Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 579
Chapter 579: Reinforcements
‘The smoke came from the outpost close to the mining town. Don’t tell me they weren’t able to hold the Angels back for even this long?’
Mark turned to Mildred at his side and told her to immediately take a small group of the fastest flyers in the Air Force to survey the horizon and see what was happening.
Mildred immediately called out for the Griffon Riders, and five demons came forward and followed after her. Arit called out, telling Mark she would go along to make sure nothing went wrong, and Mark just nodded his acceptance and told her to be careful.
Mildred frowned as she saw Arit following after them from a short distance. Mildred upped her speed even more, but Arit was still able to follow them easily. Mildred clicked her teeth in annoyance and decided she didn’t care as she went to do as her Lord commanded.
The seven demons made their way toward the horizon to see what was going on, and they all stopped as one when they got close enough to see the blurry image of the outpost in the distance.
There was a sea of white coming toward them.
The demons didn’t need to think much before they figured out exactly what they were seeing. More than three hundred Angels were flying toward them at breakneck speed! Mildred immediately shouted to all of them to get back—they had to report this to the Lord immediately! At the pace the Angels were moving, it wouldn’t even take them two minutes before they got to the battle!
Mildred turned around and was stunned to see that Arit was already gone! The second Arit caught a glimpse of the white horde on the horizon, she didn’t even wait for anyone to say anything—she had already turned and flown straight back to Mark to report! Mildred cursed as she quickly flew back as well. That bitch was just trying to one-up her, wasn’t she? Mildred was the one Mark sent for this mission, and Arit was trying to steal her chance to gain some favor with the demon lord by reporting something this important before Mildred could do it!
Fucking bitch.
Mildred immediately started to fly back toward Mark with an angry sneer on her face.
Arit, meanwhile, didn’t even care about what Mildred was thinking or feeling. All Arit knew was that she had to get the information to Mark as quickly as possible, so Arit didn’t bother waiting for Mildred to say anything before she left.
By the time Mildred got back to Mark, he was already listening to Arit tell him about the forces coming from the distance. Mildred openly frowned at Arit, but once Mark turned to her, she quickly subdued the anger she felt as Mark asked her to give an estimate of the strength of the forces coming towards them.
Mark knew Mildred was better at gauging the strength of the angel magic users than Arit, as Mildred had been fighting against them for longer. Arit wouldn’t be able to give him an accurate estimate.
Mildred immediately spoke up.
“There are at least two Soldiers in the S-tier and three in the A-tier. The rest of them are all B-tier and below.”
How the fuck did they get this many soldiers here this fast?
Mark grit his teeth and turned to look down at his soldiers still fighting against the small army of Angels, who were somehow holding on even in the midst of such unfavorable odds. Mark had only brought about two hundred soldiers with him to take this outpost, and even though he knew his soldiers were not tired from the small skirmish they just had with the Angels, it was obvious they were not in any state to go up against a force of about five hundred.
If such a large number of angels came here with those many powerful soldiers, then there was a chance that he would lose even more of his soldiers. The demos were suffering from a serious lack of fighting power, so pointlessly losing any soldiers right now was not even an option.
“My Lord… shall we retreat?”
Mark’s eyes narrowed into a glare the moment Mildred mentioned retreating, and she immediately knew she had made a mistake by even suggesting this. Mark told Mildred never to mention such a thing again with a sneer on his face before he turned back to the horizon.
Mildred seemed to deflate when she saw the disappointment on Mark’s face and she decided not to say anything more unless she was asked to. It was better not to make her image ever worse in the eyes of the demon lord.
Mark knew that retreating here would be the same as giving up both the mining and trading towns, and he was not going to allow all of their work to be in vain.
Mark gave his orders.
“Leave half of the soldiers here under Riger and tell him to finish off the remaining Angels that are resisting. The rest of the soldiers and all the other generals are with me. We are going to kill the Angels.”
Mark urged the griffon forward, and it screeched loudly before flapping its wings and flying into the air. Mark had only learned the basics of flying this creature this morning, so it was a little weird for him to use it, but his [Crown of the Golden Horizon] skill gave him an affinity with all air and land animals, so it was not difficult for him to get the hang of flying with the griffon helping him out.
Mildred went off to give his instructions to the rest of the army, and Arit followed after him as he soared toward the horizon.
On the other side of the region, the horde of Angels was advancing forward through the sky at breakneck speed as they charged for the mining outpost. Nearly all the demon soldiers protecting the trading town had been killed, so there were no demons coming behind them, allowing the Angels to focus completely on the mining outpost.
The head Angel, a tall, lanky man with long golden hair reaching all the way down to his shoulders and large wings with a span of nearly three meters, glanced at the horizon with a frown as he noticed something coming towards them. The angel’s name was Michael, and he was the strongest member of the Angel forces present on the demon continent. An S-tier with a powerful arsenal of Light magic that could vaporize any demon with a single shot.
He raised his hand calmly, signaling to the rest of the Angels behind him to stop their advance, and the Angels all obeyed as they saw the griffon-riding demon flying toward them with another demon girl following beside him.
Two?

The demons were only sending two soldiers to intercept them?
‘Are they here to try and strike a deal? No, they might be using this as a tactic to stall us. We’ll kill them the moment they are close enough.’
Michael thought this as he prepared his magic to release light on the demons once they were close enough. But before the two demons got to them, Michael saw a large group of demons—nearly a hundred of them—running toward the Angels from the horizon. The demons all had a frenzied, mad look on their faces that gave them a fearless expression, but Michael knew it was just worthless bravado that would be snuffed out soon. Once the demons saw the number of angels here, Michael was sure that they would all lose their confidence and it would be easy to eradicate them!
