Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 695
Chapter 695: Low Rewards
The mamba turned and quickly tried to slither away from Mark, but Mark grabbed the snake by its tail just before it could get away, and its entire body jerked as it was pulled back against its will!
DRAG!!
HISSSSS!!
The snake hissed and thrashed like a dying worm, and it felt its entire body growing lighter as it was suddenly lifted into the air!
WOOSH!
BANG!
Mark slammed the snake into the ground with enough force to send tremors through the entire island, and the snake’s body twitched a few times before it suddenly rose into the air again!
BANG!
Another great tremor traveled through the island as Mark slammed the snake into the ground with even more force than before! And this time, Mark didn’t even see the snake twitch at all as it finally went still!

Mark frowned as he saw the rewards he got for killing the snake. Normally, an Eldritch-class monster like this one would give Mark thousands of points and maybe even a title or skill as a reward, but after killing so many Eldritch-class monsters for the past five months, Mark was no longer able to get as many rewards as he used to. Killing an Eldritch now gave him only as many points as killing a simple Disaster Class would’ve given him a few months ago!
With his level of power, killing an Eldritch-class was now as easy as squashing a bug under Mark’s feet, and since the system gave rewards based on the level difference between Mark and his opponent, the system would only give Mark a couple of hundred points for killing something so easily!

Mark released a calm sigh as he just closed the tab in front of him and looked around disinterestedly. Mark was a little frustrated by the fact that there hadn’t been any powerful monsters around lately. Going around killing Eldritch class monsters was now so easy that it was like a lion hunting for rats. It just wasn’t as fulfilling as a hunt was supposed to be, but Mark also couldn’t complain too much since it meant that the world was relatively safe.
SQUAWK!
A loud cry reached Mark from a distance, and Mark looked up into the sky to see a large hawk soaring over his head. The hawk moved around to survey the area for a few seconds before it released another cry and started to come down to Mark. The tattoo on Mark’s forehead started to glow with a dull light as the hawk approached him, and Mark put out his hand to allow the hawk to land there!
SQUAWK!
The hawk flapped its wings a few times and released another loud cry once it landed! Its eyes were also glowing with the same dull golden light as Mark’s tattoo, and the hawk stayed calm on Mark’s arm as the both of them just looked at each other.
The hawk was one of the animals that Mark had managed to tame on this island to help him with surveying the island for more anima. Mark had been practicing using his tattoo to communicate with animals all this while, and after more than a month of trying and failing to get into the heads of animals over and over again, Mark was finally able to find a way to enter their heads without scaring them or driving them mad.
The first animal that Mark tried it on was a dog that came to the same park that he would normally take Talia to. It was the pet of one of the families that came there, and it was hostile towards anyone other than its family members, so it never allowed any of the other children to play with it. But when Mark got into its head and lowered its hostility a little, he was able to command the dog to play with the children without too much trouble.
After Mark was sure that it was possible to control animals with the tattoo, he started to try his abilities out on more powerful creatures like eagles and bears that were in the forests that Mark would go to subjugate anima in. Right now, Mark had more than twenty animal species that he could form a mental connection with, and he could communicate with them and see through their eyes whenever he was close enough to open the link to them through his tattoo.
This hawk was one of the first animals that Mark had formed a permanent contract with. It was only a little hawk when Mark first saw it, and it had snuck into Mark’s aircraft when he was in Australia five months ago. Mark easily formed a bond with it, and after seeing how willing it was to come with him, Mark just decided that he would keep it around as his scout whenever he was on a mission like this, where he had to separate from his allies.
Thanks to the innate effect of Mark’s [Crown of The Golden Horizon], which allowed him to strengthen all his allies, he was able to strengthen the body of the hawk and every other animal under his control so that they were far stronger than any regular animal. They weren’t nearly as strong as even the lowest ranking anima, but they were powerful enough not to die from a single hit or attack.
After some time, Mark’s tattoo began to dim until it died out, and the hawk’s eyes also dimmed and turned back to their normal brown as it released another large cry and flew off Mark’s hand to go to his shoulder. Mark had gotten a full view of the surrounding area from the hawk’s eyes, and Mark was sure now that the island was cleared of all the snakes that had been here. The Vanguard guild was being organized by Luna to pile all of the defeated anima into a heap so that they could easily transport them, and there were a few helicopters arriving from the mainland to where Luna was so that they could take the anima corpses.
After a few seconds, a few people appeared from within the trees, and Mark turned to them and gave them a nod when they all greeted him respectfully. The people who came were members of the clean-up crew in the Vanguard guild. The clean-up crew was made up of mainly A to C rank superhumans who did not have the strength to keep up with the stronger members of the guild in a subjugation like this one. When Luna was running the Moonlight Guild, she made sure that only superhumans who were S rank and above took part in actual combat since she knew that anyone weaker would be killed easily by a single hit from an Eldritch, and Mark decided to keep that tradition going since it was the smartest way to make sure the guild did not suffer too many losses.
