Chapter 669: Give To Nature And Nature Will Give Back
Mark only stayed in the meditative state for an hour before he felt his mind start to wander through the consciousness of the world once more and he had to fight to keep his mind calm as that same thrilling sensation he felt before came back and threatened to throw off his concentration.
Mark had to keep taking calming breaths to make sure he didn’t get lost in the feelings that were spreading through him. Mark felt the birds in the air and the ants beneath him. He felt the worms in the soil and the movement of the trees as they swayed in the wind. But as Mark was starting to draw his consciousness into a bird once again to try and see through its eyes, Mark felt another splitting headache pass through his head.
“Ugh! Fucking piece of -”
“Relax.”
Raven’s voice suddenly came from in front of Mark when she saw that his concentration was being broken and Mark was able to bring himself back into a state of calmness once he heard her voice.
This time, rather than lose his concentration, Mark ignored the pain and took another deep breath to try and stay in his meditative state. The scenery in front of Mark changed slowly into the vast expanse of land below the bird as it soared through the sky, and Mark felt a smile spreading on his face!
“SQUAK! SQUAK!”
But the bird suddenly let out a squawk of fright and faltered in shock and fear as it lost its composure and started to fall from the sky!
“Fuck!”
A massive headache slammed into the side of Mark’s head and he had to immediately pull himself out from the bird’s mind as he held his head in pain! Raven was immediately beside Mark as she asked him what was wrong! Mark looked like he was in significant pain, and Raven had no idea what to do at that moment, so she just held Mark and put her hand on his shoulder gently while he tried to get rid of the pain.
After a few seconds, Raven was surprised to hear a low chuckle escape Mark, and she slowly let go of him as his chuckle transformed into full-blown laughter! Raven asked Mark if he had finally gone mad, and Mark shook his head and fell on his back with his arms spread wide. Mark stared up at the mahogany ceiling of the gym while speaking.
“I think I know what went wrong. I’ll have to try it a few more times to be sure, but I think I can finally do it.”
Raven wondered what the hell Mark was talking about, but she didn’t pry as she just sat down and continued smoking. As long as Mark was okay, she was willing to stay with him as long as he needed her to.
Mark sighed as he remembered the sensation of flying, and he knew that he was going to go back up there again no matter what. It only lasted for a few moments, but it had been amazing.
…
Mark discovered during that flight session in the mind of the bird that he didn’t have as much control over this power as he thought he did! When Mark first got this power, he thought that he was going to be able to connect with any plant or animal without limitation, as long as he had a calm mind and body! But Mark was wrong!
It wasn’t that Mark was connecting with the plants and animals around him! Mark was connecting with the plants and animals around him, and they were also connecting with Mark!
When Mark had forced his way into the mind of that bird, Mark noticed that the bird was terrified! It was a strange sensation to suddenly have another person in your mind, and the bird didn’t even know what was happening to it as it slowly lost control of its body! That meant that Mark had to find a way to gain the trust of these creatures before he would be able to enter deeper into their minds.
And since Mark was able to go deeper into the mind of the bird on the second try than he was able to on the first try, Mark realized that he didn’t need to do too many things to gain the trust of these creatures! Mark just had to continue training and connecting with nature as much as possible! If Mark was able to become one with nature and gain a better understanding of it and everything around it, then the creatures in nature would see Mark as something natural. That way, if Mark wanted to get into the mind of any of these creatures, he would be able to do it without any trouble at all!
Mark took in another deep breath as he finished the water that Raven brought for him and he went back down to the ground and started to meditate once again. Today was one of the only days Mark had to train all on his own, so Mark was going to use the most of it and train all the way into the night. By the time he left here, Mark wanted to be able to communicate with an animal for at least five minutes.
Raven watched as Mark went back under again, and this time it didn’t even take up to an hour before Mark’s tattoo started to glow again! Since Mark had explained to her that it wasn’t dangerous, Raven didn’t run away from the light anymore. Instead, she went and sat down beside Mark to watch him! Raven couldn’t really explain it, even if she wanted to, but whenever Mark was using this skill, there was just something that it did to her.
It was like a sense of calmness and peace surged through her body once that light activated, and it made Raven feel like she could trust Mark no matter what. That was the reason why Raven didn’t even go far when the light activated for the first time. Raven was scared of the light, but she was also fascinated by the light and just stayed behind the door that wouldn’t even be able to protect her at all so that she could watch it for longer!
Raven looked at the time and saw that it was two in the afternoon, and she sighed and crossed her legs. Raven knew that Mark was going to be here training all day, so she didn’t need to worry about him. Raven just closed her eyes as she also entered a meditative state.
The next time Mark opened his eyes, it was already dark outside and he turned to the side to see Raven leaning against his shoulder while snoring lightly! She had fallen asleep sometime in the middle of her meditation, and Mark just laughed lightly as he allowed her to keep sleeping. Raven would be mortified when she woke up and saw where she was lying down, and Mark was definitely going to use this against her in the future!
Mark turned to the time and saw that he had been under for close to eight hours now. It was already nearing ten at night, and Mark knew Arit would start getting worried if he didn’t call her soon.
