Chapter 658: Confusing News
“We’ve gotten about fifty applications from A and S ranks all over the world, but there hasn’t been any Undefined that applied. There aren’t a lot of Undefined out there now, and those that exist already created their own guilds, but there has been news about some woman from Japan known as the Angel of Death. I think her name was Megumi or something. Yoshida Megumi? Yeah, that’s it. They say she can fight anima for days without ever growing tired, and the more she fights, the stronger she gets, almost like you. According to what I heard, she’s not in a guild right now, so I’m trying to get through to her, but it’s not exactly smooth sailing. The second sister-in-law’s been a big help though. Her guild’s reach is insane. They can get information almost as fast as I can. Almost.”

Mark laughed at Pat’s way of saying he was better than one of the strongest guilds in the world at getting information, and he finally said something that shocked Pat to the core.

“Luna offered to join our guilds together.”

Pat paused and stared at Mark for a few seconds before he scoffed. That was definitely the last thing that Pat expected to hear today. It wasn’t like Pat was against it since the Moonlight Guild was powerful in its own right. But joining their two guilds together was going to lead to a lot of official crap and political meandering. People had stock in the Moonlight Guild. Billions of dollars were invested in them, and joining the Vanguard guild to the Moonlight guild would automatically make it the Vanguard guild’s business what happens to all that money.

Would people still trust the Moonlight Guild if it joined up with a guild that was being run by two guys who weren’t even twenty yet!? Of course not!

“Your entire family just keeps giving me a fucking headache, Mark. Doesn’t Luna know that this is only going to give us more work down the line? We have to deal with everyone that might be against this. The investors, the superhumans, and even the regular employees. It’s a fucking headache!”

Mark shrugged and said that it was the smartest choice right now to grow their guild’s influence as quickly as possible and Pat cursed!

“Fuck, fine, just do whatever the fuck you want! If you and your girlfriends want to create a fucking dynasty, then you can go right ahead! But I’m not the one that’s going to handle the fucking paperwork!”

Mark chuckled as Pat threw his empty beer can across the room, and it slammed against the wall before falling to the ground noisily. Pat frowned at Mark in annoyance when he heard him laugh, and Mark raised his hand in surrender. Yeah, it was going to be a lot of work, and Mark was not going to be there for most of it since he was always fighting, so all of it was going to fall on Pat to handle. In a small way, Mark felt bad for the bastard.

But Pat had done far worse things to Mark, so he deserved this shit.

The door to the room opened again, and Jeanne walked out with a tired look on her face. Mark turned to see Arit giving him a sheepish look, and he raised an eyebrow and asked what was wrong. Jeanne explained that she had some problems scanning for the pregnancy. Arit’s physiology was perfectly human, but the presence of the QUEEN led to some complications, so they couldn’t do things the normal way.

Jeanne took a seat on the couch opposite Mark, and Arit went to sit beside Mark. Mark waited patiently for her to say something, and Pat grabbed another beer from the fridge and immediately started to go inside while saying he didn’t want any part of this! Pat knew that this was something personal for Mark and Arit, so he didn’t want to intrude at all. And he really wasn’t interested in hearing about Mark’s sex life.

After a while, Jeanne finally spoke.

“Well, I have some good news and some confusing news. The good news is that Arit is not pregnant. You two were right about your mistake that night; if Arit had been a normal human, she should have definitely gotten pregnant after missing her pills. But she isn’t, and that’s the confusing part.

“After Arit’s body absorbed the QUEEN, no one really knew what happened to her to make her the way she is now, so we can’t do anything but speculate. But from the analysis I carried out, I was able to see that Arit’s body is at the peak state for fertilization right now. It’s almost like by not taking that pill, Arit’s body realized that she was ready for impregnation and it moved more fat to her hips and increased her breast size so that once she got pregnant, she could be able to take care of the child. If you two had done it even one more time without Arit taking the pills, then she would have gotten pregnant without question.”

Mark was just staring at Jeanne in shock as he tried to absorb everything that she was saying. Most of it was very confusing because Mark had no idea how in the world a body could prepare itself for impregnation like that. Wasn’t that just puberty?

But the one thing that stuck with Mark out of everything Jeanne said was that Arit was not pregnant! That was all Mark had to know, and he felt some relief spreading through his body as he sighed happily.

Mark couldn’t believe how lucky they were! Jeanne said that Arit was in the perfect state for her to get pregnant right now and that if they had done it even one more time, then Arit would have definitely gotten pregnant! Mark’s mind immediately went back to all the times that they did it while they were in Freya’s trial and an amused chuckle escaped from Mark’s lips as he realized how fucking lucky they were! If they had done that in the real world they would’ve been fucked!

Mark wanted to have a lot of children in the future, so much that he would even forget their names sometimes, but he didn’t want to have that now!

Mark’s life was full of too much danger and uncertainty for him to also be worrying about taking care of a child! If Arit got pregnant, then Mark wanted it to be at a time when they were both ready to take care of their child together!

Arit was smiling widely from beside Mark, and Mark could tell that she was also very happy about the news. Mark wrapped his hand around Arit’s shoulder and gave her a kiss on the forehead. They were going to be alright.

Jeanne gave the two of them a small smile and shook her head at their reaction. If they were so worried about it, then maybe they shouldn’t have had sex so many times without any protection! They were just in high school, so they shouldn’t even be doing things like this in the first place!

Jeanne could feel somewhere in her heart that she was only this annoyed by their actions because she was a little jealous, but she didn’t even acknowledge that part at all! Jeanne couldn’t be jealous of some high schoolers!

Jeanne shook her head to get rid of those stupid thoughts and spoke up again.

“She’ll have to stay with me for about two days so I can monitor how things progress. But for now, you’re out of hot water.”
