Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 645
Chapter 645: Little Hylga
Mark was happy that someone appreciated what he had done for them.
Mark felt amusement rush through him as a realization hit him, and he couldn’t help the small grin that appeared on his face as he nodded to him and spoke up.
“I never thought I would see the day someone would thank me for killing their friends and comrades. I have no illusion about what I did to you and your people, but if this is the way you wish to see things, then so be it. You’re very welcome, Hunn.”
Hunn did not say anything about Mark’s wording; instead, he nodded and spoke about something else.
“Will you stay for the exchange of prisoners? The messages have been sent by hawk to both races, and the prisoners should be here before midday.”
Mark’s mind traveled back to when he first arrived here as he tried to think of what the time had been then. Today was the day he was supposed to go back, so he didn’t know when the trial would end. Mark might not even be here when the prisoners arrive.
Eventually, Mark shrugged and spoke.
“I don’t know, really. I might be going back to my own world soon.”
Hunn’s eyes widened in surprise for a moment, but it didn’t last long before he was back to his stoic self. Hunn was a little worried once he heard that Mark would be leaving. There was a sense of security that both races possessed in Mark’s presence. It felt like neither side could go against the treaty since Mark would be overseeing it. The threat of Mark’s anger was enough to keep both sides in check.
But once Mark leaves, would things not fall apart?
Hunn asked Mark if he would not consider staying, and Mark was able to understand Hunn’s worries once he heard that question. Mark shook his head.
“You people need to get rid of your dependence on violence. It’s like you only answer to violence, and the only way you can keep your word is if there is a threat of violence attached to breaking it. From what I saw in that room, I know that all of you are in support of this treaty, so there should be no problem on that end. But let me give you a bit of advice; whether you take it or not is up to you.
“It’s better to cut off a hand that has been poisoned and continue living without it than to allow that poison to travel through the rest of the body. As long as you understand this, then you should be fine.”
Hunn’s brow furrowed in confusion at the way Mark spoke, but it didn’t take long for him to realize what Mark was talking about, and Hunn sighed once more. Hunn gazed out into the ocean for a few moments, and after he organized his thoughts properly, Hunn finally turned back to Mark and bowed low to him with a few final words.
“It has been the greatest honor to serve under you, my lord.”
Mark couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face even if he wanted to as he gave Hunn a small nod.
“The pleasure has been all mine, Hunn. I wish you the very best.”
Hunn turned and left the pair of them alone, and Arit’s hand squeezed around Mark’s waist happily as she looked up at Mark with a smile. Mark raised a brow as he stared down at her, and Arit shook her head before she just stood on her toes and planted a kiss on Mark’s lips.
Mark accepted the kiss easily and wrapped a hand around Arit’s waist to hold her up for longer.
“Mmmh~”
Arit released a low hum as they separated from the kiss, and Mark playfully asked her what that was for. Arit grinned.
“I’m just really proud of you. I can tell you really did everything you could for these people. You did great, Mark.”
Mark smiled and kissed Arit again. She was just too cute.
As they kissed, neither of them noticed that the scenery around them was already changing. The ocean and skies disappeared, and Arit also slowly vanished from in front of Mark. Mark’s eyes shot open in shock once he no longer felt Arit in front of him and he looked around at the large expanse of space that he was standing in.
The room Mark was in had no floor or ceiling, it was almost like he was floating in a vast sea of nothingness and there was nothing but white light for as far as the eye could see.
Mark grit his teeth as he tried to see if Arit was anywhere nearby, but he didn’t see her at all, and he had to stop himself from growing angry as he heard something in the distance approaching him.
Step! Step! Step!
Footsteps rang out from somewhere to his left, and Mark turned to it to see a young girl walking towards him. She wore a long green tunic and had a crown of leaves adorning her brown hair. She had a very cute face, and from her size, Mark could only guess that she was about thirteen years old.
The girl was looking down at a clipboard in her hand and biting a pencil with a small frown on her face, and she didn’t even look up until she bumped hard into Mark’s chest!
“Oof! Kya!”

The girl screamed cutely as she almost fell to the ground, but Mark reached out and grabbed her hand before she could fall. Mark stabilized her, and she released a sigh of relief before looking up at the much taller Mark with a blush on her face.
“T-Thank you. I didn’t see you here.”
Mark’s eyes narrowed as he stepped closer to the girl.
“Who are you, and where is the woman that was with me?”
The girl tried to take a step back, but she couldn’t do it, and the blush on her face started to increase more as she stared down at Mark’s hand still holding her own. Mark’s intense stare pinned her down, and she tried to use the clipboard in her other hand to cover her reddening face as she turned away and spoke in a cute voice.
“Y-Y-Your hand.”
Mark’s eyes narrowed as the anger he had been restraining slowly started to boil over.
“I’m not fucking playing with you. What happened to the woman that was with me?”
The poor girl turned even redder as she saw the anger on Mark’s face, and she started to stammer out an apology as she waved the clipboard around erratically. Mark could barely make any sense of what she was saying, but he was somehow able to get the words ‘Lady Freya,’ ‘returned,’ and ‘your world’ out of her senseless mumbling, and he sighed as he hoped this meant Freya had taken Arit back to Earth.
Mark let go of the girl’s hand, and the girl released a cute cry as she ran away from him with a huge blush on her face.
[Now why would you do that to the poor girl, Mark Vanitas? Little Hylga here was only trying to welcome you.]
