Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 660
Chapter 660: Cleaning Up
Jeanne could have asked Pat for money to continue her lifestyle since she knew her brother was rich, but her pride just wouldn’t let her do that since she was the older sister. She was still feeling guilty over her absence in Pat’s life for so long, she couldn’t add a debt of gratitude to that as well.
Having Mark as her backer would allow Jeanne to start going around the world like she used to, helping out in any way she wanted without having to worry about how she would cover the expenses. And she decided that this might be the best choice.
Jeanne told Mark that she would really think about it and get back to him through Pat, and Mark smiled and gave Arit another kiss before he turned to leave, shouting out to Pat that he would see him later.
After he left, Mark texted Luna that he would be heading to her office after dealing with some anima sightings around the area. Although the anima had been mostly taken care of, there were still a lot of strong anima around that had survived the battles and were just lying in wait for someone to accidentally stumble upon them.
Thankfully, Mark was in the city, so the moment the distress call was sent out, Mark responded that he would be there.
…
ROARRRR!!!
A loud bison-based anima roared in agitation as it ran through multiple buildings and the people around it all ran away in fright as the moster tried to trample over them!
Mark took off his jacket and loosened his tie before rolling up the arms of his shirt and putting on his metal facemask as he walked up to the giant bison-based anima that was rampaging around the lower district of city S. There were various superhumans on the scene, but they were all keeping their distance since the monster was a Calamity class and they were all only A ranks and below. Most of the S ranks and above in the city were either injured or dead, so it was only the lower-ranked superhumans who had hidden when the stronger monsters showed up that were strong enough to respond to any distress call.
“Wait… is that him?”
“It’s the God Killer! Mark Vanitas is here!”
“Holy shit, it’s actually him! He came for a monster like this!? I thought he’d never respond to calamities again!”
“He isn’t like Gunter, you idiot! He doesn’t care about publicity!”
“Mark! Mark, over here! Oh my god, I love you!”
The people around began to clear a path once they saw Mark walking toward the monster at a calm pace. It was almost like a wave began to form around Mark as the voices around him got louder and louder, and even though Mark could hear what they were saying, he didn’t bother to pay it any mind. Mark wasn’t surprised they would think he wouldn’t respond to this monster. Most undefined didn’t bother paying any attention to monsters below Eldritch once they became popular enough. It was a way to both increase their own popularity and make sure people knew just how powerful they were.
But Mark didn’t care at all about any of that. Instead, Mark just wanted to fight!
DOOM!
[Demonic Killer’s Aura] has been activated!
The large bison that had been charging towards a broken-down building to try and skewer the people standing on top of it immediately stopped what it was doing once it felt Mark’s pressure pressing down on it, and Mark grinned as it turned its attention to him.
[Taunting] has been activated!
Mark felt an intense thrill going through his body as he was once again faced with a battle to the death. This wasn’t an intelligent creature like the angels that would beg for mercy or try to run away once they saw him. No, this was a monster that wanted nothing more than to kill him no matter what.
The bison immediately started to run towards him with the intent to skewer him with its horns, but just before it could get to Mark, it stopped dead in its tracks as it felt something grab it from behind! The large beast turned around in shock and saw that there was nothing there! But it could clearly feel something holding onto its leg! What was this!?
The creature couldn’t see it, but it was the chains of the [Fangs that Link The Heavens] that was holding it down! Mark grabbed the other end of the [Fangs that Link The Heavens] and pulled it taut, forcing the beast down to the ground and making sure it couldn’t move anymore! The bison released a cry of pain as it felt its body getting squeezed by the chains, and Mark gave one last mighty pull and watched as the monster’s body released a loud crack as its spine was broken in half!
CRACK!
All the superhumans in the area flinched in pain from watching the brutal display, and Mark turned to one of the superhumans at the side that he saw wearing the emblem of the Moonlight Guild and told her to take the monster with her to the guild building later before he leapt into the air and moved to another site where a distress call was coming from.
[The User has killed [1] Calamity Class. The user has gained +20 Stat Points]
[The User has killed [3] Calamity Class. The user has gained +60 Stat Points]
[The User has killed [2] Calamity Class Anima and [3] Disaster Class Anima. The user has gained +40 Stat Points and +20 Skill Points]
Mark continued like this for a while. He would respond to any distress call in the area and deal with the anima before anyone could even be hurt, then he would move on to another site and kill all the anima there as well, and by the time Mark was done, about an hour had gone by. Mark looked at his watch and saw that he was late to meeting up with Luna and he frowned.
Thankfully, there were no powerful anima this time, so Mark didn’t even have to expend that much energy. And since he dealt with all of them without needing to go all out, his clothes were just as pristine as the moment he started.

Mark walked away from the torn-apart body of a low-level Eldritch class anima and looked at the rewards gotten from the system for it.
[The User has killed [1] Low-Level Eldritch class anima. The user has gained +100 Skill Points +100 Stat Points]
This was really not going to be enough to do anything.
Mark frowned at the rewards as this thought crossed his mind. Mark had noticed it already before going on that trial for Freya, but his stats and skills were not so high that getting small amounts of boosts like these were just not going to cut it anymore. Mark had to find higher-level missions to go on so that he would be able to kill higher-level monsters and gain more from that. It was the only way Mark would be able to move from PHANTASMAL to TRANSCENDENTAL.
A black Vanitas Avatendor was waiting for Mark at the roadside. There were many journalists and superhumans around that were trying to get close, but the members of the Moonlight Guild were keeping them back to make a pathway for Mark to get to the car. The driver of that car was one of the human secretaries working with the Moonlight Guild, and he told Mark that he was sent personally by Luna to pick Mark up. The man had been following Mark from fight scene to fight scene all this while, and Mark just gave him a nod of thanks as he got in.
