Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 697
Chapter 697: Care Less
Now, Arit and Jeanne were together most of the time helping out in the new Vanguard hospital that Mark had opened after buying out the previous owners of the privately owned City S General Hospital. Mark hadn’t intended to do anything special with the hospital at first. It was just another way for him to get some more money for the guild. But after Jeanne expressed interest in turning the hospital into a large superhuman-focused facility that was open to every superhuman in the world for treatment, Mark finally handed over the running and handling of the hospital to Jeanne.
And now, with Jeanne in charge of running the hospital and all the different superhumans from different countries who could come to the hospital because of how wide the Vanguard guild’s reach was, Jeanne didn’t have to travel all over the world as often as she used to. Jeanne only left for other countries whenever there was a serious disaster with patients that couldn’t be brought to the hospital or if another hospital in another country specifically requested her help for a patient.
Pat asked Jeanne once if she didn’t miss traveling as much as she used to, but Jeanne just told Pat that she had seen enough of the world to last her a lifetime. Jeanne was already getting tired of moving around so much and she would rather spend more time in one place and stay with Pat instead. That was the first time Pat gave Jeanne a genuine smile in a long time.
Mark reached where Luna was still ordering the other superhumans around and landed gently in the middle of the large crowd. Many of the superhumans stopped what they had been doing the moment they saw him and began to whisper with looks of awe on their faces. Even after all this time, many new members of the guild were still in awe whenever they saw Mark.
It was no longer news to anyone that Mark was the strongest man in the world, and after seeing Mark handling many Eldritch class anima so effortlessly, they all felt like he was some sort of god that had descended from heaven rather than a regular human.
Luna noticed Mark once he landed. Luna was wearing a pair of white joggers and a loose white t-shirt that made it easier for her to move around while fighting. There was a bit of dirt on her shirt and joggers from the fight she had just gone through, but her face and hair were just as immaculately clean as always.
Luna had also grown stronger in the past five months, and when Mark used his [True Sight] on her, this is what her stats looked like.

Luna had been frowning while looking through one of the reports that her assistant brought to her to make sure that everything was in order, but once she saw Mark, her face brightened into a smile as she handed the file back to the assistant and told them that they could go ahead with what they had been doing.
Mark walked up to Luna and she accepted his kiss happily, blushing slightly when Mark smiled down at her when they separated. Mark asked Luna if she was still busy or if she could leave the rest of the work to the other superhumans.
“Pat wants to talk to us back at HQ. It’s likely about the syndicate, so I think we should go quickly.”
Luna’s face turned serious once she heard Mark mention the syndicate. Even though Luna didn’t know much about them, she had learned enough to be wary of anything that they were involved in.
There were some other high-ranking members of the guild here, so Mark was sure that they could handle the rest of the work and Luna told him that she was free to go back already.
Luna called on one of her vice-captains and told him to take over the operation. The man nodded respectfully to both her and Mark before he watched as they made their way to their personal helicopter that was parked on the other side of the island.
…
“Arit, go to ward 5. The patient there needs a quick check-up. And when you’re done with that, come help me in the ER.”
Jeanne spoke up quickly while walking past the door leading to Arit’s personal office and Arit spoke up quickly as she grabbed her white coat and stood up.
“Yes, Jeanne!”
Arit had been looking through a large anatomy textbook that Jeanne told her to memorize by the end of the week when Jeanne called on her. Arit had grown a lot over the past five months. Arit’s birthday had passed a few months ago, so she was now legally an adult, and the move into adulthood brought about some sort of maturity in Arit that hadn’t been there before. Arit was wearing a white t-shirt and a black skirt that came down to just above her knees with black heels.
Her hair was done up into a bun that she held together using one of the pins that Mark had gotten for her at a carnival a few months ago, and somehow, her figure had gotten even more mature in the past five months! Arit’s breasts and hips were already like that of a fully grown woman, but now it was no longer just large, it was also well filled out and it gave her a mature look that would make anyone see her like a big sister they could depend on.
“Jeanne, have you heard anything from the guild yet? Is Mark done with the mission?”
Arit hurried out from her office and asked that question before Jeanne could leave and Jeanne turned around with a hum before she shook her head. Mark and Luna had gone to an island in Brazil to help out with an Eldritch class subjugation, and Jeanne was already used to Arit asking about how the mission was going. Arit didn’t like calling them while they were on missions because she knew that they might be in the middle of a fight and she didn’t want to distract them, so the easiest way to know if they were done was by watching to see if the guild was already bringing the injured superhumans to the hospital or not.
Thankfully, Arit’s worrying didn’t interfere with her work, so Jeanne didn’t bother telling her to focus.
Arit frowned a little when Jeanne said that she hadn’t heard anything before Arit thanked Jeanne and grabbed her clipboard to go and carry out the test that Jeanne told her to do.

As Arit walked, she could hear some hushed conversations and whispers around her. Arit was sure that no one was intentionally trying to make her hear what they were saying, but Arit was a superhuman, so there was no way she wouldn’t be able to hear what was being said.
“That’s her, right? The high school girl? Are you sure? That body doesn’t look like something a high school girl should have.”
“Yeah, that’s her. Her name’s Arit Clayborne. She’s been dating the God Killer for a long time now.”
“I can’t believe she used connections to get in here. If she wasn’t GHOST’s girlfriend, there’s no way she could become an apprentice at this age.”
“She looks like a good girl, but I guess even good people won’t mind using their connections to rise in the world. Tch. Fucking nepotism.”
Arit completely ignored the nonsense that was being spoken about her as she turned a corner and finally started to make her way towards Ward Room 5. Arit knew that a lot of people weren’t happy about her becoming an apprentice at such a young age. The medical world was a very competitive space and most of the people that were in this hospital had to work their asses off for years before they could even get a single foot in the door.
For them to see someone like Arit who didn’t even properly finish high school suddenly rising in the ranks and becoming the apprentice of one of the best doctors in the world, it was obvious that it would leave a bad taste in their mouths.
But Arit couldn’t care less.
