Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 641
Chapter 641: Alternative Ways
The Angels on the ship saw what Mark had done with the Nightmare Sharks and many of them realized that there was no way for them to go back. The angels obviously weren’t comfortable with this, but the lead ship docked at the port, and they saw their king coming down from the ship calmly. So, the rest of the angels had to rush and follow along so they wouldn’t leave their king at the mercy of the demons.
As King Richard got to where the demons were gathered, he stopped as he faced off against Hunn. The two races just stood there and watched one another.
There was something primal about the way their muscles twisted and they bared their teeth at each other. Almost like they were itching to start a fight right there. But before things could get too bad, Hunn greeted them and immediately told them what Mark had just said.
“Anyone that attacks a member of the opposing race will have ten members of his own race killed.”
It was a basic threat, but it did enough to prevent any of them from lashing out pointlessly. They all knew that Mark was not someone who would play around about killing, so they were sure he would definitely do what he said he would.
The king took a breath and started to walk towards Hunn. Ephraim quickly reached out to try and bring the king back, but the king ignored Ephraim and he eventually got to Hunn and spoke up.
“I hope we can have a fruitful negotiation.”
It was like an olive branch that the king was extending towards Hunn. The angels were shocked and the demons looked at the king like they were only a moment away from dogpiling him and eradicating him right there!
Their faces were so tightly squeezed that you would think they had swallowed lemons! But Hunn eyed the king calmly for a moment before he huffed and nodded.
“Sure, I hope we have a peaceful negotiation as well. Come along, we have to get to the stronghold. Mark Vanitas is waiting for us over there.”
King Richard hummed internally when he noticed the way Hunn referred to the demon lord and realized that Hunn was no longer talking about him as respectfully as before. King Richard had already heard about the massive damage that the demon lord did to the demons as well. There was no doubt that the demons were not on the side of the demon lord because of just how many of them were killed, but hearing about it and seeing it were two very different things.
King Richard turned to Ephraim and told him to bring him a horse to use as they all made their way down to the stronghold.
Mark was already seated at a table in the middle of a large room. There were large chairs on both sides of the table and Mark’s chair was located at the halfway point, between both chairs like a supervisor.
Mark was leaning back and listening to the ocean waves from outside the window at his side while Arit behind him played with the hair at the back of his head with a smile on her face. Mark realized a while ago that Arit really liked playing with his hair. He didn’t really mind her doing it, but it was so soothing that for a moment, Mark wished that this negotiation didn’t happen. Mark just wanted to strong-arm both races into doing what he wanted them to do.
But that would be counterproductive.
The Goddess Freya said that the races were meant to sign a peace treaty that would allow them to maintain a peaceful coexistence for a very long time. That meant that they had to maintain this peace treaty even after Mark was gone. If Mark just grabbed both leaders of the races and strong-armed them into signing the peace treaty, Mark knew that once he left and they found out that he was no longer there to threaten them, they would go off killing and starting their pointless fighting again.
That was why Mark forced them to come to this island. Mark wanted to have a discussion between the races that would allow them to air their grievances to one another and understand each other properly. This way, when they eventually signed the peace treaty, it wouldn’t be because Mark forced them to do it, it would be because they saw the agreement as something that both sides could live with.
So even after Mark leaves, they would be less likely to go back into fighting and killing one another.
Well, at least that was the general idea. Mark knew that plans never really go as you hope they would and there might be something that throws this plan off-kilter in this meeting. Mark just hoped that neither race would give him an excuse to kill even more people. It would be very unfortunate, and also counterproductive to Mark’s mission.
‘But it’s better to just erase all the rebels on both sides and allow those that want peace to start over again than to allow the rebels to ruin what I’m doing here.’
Mark sighed as he thought this but Mark shook that thought away and decided not to go that far just yet. Mark would kill them if he had to but he wouldn’t kill unless he had to either.
“You look like you have a lot on your mind. At this rate, you’ll start greying before the year is over. You’re always thinking so much.”
Arit leaned forward and spoke up from behind Mark and Mark couldn’t help the smile that came over his features when he heard her. It would take a little more than that to make Mark start greying.
Arit’s hand on the back of Mark’s head started to caress it slowly and she hummed before speaking again.
“Although, I don’t think you would look too bad with grey hair. If you grow your beard out, it’ll look very handsome on you.”
Mark just had to chuckle at that.
Arit had a way of getting his mind off things that he couldn’t even describe! Arit smiled when she saw that Mark was no longer overthinking and she leaned back and took her hand off him when she noticed the door to the room opening. The demons and angels had arrived and they all glanced around the large room with hostility still in their gazes.
King Richard moved into the room with confident strides and Mark watched Hunn hesitate for a few seconds before he also moved to the table and sat down opposite the king. Mark turned to Hunn and asked him where Riger and Mildred were. The other members of the council were here, but those two were missing.
Hunn shook his head.
“They have removed themselves from the council. With their… injuries, they don’t have the confidence to stand as leaders for their races. Instead, two other members of their races are standing in for them as their new leaders.”

Hunn pointed out two new members of the succubus and werewolf races that were present at the meeting.
