Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 594
Chapter 594: A Storm Is Coming
Arit had a worried look on her face as she spoke up, and Mark turned to her with a raised brow. Mark waited for Arit to finish talking before he sighed with a small smile. They spoke about MArk’s plans for this war for a long time last night, and even though Arit had expressed her worry then as well, somewhere in the middle of having sex and trying to get enough sleep for today, Arit had let go of her worries. But now that they were about to head out, Arit’s worries were coming back again.
“This is just like any other fight, Arit. Don’t you trust me?”
“It’s not about that. I’m worried about you because this isn’t normal. We’re in another world surrounded by mythological creatures and fighting against Angels. There’s nothing ‘normal’ about this. Am I not allowed to be worried about the man I love?”
Mark grinned and walked over to Arit. Arit had started to pout, and Mark brought her over and put her head on his chest. Mark had noticed for a while now that Arit was a lot more irritable, and he could only guess that it was because of her pregnancy. Mark didn’t really mind her acting this way since he knew she was only doing it because she was worried about him, so he was always patient with her whenever she got like this.
Arit immediately wrapped her hands around him and spoke again.
“Promise me you’ll be okay. Please.”
Mark nodded as he looked out into the darkening sky.
“I won’t die in a place like this, Arit. Neither of us will. I promise.”
—
The Island of Aragon was a large expanse of land located close to the edge of the demon continent. A large area of the island was covered by trees that acted as a natural source of food and supplies for the island inhabitants, and surrounding this large area of trees were various sandy beaches, with the largest of the beaches facing the southern region of the demon continent.
On this beach, a military structure had been built. It was a wide circular compound wall raised using concrete and metal. Barbed wires decorated the top of the wall, and various lookout stations that towered over the structure were located at the corners of the beach.
Inside the structure, Angel soldiers were preparing for battle, putting on their armor and preparing their mana stones and weapons.
There was a sense of calmness among the troops as they moved without haste. Many of them felt like they had the upper hand in the coming battle due to their previous victories, so they didn’t feel any nervousness at all.
The sound of the ocean raging against the shore of the beach was beginning to intensify, and soon, they knew that the ocean would be a raging maelstrom of waves. This, combined with the support they were going to get from the Angels at the Myriad Castle, left them with a sense of coming victory that eased their tension.
The general of the island, a hard-faced Angel with a strong build and powerful wings folded behind him, looked on at his men as they got ready. His name was Daniel, and he couldn’t help but feel uneasy. The unease he felt was not because of the coming battle but rather something he couldn’t pinpoint, no matter how much he thought about it.
The general would always feel this way whenever he was about to face a particularly tough battle. He would feel restless, and a dull static would rattle his teeth if he grit them too tight.
Right now, his teeth felt electric.
The General was standing on the balcony overlooking the soldiers below for some time before he looked out into the horizon, watching the dark cloud looming. The general knew that the coming storm would allow them to gain the upper hand against the demons, as the demons would have to battle against the storm as well when coming to the island, but the storm’s direction favored the demons. The storm would aid the demons in arriving on the island even faster, and the troops wouldn’t have time to cause enough damage to the warships and sink some of them before the troops made land.
“Daniel, you look more worried than the demons should make you. What’s going on?”
A male voice sounded from the side, and Daniel turned to see his second-in-command, a thin, blond man with a chiseled face handsome enough to woo most women, standing beside him. That man was James, one of the only people in the army close enough to Daniel to call him by his name in such an endearing way. Daniel gruffed and turned away from James before looking out into the ocean again.
“There is a storm coming. It will aid the demons.”
James also looked out at the storm and hummed as he saw the sense in what Daniel said. The storm was coming their way, so it would give the demons a boost. And worst of all, it would prevent them from being able to use the sky as much as they wanted.
But James knew that the Angels weren’t only dangerous because they could fly. They were dangerous because they were the better fighters.
“Yes, that may be true. But it will also fight them for us, so we can’t complain. I prefer it to those bastards having clear skies and easy sailing. Even if we won’t be able to fly as freely as we want, we will still be far better off than them. You worry too much, Daniel. Come, let’s get ready for battle.”
James patted Daniel on the back before he started to pull him away towards another part of the castle so that they could get ready. Daniel gave the troops on the ground another look before he followed James and spoke up seriously.
“What about the auxiliary troops? Are they in place?”
James suddenly turned serious once he heard the seriousness in Daniel’s voice. The auxiliary troops were a small group of elites tasked with a different mission from the rest of the army. Their informant in the demon army had told them that the demon lord was planning a three-pronged attack on the island. One army would come in from the south to draw the Angels towards them, and then another army from the north would arrive in the heat of battle to aid the southern army.
But the demon lord himself would not be a part of any of these armies. Instead, the demon lord would be arriving alone on a secluded part of the island, where he would try to work his way through the army and cause as much destruction as possible.
‘What a cowardly plan.’
James did not expect anything more from those snake-like demons. They never wanted to fight head-on and would rather use these sneaky tactics like the cowards they were.

It was too bad for them that the Angels had already gotten wind of everything through their informant. James answered Daniel’s question with a nod.
“Yes, they are in place. They’ll keep to the shadows where the demon lord will not be able to see them and ambush him once he arrives. We still don’t know if we can trust the informant completely since they can be compromised at any moment, but they haven’t lied to us yet, so we are going to follow their instructions for now.”
Daniel accepted James’ words with a small nod. It left a bitter taste in his mouth that they were trusting information from a demon, but for the sake of winning this war, they didn’t have much of a choice.
