Chapter 609: Tell Them To Surrender
Rachael’s face was contorted in a look of pure terror, and before long, she started to cry and screamed for Mark to stop what he was doing!
“We’ll surrender! They can’t fight anymore! Please! Please!”
Mark just looked down at Rachael with no emotion on his face, before he looked up at the few Angels who had flown off the boats and braved the weather to finally make it to shore as well as those that managed to get past the Nightmare sharks and swim to land. Once those Angels landed, they immediately pulled out their swords and charged for Mark with a mad roar of anger. Mark’s aura flared to life as blue lightning began to crackle around him!
Mark’s right hand twitched, and another lightning bolt began to form in the air as he prepared to shoot it at them, but then Rachael was there once more!
Rachael ran in front of Mark and fell to her knees while spreading her arms wide to try and shield the angels behind her from Mark’s attack!
“Please! I’m begging you! Stop! Please stop! All of you stop too! Do you want to die? It’s not worth it! Stop!”
Rachael shouted the last part of her sentence towards the men running towards Mark, and they slowly stopped their advance as they saw the sheer desperation in her eyes. Rachael’s face was dirty and stained with tears as she pleaded for their lives, and Mark gave her a curious look for a long, tense moment before he finally spoke.
“Tell them to surrender their weapons and get on their knees, and I’ll spare their lives.”
Mark’s words caused the Angels to roar out in righteous anger. Who the hell did this demon think he was? He was going to spare them? They would kill him if it was the last thing they did! The angels couldn’t forgive Mark after seeing what Mark had done to the Myriad Castle!
But Rachael was a different case as she quickly got to her feet and shouted at all of them.
“Drop your weapons! Drop them right now! I am Rachael Grant, daughter of Duke Grant, the lord of this province, and I am ordering you by my authority to drop those weapons now!”
Rachael’s voice was loud and booming enough that it rose over the intense rain, echoing to every single person there. The men hesitated at first, not seeing the point of listening to the order from a one-winged angel that held no real power. But once Rachael reminded them of her position and who her father was, they seemed to gain some clarity, slowly starting to follow her orders. They dropped their weapons on the ground bitterly and got to their knees as they finally surrendered to Mark.
Rachael breathed out a sigh of relief as she saw them all surrender, then turned back to look at Mark desperately and waited to see what he would do. Rachael knew she was taking a gamble here. This man was a demon, and there was every likelihood he would just kill them all now that he had the upper hand even though he promised to spare their lives.
There had never been a demon that could keep his promise.
That was what Rachael’s father had taught her a long time ago, and no demon had proven him wrong yet. Rachael hoped with everything she believed in that Mark would be the one to prove her father wrong.
Mark walked up to Rachael, and she felt her head dropping and her heart rate spike significantly as he got closer until she was only staring at his feet when he stopped in front of her. Mark raised his hand and Rachael’s entire body shivered as she felt him touch the top of her head.
Pat. Pat.
Rachael’s eyes widened in shock as she felt Mark pat her head gently, and she looked up to see him giving her a small smile. She swallowed in fear, but Mark’s next words managed to ease her heart.
“You’ve just saved their lives. You should be proud.”
An enormous wave of relief coursed through Rachael’s body at that moment, and she dropped to her knees, thanking Mark while crying desperately.
Mark walked away from her and watched as his troops finally made port at the edge of the peninsula. The cheers and yells from the demons on the boats echoed through the night, drowning out the rain and thunder and making all the Angels who had surrendered shift around nervously.
Arit quickly flew off the lead ship and slammed into Mark’s open arms. He caught her easily and chuckled as she kissed him.
Mark’s body was stained with blood, his clothes were torn, and his chin had an injury that was already closing up, but he was here, and he was alive. That was all Arit cared about.
The other demons started to highlight from the ships, and many of them moved towards the Angels kneeling on the ground with murderous intent, but Mark’s order stopped them as he declared all the Angels there prisoners of war. He ordered Hunn to gather them up and put them in the ship’s cargo hold.
The demons were obviously confused by the order since they were so used to just murdering anyone they came across in battle. Mark had never stopped them from killing before, so they weren’t happy that Mark was stopping them now but Mark had already given his word to Rachael, so he would spare the lives of these prisoners for now. Mark commanded the demons to do as they were told, and they quickly agreed as they saw annoyance starting to appear on Mark’s face.
“No, not you. You’re coming with me.”
Mark grabbed hold of Rachael as they were about to put her on the ship with the other Angels, and she felt her entire body shiver as he pulled her towards him with his chain. Rachael stumbled from the pull and bumped into Mark’s chest, but he didn’t even budge from the hit, and she was instead sent sprawling to the ground! Rachael looked up at Mark in fear, wondering what he was going to do with her. She thought Mark would be angry about what had just happened, but he didn’t even look like he cared, and Rachael released a silent breath she didn’t know she had been holding. But when Rachael looked to the side at the woman standing beside Mark, Rachael wanted to fall into the ground and vanish.
Arit was staring at Rachael like Rachael was a piece of shit on the side of the road. Arit gave her a once-over and then asked Mark who this was.
“She’s the daughter of the duke ruling this castle. He wasn’t here, so I’m guessing they exiled her there because of her wings. I’m going to use her later.”
Arit’s mouth formed an ‘oh’ expression as she turned to the one-winged angel once more, this time with a more inquisitive look rather than one of disgust.

Arit nodded at Mark’s words and only gave Rachael one more curious look before she turned to Mark and told him that they had to go while using her hands to clean some blood that was falling from his hair. Arit used the sleeve of her shirt to clean Mark’s face properly and made sure the blood was not going to hinder him anymore before she nodded and followed after him as he walked towards the main ship.
