Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 650
Chapter 650: Heavy Is The Crown
“Well, yes and no.”
Mark frowned at that answer, and Freya bent down to pet the head of a
slow-moving tortoise that was passing beside them.
The tortoise reached out its head and nuzzled against her palm for a moment before it continued on its way.
Mark asked Freya to explain what she meant when she said yes and no, and Freya gently stood back up and faced Mark once more.
“There is no dominant race in your dimension, at least not yet. But now that your people have reached the crossroads of evolution, it is time for that to change. Out of all the lifeforms existing in your dimension, Earth holds the strongest species, and out of all those species, the humans and other animals are the most powerful. Whenever a time like this arrives, the gods whose consciousness have awakened gather together and choose sides. We awaken the potential of each side and grant them power based on their potential. In the case of your world, many gods picked the humans and granted them power, but there were some gods who chose the side of the animals. These gods granted them power instead, and from that power, the anima were born.”
“But you see, there was one god that did something that shouldn’t have been done. This god broke off a piece of himself a hundred thousand years ago and crafted that piece into an immortal soul. He nurtured the soul and eventually placed it within a mortal body. And that mortal body grew into one of the most powerful humans to ever exist and gave the humans too much of an advantage against the anima. That human became the KING.”
Mark’s shock was too obvious for him to even try to hide. What the fuck was Freya talking about? Sozin crafted him? That didn’t even make any sense!
If what Freya was saying was right, then that meant this whole thing started millennia before the anima ever showed themselves! The gods picked sides thousands of years ago and now the humans and anima were fighting to see who would become the dominant life form in their dimension.
Mark’s mind was reeling with the possibilities, but none of them stuck with him as much as the thought that Sozin created him from himself. An immortal soul in a mortal body? That sounded like some sort of joke and if Freya wasn’t the one saying it, then Mark would have just laughed it off as nonsense! Didn’t Sozin give him his powers on the day his parents died? He didn’t understand any of this.
‘Sozin, what is she talking about?’
Mark spoke to himself and tried to see if there would be an answer from Sozin, but Mark heard nothing from his patron god. He frowned as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Mark tried speaking to Sozin again, but once more, there was no answer. Mark figured that Sozin was not going to say anything until he was ready. Mark resolved to make sure he spoke to Sozin about this later, but for now, he turned his attention back to Freya.
Freya had been waiting patiently for Mark to gather himself, and once she saw that he was no longer lost in confusion, she continued.
“You shouldn’t look too confused about all this, child. I’m sure even you would have realized by now that the things you do are not normal for any human. Your rate of growth, your abilities, your strength. It is not something a human should possess. It is the power of a demi-god.”
Mark took in another deep breath before he asked a question.
“And what about the anima?”
Freya raised an eyebrow.
“What about them?”
“You said that what Sozin did was something that shouldn’t have been done. What about the gods that oversee the anima? I’m sure they weren’t happy about what Sozin did.”
“Oh, they certainly were not.”
Freya chuckled to herself at an unspoken joke, and Mark could feel some sort of tension filling the entire region as she laughed. Mark thought the tension was coming from Freya, but he realized it wasn’t when he saw some of the flowers around them beginning to wither and die. Freya frowned as she waved a hand, and the trembling immediately stopped as the flowers came back to life.
[That’s enough, Freya. Say no more.]
A booming voice suddenly spoke from somewhere far away. Freya glared into the distance when she heard it before clicking her tongue. She had been too relaxed for a moment there. If she had let her guard down any further, Thanatos would have been able to break into her domain without any trouble.
Freya sighed before turning back to Mark.
“Well, it appears I have said too much already. Thanatos was only a second away from tearing a hole in my domain and coming in here. He would have surely attacked you if he had managed to break through. I can’t tell you anything more about the anima and what they are going to be capable of since that would break the balance of the coming battle too much. But I can tell you this: the humans have their KING, and now the anima do as well.
“The final battle to prove your relevance is at hand. To you humans, it will still be a while before then, but in my eyes, it might as well be tomorrow. I suggest you strengthen your forces as much as possible. Humanity needs to realize that they are not fighting a war against one another anymore; they are fighting against an enemy that is not afraid to use any means to eradicate them. You need to bring the strongest of your race under one banner and lead them against your enemies. Because a KING is only a KING because of his subjects, and he is measured not only by his strength but also by the strength of those that follow him. Do not turn a blind eye to the suffering of your people anymore, child. Live up to the role that has been given to you.”
Freya stepped closer to Mark and raised her hands to take his face in her palms. She brought his head down and stood up on her toes as she spoke.
“It will be hard, and there will be many trials along the way, but I believe you are more than capable of seeing this through. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, my child. I pray you do not buckle under the weight of such responsibility.”
Freya laid a kind kiss at the center of Mark’s forehead. Mark felt something cool and powerful spread across his skin from the spot her lips had touched, and in the next moment, the darkness consumed him.

Mark blinked his eyes open in the real world and sighed calmly as he slowly tried to sit up in bed. But he was surprised when he felt two pairs of arms holding him tightly. He turned to his left and right to see that it was Arit and Luna who were holding him. Both of them were still as naked as they had been when he left them earlier, but Luna had let go of the blanket she had been hugging and attached herself to his right hand, while Arit was resting her head on his chest and calmly sleeping on his left side.
