Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 639
Chapter 639: Blow It Up
[Three Days Before The End of Freya’s Trials]
[Aragon Island]
“Do you think the angels will come?”
Arit spoke up from behind Mark, and Mark turned away from watching the water and faced her. The both of them were on a large ship heading toward the Aragon Island. They had taken the ship from the demons after their last attack and held onto it for this moment.
The demons had all left the angels’ continent a few days ago after Mark’s consistent attacks decimated their forces and almost killed them all. The demons would have liked to use Mark’s relentless attacks on the angels as a means of gaining the upper hand against them, but Mark attacking them well was not in their equation, and they were forced to retreat after they couldn’t risk suffering any more damage.
The closest haven for the demons was the Aragon Island, and Mark knew that all the leaders and council members of the demons would be on that island. It’s not like the demons had much of a choice.
Mark had expressly warned them earlier that he would be coming to the island in a few days, and if he didn’t see each and every single high-ranking demon there, then he was going to continue sailing until he got to the demon continent, and then he would start killing them like ants there.
Mark had realized a long time ago that the demons and angels only collectively understood the language of violence, so it was the best way to get them to do things for you. If you try to reason with them, then they were going to end up stabbing you in the back the moment you turn around. If you want to get a message across properly, then you have to add in the threat of violence to make sure they get it.
Mark nodded to Arit’s question before returning his attention to the ocean.
“They’ll come. I didn’t give the angels much of a choice. The only thing I’m worried about is whether or not the demons will attack them the moment they see the angels. If they do, then I’m going to have to kill all of them and start this shit all over again with a new group of leaders. It’s fucking exhausting dealing with them. It’s like handling children.”
Arit laughed into her hand and came forward to wrap her arms around Mark’s waist from behind. Arit was wearing a pair of trousers and a shirt she found in one of the angel hideouts. Since Arit’s wings were similar to the angel wings, the shirt had enough of an opening at the back to accommodate her wings, so it was perfect for her.
Arit grinned and turned to the side as she saw a large black shark break out from below the ocean before diving back in. There were about ten of these sharks moving the ship toward the island for them, so they didn’t have to worry about steering. Arit had no idea how Mark was able to control them, but she just put it down to one of those things Mark could do because of his blessing, and she didn’t let it bother her more than that. She spoke up.
“I wonder if this is how the gods feel when they see humans fighting themselves back on Earth. Do they see us as children that are bickering over things that could be easily solved with just a little bit of conversation?”
Mark hummed curiously as Arit’s words made his mind wander. But he eventually decided that she might be right. Humans have been known to be very stupid at times.
“We’ll see if these guys are better than humans or not after this meeting. Keep your guard up for any attacks; we never know what either side might be planning. I’ll make sure no one can leave the island, so it’s either we finish things off here or every one of them dies.”
Arit’s smile turned bloodthirsty.
“I love it when you talk like that.”
Mark reached back to bring Arit forward, and he spoke as he leaned down to kiss her.
“Of course you do, you little monster.”
…
On the Aragon Islands, all of the demons had formed a protective barrier at the central city close to the eastern part of the island, where the largest stronghold was located.
The stronghold was the same one that the angels had been using when they took over the island, but ever since the demons took it back during the Battle of Aragon, they took control of it again and made it their own.
On a tall sentry tower overlooking the ocean, Hunn stood with Riger and Mildred at his side. Hunn had one of his hands in a cast and a large bruise that was still slowly healing on the left side of his face, but his condition was far better than what Riger and Mildred looked like.
Riger was using a crutch to walk since one of his legs had been crushed in an errant attack from Mark. The leg had to be amputated since they did not have any form of magic capable of healing injuries like that, and there were bandages wrapped around his waist that hid a life-threatening cut that would have killed him had he not been treated quickly. Mildred, meanwhile, was now wearing a mask over her face that covered it completely, but underneath that mask, everyone who was present at the fight in the Myriad Castle knew that she was missing an eye and had a large gash that ran from one end of her face to the other. Arit didn’t play around in their fight, and no matter how powerful Mildred thought she was, Arit was stronger.
Arit was extremely angry at Mildred for the sneak attack that was carried out during the peace negotiations at the angels’ central city, and Arit immediately attacked Mildred during the fight at the Myriad Castle and made sure to pay her back for what she did. At the end of it, Mildred was able to walk away with her life, but her face would never be the same again.
“I can see the demon lord’s ship—”
Hunn spoke up once he saw the large ship coming toward them from the horizon, but Riger immediately cut him off.
“Don’t call him that. That man is no demon lord.”
Riger sneered with an angry glare on his face as he stared at the ship in the distance, and Hunn nodded as he accepted Riger’s words. Hunn understood that Riger was very angry at this moment because of what Mark did to him. Missing a leg basically meant that Riger was never going to be able to fight again. Riger had been retired for the rest of his life, and even if the war continued, there was nothing Riger could do to contribute to it.
Mildred, meanwhile, just wrapped her arms around her body and held herself tight as she glared at the ship. There was a deep-seated anger growing from somewhere deep in her belly and threatening to consume her! Just thinking that Arit was on that ship coming toward the island was enough to reignite the fire of anger inside of Mildred!
