Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 694
Chapter 694: Brazilian Mamba
After so many back-to-back missions with him, both Luna and Arit had grown exponentially. Arit managed to break into the PHANTASMAL rank, and from what MAKR saw with his [True Sight], she was already close to becoming a PHANTASMAL Rank II. Luna was even more impressive. Luna had been right beside Mark in all of his missions, and she was able to make it to PHANTASMAL Rank III faster than even Mark thought she would. Mark was sure that with just a little more experience or training, Luna would be able to break into the TRANSCENDENTAL rank.
But even with all the various anima that showed themselves all around the world and the number of times that the Vanguard guild had been dispatched to deal with them, Mark was confused when he didn’t see a single Armageddon-class anima showing up anywhere. After that Armageddon-class monster showed up in America it was as though no more Armageddon monsters were attacking any city in the world. No matter the report Mark and the Vanguard guild received, it would always be for the subjugation of an Eldritch-class monster or lower.
Most people saw this as a good thing. There were no more Armageddon-class monsters that could destroy an entire continent to worry about! Of course they would be happy about that! But Mark didn’t see it this way. Mark had taken the warning from the gods very seriously and Mark knew that there was going to be another great attack like the one that happened in America eventually. If the Armageddon class members weren’t showing up now, then were they going to be showing up later? And was there going to be more than one this time? Mark didn’t know the answer to these questions, but he had to find out.
Sozin was still not answering any of Mark’s summons. No matter the situation, Mark just couldn’t reach his patron god. Even when Mark tried to reach Sozin about the trials that he would be getting after every advancement in rank, there was no response from him, and Mark could only conclude that Sozin was doing all of this because of the coming battle that he spoke about.
Was the situation so serious that none of the gods could communicate with humans at all?
That was the only reason Mark could see for Sozin not talking to him. There had to be some sort of cosmic penalty or barrier preventing the gods from reaching their champions. Even the other blessed superhumans like Luna, who would sometimes speak to their gods, were no longer able to reach them, so Mark just decided to stop trying as well.
“Babe, how do you feel about stopping at McRonalds before heading home?”
BOOM!
Luna’s voice came through Mark’s comms, and Mark only half-listened to it as he dashed to the side to avoid a rain of acid that was shot at him! Mark changed direction and began to dash towards a large Snake-type anima that hissed at him angrily! The anima was an Eldritch-class in the form of a black mamba. It had midnight black skin and was more than three hundred meters long! It had coiled itself around a large tree in the middle of a forest, and when it moved its head to the side, it blocked out the moonlight above and cast a shadow on the trees around it!
[Storm Chaser]!
BZZT!
Lightning danced around Mark as Mark activated the innate skill gotten from his current constitution! The lightning increased in intensity before forming into a long lance that shot toward the large snake at sonic speed! The snake quickly tried to use its scales to block the attack, but it screeched in pain as it felt the lightning lance stab into its scales and leave deep gashes in them! The snake quickly dropped to the ground to avoid the remaining lances once it realized that it could get hurt by them, and it started trying to gain some distance between it and Mark to come up with a new plan!
Mark dashed towards the mamba and the mamba lashed out with a tail swipe! Mark easily slapped its tail to the side before he could get hit and once he was close enough, Mark grabbed a hold of the mamba’s body, and blue light streaked across the sky as he activated the innate skill of his gauntlet!
[Lightening Surge] has been activated!!
BZZZTTT!
The mamba hissed in pain and immediately lashed out with its mouth wide open to try and slam into Mark, but Mark grabbed hold of the snake’s large teeth before it could swallow him!
BOOM!
Mark’s legs dug into the ground from the intense force that snake used to slam into him, but Mark didn’t even feel any pressure from the blow at all! The snake was only an Eldritch and Mark has handled so many Eldritchs in the past few months that this was like child’s play to him! The smile on Mark’s face only widened as he jumped to put his foot on the snake’s snout before he pulled back hard!
CRACK!
SCREEEEECHH!
The snake cried out in pain as both of its fangs were broken off easily, and Mark threw the fangs to the side like trash and put a hand up to his ear to speak into the comms while ignoring the screaming snake!
“Yeah, that sounds nice. Arit’ll like that. We haven’t gone out together in a while, so it’ll be my treat. How are things looking over there?”
The Vanguard guild was currently carrying out a subjugation mission on a large snake pit on an island close to Brazil. It was an absolutely beautiful place with a wide thriving rainforest and numerous exotic wildlife living there, and Mark would have appreciated it more if not for the thousands of snakes that had made this place their home! The leader of the snakes was the large High-level Eldritch that Mark was currently fighting against, and all the other snakes there were between Calamity to Disaster class, with a few of them having enough strength to be seen as Low-level Eldritch.
The black mamba had finally stopped screaming and it immediately started calling on reinforcements! It didn’t stand a chance against someone like Mark! It was going to get killed if it tried to fight against Mark alone! There were many other snakes here and the mamba was their leader, so it was sure that it would be able to get some help, but it was stunned when it did not receive any response from the other snakes around, and it realized in shock that all of them had been killed!
Luna’s voice came through the comms as she responded to Mark’s question.
“Yeah, babe, we’re almost done here. I’m just making sure they clean things up properly so we can transport the corpses back. Arit called earlier and said she was still at the hospital. It might be another long day for her.”
Mark hummed in response to Luna’s statement, and he put his hands on his hips while watching the snake calmly. The mamba was shocked that it didn’t receive a response from its subordinates, and once it saw the calm confidence on Mark’s face, it realized that there was no way it was going to be winning this fight! Mark wasn’t even releasing any of his pressure, but the complete lack of interest in Mark’s eyes told the Mamba that Mark was something far beyond what it could handle! It was going to die if it stayed here!
