Chapter 655: The Need To Get Stronger Faster
“Do you want to go to the memorial?”
Arit asked Mark this question as she reached towards the fridge in the limo for a bottle of water. Arit opened the tiny fridge and she couldn’t help but release a quiet ‘wow’ as she saw all the drinks inside. There were so many expensive drinks in there, and Arit couldn’t even recognize a single one of them. Even the bottled water looked like something outlandish.
‘Crystal Water? What in the world is Crystal Water? I’ve never even heard of that before.’
The Limo belonged to Lunanad it was the Moonlight guild that was responsible for restocking the fridge, so they always put in the most high-end products that were available to the public anywhere at all.
Arit just took the water, closed the fridge, and turned back to Mark to hear his answer.
Mark thought about the benefits of going to this meeting for some time and decided that it might be better for him to go. Mark still remembered Freya’s words from the trial he just had. There was going to be a big fight coming soon, and in order for that to work out well, Mark would need a lot of powerful fighters to join him. Mark could get a lot of superhumans to join his guild if he wanted to while using just his fame. In fact, Mark had already gotten hundreds of applications from various superhumans all over the world. However, for Mark to get some of the really powerful superhumans to join his guild, he would need to go out of his way to make them realize that he was serious about the coming battle.
Powerful superhumans are all more likely to want to create their own guilds instead of joining another guild, and unless Mark made contact with them himself, the likelihood of getting them to join his guild—or at least become his ally—was slim to none.
For Mark to get the kind of exposure he needed for something like that, Mark realized that he needed to get more involved in the political space.
A hand touched Mark on the cheek, and Mark looked to the side to look at Arit. Arit smiled at him and told him that he was thinking too much.
“You shouldn’t try to handle everything on your own, Mark. We can’t help you if you don’t tell us what’s wrong.”
Arit knew that Mark was the sort of person who always wanted to protect those he cared about from danger, so he didn’t mind carrying the entire world on his back alone if he needed to. But he had to know that he could rely on them too.
Luna spoke up from in front of Mark.
“Arit is right. I’ve noticed you’ve been even more quiet since Freya’s trial. Is this about the coming fight you told us about? The Syndicate?”
Mark nodded calmly and scratched his chin with a frown. Mark had told Arit and Luna about the Syndicate, and he also told them about the prediction that Freya made for a big fight that was coming. That was the only thing that was on Mark’s mind for now, and it was also why he was going to talk to Pat.
Luna sighed and looked out the window at the side. They were already close to her agency, and she would have to get down soon. She spoke up quickly.
“I’ve been recruiting many strong superhumans for your agency through my outposts, but we haven’t had anyone capable of holding their own in a fight against an Elder Eldritch yet or even an Armageddon. Most of the SOVERIGN are dead, and Alec joined the government full-time, so he isn’t available. We’ll have to source from outside the country if you want anyone as strong as me or Gunter in your guild. And also, I didn’t want to say anything earlier with everything that was happening, but I’m thinking of uniting our two guilds.”
Mark hummed in confusion and asked Luna what she meant by that, and Luna repeated herself.
“My guild is strong, but we are only an S-rank guild because I’m the only Undefined Superhuman in it. There are many S-rank guilds in the world with other superhumans that are also Undefined, so if we want to get even more applications from higher-ranking superhumans, then we need to have a guild that is stronger than any other guild in the world. We need an Undefined guild. With you and me, we’ll have two of the three Undefined superhumans needed to make the guild an Undefined one, and once we can get a third Undefined superhuman to join, I’m sure that many other high-ranking superhumans would want to join as well.”
Mark immediately understood the sense in what Luna was saying. Powerful people always wanted to be seen as the best, and having the strongest guild in the world would make their guild the best.
Having the best guild would allow them to attract even more powerful people to them.
Mark leaned back with crossed arms and asked a question as the car slowly came to a stop beside the large Moonlight Guild building.
“But are you sure though? You built this guild up for a long time, so I’m sure you had a vision for what you wanted to do with it.”
Luna smiled in a strange way once Mark said this. Mark had no idea that Luna only created this guild because she didn’t want to be alone anymore. Luna was alone for most of her life, and even when she joined the Neptune Guild a long time ago, she was still alone because people were jealous of her power. Luna made the Moonlight Guild to give others a place they could belong. Luna never even thought that her guild would become one of the most powerful guilds in America, and it was simply due to how powerful she became that that guild grew to be so large. Luna cared about the guild, but the vision she had for it was already fulfilled.
“I don’t mind at all, babe. Just think about it and tell me what you decide later.”
Luna said this as she leaned forward and gave Mark a deep kiss. Mark kissed her back, and Luna smiled and gave Mark another quick peck after they separated. Luna then hugged Arit tightly, and Arit returned the hug with a smile before Luna waved them both goodbye and came down from the limo to head inside the building.
Once she was gone, Mark put his hand around Arit’s shoulder, and Arit leaned into him and looked up into his eyes as Mark asked her what she thought about all this.
Arit thought for a few seconds before she answered. Arit knew that Mark needed to do all of this because of the danger that was coming, so there was no need for him to hesitate. Uniting his guild with Luna’s guild would make things move ahead faster, and getting foreign superhumans to join his guild would only increase the power of his guild even more.
“I think you should do it. Luna was the one who brought it up, so she must’ve already thought about it and decided that she wanted to do this on her own. Freya said you needed to get many powerful allies as quickly as possible, so this is the fastest way.”
Mark nodded along in agreement to Arit’s words, and he turned to look out the car window. Mark decided that it would not be a bad idea to combine his guild with Luna’s guild, but he would have to start actively recruiting more superhumans as quickly as possible. Mark had already started his own training again under Raven. Raven was so shocked to see him come to the gym yesterday that she almost had a heart attack. But if Mark wanted the world to survive the coming battle, then he needed to get everybody to start training again. They needed to go on more missions, fight more battles, and increase their overall power levels. That was the only way they would survive against the Syndicate.
