Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 605
Chapter 605: Battle of Aragon
“Stop crying, or I’ll fucking kill you. I didn’t even say anything that would make you cry. What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Rachael felt her entire body shiver once mark glared at her in annoyance and she quickly forced herself to stop crying. Rachael brought her hand up to try and clean her tears, and when Mark asked her for her name again, she said it was Rachael Grant.
Mark nodded and turned back around to look out the window at the large ships that were hurrying back to the island while being attacked by the demon ships following behind them.
Mark remembered that woman from before commanding him to surrender by order of some Duke Grant. That meant this girl was that man’s daughter. Or at least someone from his family. And that also meant that the Myriad Castle was in this Duke Grant’s territory. A plan slowly started to form in Mark’s mind as things fell into place.
…
On the large ship carrying the Angels back towards Myriad Castle, spells were being thrown around relentlessly as they all tried their hardest to fend off the demons following behind them while still making their way toward Myriad Castle as quickly as the boat could go.
After the boat first left the castle, things had been going well as they headed toward Aragon Island to aid the Angels there against the demon invasion. They arrived at the island and saw that the battle was already raging. The Angels were being bombarded from both the northern and southern sides of the island by dark magic spells and ferocious attacks, so they joined in with the Angels already fighting the demons and attacked the demons from the eastern front to divert their attention and give the other Angels a chance to breathe and counterattack against the other demons.
Things evened out somewhat after the soldiers from Myriad Castle joined in. Although some of the demons had been killed by the initial attacks the Angels set up to sink the demon ships, many demons just swam to the shore after their boats sank and joined in with the other demons to continue their attacks. The demons had obviously trained well for this fight, and the turbulent waves did nothing to hinder their progress.
But the first thing that alerted the captain of the Angel forces from Myriad Castle that something was wrong was an alert informing her that the demon lord was not present in battle. The captain was shocked by this revelation, and she looked toward her second-in-command, asking if they had not received a message from their informant in the demon army saying that the demon lord would be coming in from a different part of the island. The informant nodded and confirmed that they did.
In fact, the Angels had already sent out a small contingent to apprehend and kill the demon lord the moment he showed himself, but the battle had been raging for close to thirty minutes already, and there was still no sign of him.
Although this seemed like a serious issue, it was not enough to make them leave the island, and the battle raged on as the demons and Angels tried their hardest to eradicate each other. Dark spells and light spells flew across the island at lightning speed, lighting up the dark sky and making the already chaotic battlefield even more chaotic! The demons and Angels on the frontline suffered the most from the barrage of spells since none of them knew whether they would be hit by a stray spell from the sky at any moment. But their sheer hatred for each other allowed them to ignore the dangers as they continued their attacks.
The Air Force couldn’t join the battle properly due to the intense winds blowing through the area, and Arit and the rest of the Air Force were tasked with protecting the ships from Angel attacks. Hunn was the leader of the expedition until the demon lord arrived, and Hunn was not so blind to the possibility of them losing that he would neglect the safety of their ships. So, since the Air Force couldn’t join the battle, their job was to kill any Angel that tried to get on the ships while protecting the ships from light-based attacks that the Angels could shoot from a distance.
Mildred was the leader of the Air Force for this battle, and although Arit was not happy to be taking orders from Mildred, Arit knew that she had to do it so that Mark’s plan would work out well so she just buried her hatred for Mildred deep down and fought beside her.
The Angel forces continued their relentless attacks for the next few minutes as the battle reached a stalemate, with neither side gaining the upper hand for a long time. Riger, the leader of the demon ground forces, was a hurricane of blood as he tore through Angels on the ground, but it was no different on the Angel side, as the captain of the forces from Myriad Castle stained her sword with demon blood, tearing through them like paper.
But then, the second sign that something was terribly wrong arrived unexpectedly.
“Do you hear that?”
One of the Angels from the Myriad Castle, who was still aboard their ship, spoke up while keeping his ears open. There was a strange sound in the air, and when he asked the man standing beside him if he heard it, the man raised a brow and listened as well to find out what it was.
Gong~! Gong~!
Both men widened their eyes in shock once they heard that sound! The sound was muffled and muddy, almost like it came from a place far away from them, and it didn’t take long for them to realize exactly what it was—the warning bell from Myriad Castle!
“We have to warn the captain!”
The man who first heard the sound shouted in desperation as he took to the sky and flew down to where the captain was fighting against a group of demons. The man waited for the right moment so he wouldn’t distract her, and when it looked like she was catching her breath after dispatching another demon, he went down and reported what he heard to her. The captain was shaken, and she immediately asked him if he was sure. The man nodded and said that someone else had heard it too, just to convince her. The captain quickly took to the sky and flew back to the ship with him. There was too much noise on the battlefield, so she wouldn’t be able to hear the sound even if she tried.
Gong~! Gong~!
But the moment she was close enough, she heard it again! The sound was echoing out from the distance in a muddy wave that was struggling to reach her through the chaos of the raging ocean and strong winds. And then, just when she started to think about what was happening, a massive wave of light energy shot into the sky and burst through the clouds above them!
That was the signal that the Myriad Castle had formulated for whenever they needed to ask for help from the Aragon Islands! There was an attack on their castle!
“Retreat! All soldiers to the ships! Retreat!”
