Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 582
Chapter 582: The Way of Demons
A shield of light appeared in front of him at the same time that Mark threw the Lightning bolt, but like always, the light couldn’t stand up against Mark’s attacks at all due to the passive effects of the Crown! The light shield broke like glass, and a gasp escaped Michael as the bolt flew through him and burst out from behind!
BZZTT!!
SQUELCH!
The soldiers around the two fighters quieted down as they saw Michael getting impaled, and it wasn’t long before Michael finally coughed and fell from the sky with a dull thud. The demons went into an even more maddened frenzy, and the angels that had watched the fight all seemed to realize how dire of a situation they were currently in!
Mark had not only killed the two S-tiers who were with them, but he also killed the three A-tiers who had gone to help out with the fight! So right now, the only soldiers left were B-tier and below, and they all knew they would not stand a chance against Mark at all! If any of them tried to fight him, they were sure they were going to be killed!
Even with their superior numbers, the angels felt the weight of defeat weighing down on them, and it wasn’t long before the first person turned tail and ran!
This caused a frenzy among the other fighters, and it wasn’t long before all the angels began to fly away, trying to retreat. But Mark was not going to allow anyone to escape! They came here for war, and there was no way Mark would allow even one of them to run from the fight they started.
Mark’s hand lit up with an iridescent blue light that crackled with power, and a lightning bolt that was a meter long formed in his palm! He took aim with it at the angel that was furthest away from him, drew back, and shot it!
BZZT!
BOOM!
The lightning bolt struck true, destroying the angel in one hit before the angel’s charred and lifeless body fell to the ground! Mark shouted out to his troops with authority,
“Don’t let even one of them escape! Kill them all!”
The demons roared in agitation as they chased down their enemies. The demons that could fly carried the dark mages in the group along as they chased the angels and began firing dark spells at their backs, killing off multiple angels at the same time like flies.
Mark’s griffon landed with a heavy gust of wind beside him, and Mark patted it on the side of the head gratefully before he climbed on, and the griffon took off into the sky to chase down the angels! Mark’s hand was alight with the blue light of his lightning bolt as his eyes narrowed into a glare! He began to snipe the angels like some sort of vengeful god, killing them with lightning bolts of immense power and dropping two or three of them with each attack!
Mark knew that he could just allow the angels to leave now that they were retreating, but Mark was not going to allow even a single one of them to escape! At the start of all this, Mark gave them two chances to retreat or surrender, and he promised that he would spare their lives if they did that. Since none of them were willing to accept this offer, it’s only right that he gives them a taste of their own medicine.
The chase lasted for all of ten minutes, with the Angels trying desperately to escape and the demons launching their attacks of lightning and dark magic from behind, killing off the terrified soldiers like they were pitiful pigeons. By the time Mark launched the last attack to kill off the final soldier—a female Angel who looked like she was about to go mad from fear—the sun had already begun to set on the horizon. The demons who followed Mark were cheering loudly, raising their hands and firing off magic spells into the air while chanting his praises.
“Lord Vanitas!”
“All Hail!”
“Lord Vanitas!”
“All Hail!”
“Lord Vanitas!”
Mark looked out over the large group of demons chanting for him. Although he was not affected by their frenzy, he couldn’t help the small grin that appeared on his face as he felt their emotions reaching out to him in waves. Their excitement, joy, and relief were obvious to Mark, and he raised his hand in the air in a sign of victory amidst the cheers of his people.
…
Mark and the rest of the army made their way back to the battleground close to the mining town, and he guided his griffon closer to the Angel barricade that had been preventing the free movement of the demons for so long.
But as Mark got closer and closer, he felt his brow furrow in confusion as he saw something strange.
The barricade that the Angels had created was made in a way that it would be able to hold more than just the soldiers responsible for fighting. The soldiers were going to be staying there for a long time, so the barricade included housing and a space for farming that allowed them to bring their families along with them.
Their wives and children had been hiding in the barricade when the war began, and after the first barrage of Dark Fire hit the barricade, some of the regular civilians were killed in the ensuing fire. But not all of them. Many of the Angel women and their children were still alive in there, and the demons had gone in and grabbed them all from their houses and hiding places.
Now, Mark could feel a fire of revulsion and disgust burning in his chest as he watched many of the demons forcing themselves on the Angel females.
Mark’s hand around the griffon’s reins tightened until it almost drew blood. What the fuck were these fools doing!? He didn’t raise his voice and didn’t let his anger cloud his judgment. Instead, he turned to Mildred, who had been following beside him all this time. Mildred had also taken part in chasing down the remaining Angels, so there was a lingering excitement in her heart that put a smile on her face. Even as she watched the scene in front of her, she didn’t look the least bit irritated.
Was this how all demons were?

“Mildred, who ordered this?”
Mildred turned to Mark the moment he spoke, a curious expression on her face and a small smile dancing on her lips. Ordered what?
Mark gave Mildred a hard look, and she immediately seemed to get her bearings back as she saw the seriousness in his eyes. Mark was not playing around, and Mildred had to get serious as well. Mildred looked at what Mark had been watching—the demons forcing themselves on the Angel women. Was that what the demon lord was asking about?
“My Lord, the soldiers are simply relieving themselves.”
“I said, who ordered this!?”
Mildred swallowed in fear as she heard Mark’s hard tone.
“N-No one, my lord. This has been done since the beginning of the war. Whenever the demons win against an Angel stronghold, we take their riches and homes, rape the wives, and kill the children.”
