Chapter 683: Join The Vanguard Guild
Tina had also been offered a promotion to the assistant head of the training division of the Superhuman Alliance after her contributions in the previous battles. The training division was responsible for preparing new superhuman agents for battle and polishing the skills of older ones. It was one of the most prestigious divisions in the entire association and Turner knew that Tina would do great in there if she joined, but the idiot had turned it down!
Turner couldn’t believe how fucking stupid Tina was! How do you turn down such an attractive offer just so that you can go and become a lackey in another guild!?
As far as Turner was concerned, Tina had made the wrong decision and he had tried his best to make her change her mind since he knew that the offer from the Superhuman Alliance was still open, but no matter how much he tried to make her change her mind, she was impossible to convince!
A chuckle came from in front of them, and Turner was surprised when he turned around and saw that it was Mark who was chuckling. For a moment, Turner thought Mark was laughing at how stupid Tina’s decision was as well and he almost laughed along, but once Mark spoke, Turner realized that he had been wrong.
“I’ll be happy to have you in the guild, Tina. Just don’t jump me in front of the other recruits.”
It was like Christmas had come early for Tina! Her face glowed as a massive smile spread across her lips! She shouted a loud ‘Marky!’ and was about to run at Mark again, but two sets of eyes glared at her, and she immediately went back to hiding behind Turner in fear! But that smile on her face never died down as she thanked Mark again for taking her in.
Turner sighed in defeat. Turner didn’t like the idea of separating from his sister, but he knew that once she made up her mind about something, it would take the literal end of the world before you could make her change her mind! It just wasn’t worth it!
And besides, Turner knew that he did not have any right to make Tina stay in the Superhuman Alliance after what they did to Mark and Arit earlier. The Superhuman Alliance was responsible for the raid on the Red Lotus hotel when they tried to capture Arit, and from what Turner heard, it was during that raid that Mark was taken away. Tina had taken a long time to forgive him for what he did, but she never forgave the Superhumans Alliance for what they did. Turner was surprised when Tina never said anything about his involvement in that raid to anyone. And since Alec Ben didn’t say anything either, so it was like Turner was erased from the history of that failed raid. Turner owed Tina a lot for not exposing his involvement when he knew that she could’ve done it just to spite him
Turner knew that Tina would be happier in the Vanguard guild than she would ever be in the Superhuman Alliance, so he just accepted her choice.
“How about you, Turner? I could always do with more intellectual superhumans in my guild. We have our own Assessment Division and you’ll make one hell of a head for it.”
Turner blinked in surprise as he gave Mark a look. Was Mark trying to poach him away from the Superhuman Alliance right now? Turner felt something like electricity travel through his body at that thought, and Turner only realized a split second later that it was pride that was filling him.
Turner felt proud of himself that he was so good that the strongest superhuman in the world would want to poach him like this, but Turner had a strong sense of morals. He was not the sort of person to just change his mind on a whim when a better option appeared in front of him. If Turner was the sort of person to change his mind so easily, he would have already abandoned Tina ages ago.
Turner shook his head and was about to refuse, but he was interrupted.
“We’ll pay you far more than the Superhuman Alliance is. I know what your salary is, I’ll double it and add in another bonus at Christmas.”
Luna was the one who spoke this time. Luna had a small smile on her face as she watched Turner closely! Tina cried out in protest from behind Turner when she heard how much they wanted to pay Turner! They weren’t going to be paying her that much, so it was unfair! But Tina was mainly a frontline fighter, so her main source of income was from the anima corpses that she killed. If Turner joined their guild, then he would be one of the members of the administrative board and a division head, which would mean that his main source of income would be from the salary they gave him.
Turner sighed and scratched the back of his head as he felt pressured when both of them were looking at him so expectantly. These two were the strongest superhumans in the world, so it was difficult for anyone to even look them in the eye and speak when put on the spot like this.
But finally, the last person he expected to speak up came forward and spoke up for him.
“Hey, you’re pressuring him too much. Do you really want someone to join the guild under this much pressure?”
Arit walked up to Mark and Luna. She bumped her shoulder against Luna’s own to make Luna loosen up a little before taking Mark’s arm and hugging it tightly. Arit gave Turner a look and Turner eyed Arit suspiciously as she smiled at him. Turner still had a small amount of distrust for Arit after what happened earlier. Arit had killed people, and Turner could never forget that. Even if the Superhuman Alliance had brushed it under the rug and allowed Arit to go free after her actions during the previous battle, Turner couldn’t forget because he was the one who caught her.
But Arit didn’t know any of these things. Alec Ben didn’t reveal Turner’s involvement in the case and Tina never said anything because she wanted to protect her brother, so Arit only saw Turner as a previous classmate.
Arit continued speaking.
“If Turner wants to join, then he should join in his own time. Forcing him to is only going to make him feel guilty and he won’t work as well as he should.”
Mark released a calm breath and nodded at Arit’s logic. It made sense. Mark hadn’t even known that he was putting pressure on Turner, so it was good that someone pointed it out to him.
Mark waved at Turner and told him that the doors of the guild were always going to be open for him if he ever got tired of the nonsense the government always did before Mark started to walk away with Arit and Luna.
“Bye Marky!!”
Tina shouted out a greeting to Mark, and Mark just grinned as he felt Arit’s hand tighten against his arm. Arit was really not happy with Tina, but Mark was glad that she was trying so hard to hold back. At least, Mark was sure that Tina wouldn’t be as aggressive as before now that Luna had warned her, so things should be fine for the foreseeable future.
