Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 597
Chapter 597: Nightmare Shark
Mark turned to the side and caught Arit staring at him with worry, and he just gave her a grin that managed to put a smile on her face before he tore the rope holding him up and free-fell into the water below with a splash! Many demons turned to look at Mark once he left the ship behind and some of them even ran to the rear of the ship to see Mark’s boat.
Mark’s boat slowly lagged behind as the large ships floated past him, and Mark could hear the shouts and cheers from the various members of the army as they looked down at him from the ships. They all knew of the plan for Mark to come from a different part of the island, so they were going into battle while putting their faith in him once more.
This continued until the ships were out of sight, and Mark was the only one left in the middle of the vast ocean. Mark looked around him, standing alone on such a small boat in the middle of the darkened ocean. He couldn’t help but feel like he was the only person alive in the whole world. It was a surreal feeling, but Mark knew he couldn’t enjoy it for long. It was going to be a long day, and if Mark didn’t start now, the demons would be eradicated before he could finish his plans.
Mark activated his [Crown of The Golden Horizon] skill, and his entire body glowed with a resplendent golden light that lit up the ocean around him, driving away the darkness and giving him an almost ethereal look. He stayed this way for a few minutes, and he finally grinned as he felt something prod his consciousness.
There you are!
Mark lashed out with the [Fangs that Link The Heavens], which wrapped around a large shark that suddenly breached out of the water in fright before it finally calmed down once Mark sent out a soothing sensation towards it.
This was one of the skills that Mark’s [Crown of The Golden Horizon] gave him.
…
[Active Effects of [Crown of The Golden Horizon]]
– All land and air animals connected to light will view the user as their master and follow his orders.
…
Mark tested the skill earlier while training, and he saw that he had a vague sort of telepathy that he could use to communicate with animals whenever his skill was activated. This allowed Mark to command, direct, and even understand them to a degree.
The shark that Mark had just caught was a great dark-skinned shark called the Nightmare Shark, native only to the demon continent. At first, Mark was skeptical about whether or not he would be able to control this shark. With a name like ‘Nightmare Shark’, it didn’t seem like it was connected to light in any way, but with a bit of force and intimidation, Mark managed to force the shark under his control.
It had white jagged teeth that peeked through its mouth at all times, and a bony exoskeleton covered its chest and back to protect it from predators. In these waters, it was one of the apex predators, so no other organism neared it once they sensed its presence. Mark had ordered the shark to follow after the warship until he was ready to use it, and now that the ships were gone, Mark needed the shark for transportation.
Mark wrapped the end of the chain around his forearm before planting his feet against the boat and ordering the shark to move.
The shark followed Mark’s order and started to move across the ocean at a rapid pace, diving into the water and pulling the boat forward! The Aragon Island slowly appeared on the horizon as Mark’s boat surged forward, and Mark only spared the island a glance before ordering the shark to divert to the right, following a path that Mark had memorized from the map two days ago toward another island on the other side of the ocean.
The intense rainfall battered against Mark’s body, drenching him from head to toe as he made his way through the water, and Mark narrowed his eyes as he saw a large wave rising in the distance, heading toward him at a rapid pace. Mark braced himself and ducked down to hold onto the boat as it was raised up by the wave, then slammed into the water as the wave descended! The boat capsized, and Mark quickly grabbed it before it could be pulled away by the current.
The shark continued moving forward even in the middle of that intense wave, and Mark grabbed hold of the capsized boat and threw it under him like s surfboard before being pulled forward once more.
This went on for a long time, and Mark kept his eyes peeled for any movement from the darkness around him, because he knew he would soon meet with a large group of angels that were moving toward the Aragon Island.
And just as Mark predicted, he saw a large white ship coming from the horizon with ten smaller ships around it! They were all carrying angels and moving quickly toward the Aragon Island, and Mark quickly pulled the Fangs tight and propelled himself forward while leaving the boat behind. Mark sank into the ocean, held his breath, and dragged himself forward on the fang until he grabbed hold of the shark’s fin and continued on.
Mark had made a plan with Arit after all the other council members left during their discussion, and even though both Mark and Arit knew it was going to be dangerous, they also knew that this was the best way to ensure the demons came out of the battle with the upper hand.
The Aragon Island was popular as one of the strongholds of the demons, and ever since the Angels took it two years ago, they had been holding their own against the demon forces on the southern continent while using the island as their base. The main reason why the southern continent’s forces didn’t dare to launch a full-on attack on the island for so long was because of the Angel forces present at the Myriad Castle.
The Myriad Castle was a large fortress built on top of a rocky peninsula extending out from the Angel continent. This peninsula was surrounded by water, and the only way in and out was through the beach or from the western side of the Angel continent.
The angels on the island relied on the angels at the Myriad Castle for aid during battle. So, in a situation where the Angels on the island were faced with a battle they couldn’t handle alone, Mark knew that the only angels available for immediate aid were those from the Myriad Castle.
And Mark was going to use this to his advantage.
The Angels leaving the castle right now were the main fighting force from the Myriad Castle. After hearing that Mark was going to be on the island, the Angels wouldn’t only send weaklings. Instead, Mark was sure they’d send their strongest fighters to subdue him! And since all these angels were leaving, they were going to leave the Myriad Castle defenseless!
Mark commanded the shark to breach the surface of the ocean for a moment, and the shark swam up, allowing Mark to take a deep breath before it dived back down and continued on. The large ships had already passed behind Mark, but he decided to stay underwater for now in case there were sentries looking out into the ocean who might notice him.
