demons to know that he actually had the power that he claimed to have.
Mark frowned in irritation, and the goblin had to stand his ground as a wave of Mark’s pressure spread across the room. Mark took a breath, trying not to get annoyed since he knew that they were not asking for too much. The demons had been at war for a while now, so of course they would want a leader that they could trust was strong enough to defend them.
But the mere fact that they were asking someone they had forcefully summoned to this world for such a thing pissed Mark off. In the eyes of the demons, Mark was called here by their own machinations. They didn’t know that the goddess had a hand in it, and they didn’t know that all this was just a game to Mark. As far as they knew, they were the ones who called Mark here and made him their king.
So, why are they now asking him to prove himself to them like they deserved it?
“What gives you the right to question him? You called him here to help you with your war, and now you are demanding proof of his power?”
Surprisingly, it was Arit who spoke up from his side, drawing attention to herself. The members of the council in the room had all been ignoring Arit’s presence since they entered the room, but once she spoke up, it was like all their eyes were drawn to her, and she glared back at them all. Being in her queen form allowed Arit to completely ignore the tension in the room, and that daring confidence she always felt in this form came to the forefront as she continued.
“The KING should just let you all die if this is how you treat the people you are asking for help.”
The tension in the room rose, and Mildred couldn’t stop herself from speaking up in anger.
“You had better watch your tongue.”
Arit’s glare intensified.
“Or what, bitch?”
Mildred took a step forward threateningly, and Mark raised a hand, stopping everyone in the room and drawing attention back to himself. Mark was angry that they would ask him to prove himself, but in a way, he could understand that they didn’t want to put all their hope in someone who couldn’t fight properly.
But Mark was not a showhorse that they could stand around and watch while he performed tricks.
“Very well then. If you want to test me, then I have no problem with that. Let someone step forward and volunteer.”
The room went silent as Mark’s words weighed down on them all. The members of the council looked from person to person, wondering who would be willing to step forward, and Mark made sure that his intense aura never died down to ensure that whoever stepped up actually meant it.

The council members had actually wanted to put Mark up against some of their best soldiers in an arena to show him off to the soldiers and make them acknowledge him, so Mark trying to fight someone in the throne room at that moment was very unorthodox.
Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, the orc general that had first put forward the challenge stepped forward and reached behind him to grab his large axe.
“I shall be your –”
Grab!
WOOSH!
BAM!!
The large orc suddenly felt something grab him around the neck before he could finish talking, and all the words immediately died in his throat as he was thrown through the air like a fucking rag doll! Before he even knew what was going on, he had broken through the large ornate door of the throne room, leaving a large hole in it as he was tossed out into the hallway!
