Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 719
Chapter 719: The Bishop
The creature in the cave had black skin and long white hair that went all the way down to the ground and pooled at its feet in waves! It didn’t have a mouth or a nose, and its slitted eyes were narrowed into a permanent glare that made it seem constantly irritated by everything around it.
The creature had the figure of a woman. Its breasts and hips were moderately sized, and strange white lines traveled down its body in erratic whirling patterns like a full-body tattoo. As the creature looked around the cave, it gained a look of slight disgust in its eyes as it glanced over the dimly lit and dreary atmosphere in the cave. The cave was slightly wet and there was mold growing out of various parts of the walls.
The creature had been here for the past year, and it was already tired of this dark, pitiful cave. It had no idea how the Spider could afford to live like this for so long. Spider could afford to live like this for so long. It wanted to see the sun.
“Bishop, you are awake.”
A gruff voice spoke up from the side of the cave, and the female creature turned towards it with an uninterested gaze. Her eyes fell upon a figure in the dark, and she waited patiently for the creature there to reveal itself. The creature in the darkness was a large humanoid beast that had the head of a lizard and large bulking muscles that made it seem like a very tough bodybuilder. It had green scaly skin and a long tail growing out from behind it.
The Bishop only blinked slowly as she waited for the lizard-man to say something, and the lizard came forward and fell to a knee in front of her before bowing its head and speaking.
“Bishop, we sent out the sentries as you ordered. They had a run-in with the QUEEN against your orders, and two of them were killed in the process. I have dealt with all the other survivors for their disobedience, but before they died, I learned that the QUEEN possessed enough strength to overpower and kill two S-rank beasts easily, and her bloodthirst was thick enough to be felt even from the other side of the city. I am certain that she is the one we are looking for. The human KING was also present at the scene, but he did not do anything worth noting.”
The Bishop gained an excited glint in her eyes once she heard about the Human KING, but then it disappeared just as quickly as it came, and her eyes narrowed back into their bored and detached look. The Bishop hummed as she turned her head to look at the ceiling while crossing her legs. So the beast went against her orders and attacked the QUEEN? That was not what she wanted at all.
SLASH!
THUD!
SPLURT!!
All of a sudden, without any warning at all, a sound like a moving blade echoed through the area and slashed across the lizard-man’s neck! The head of the large bulking lizard fell off his shoulder and landed on the ground with a thud, and blood sprayed over the floor of the cave! The Bishop released a bored sigh as she kicked her crossed leg back and forth gently as a strand of her hair returned to her. The Bishop’s hair glistened in the dim light of the cave to reveal just how sharp and deadly each one of them was.
The fool had gone against her orders to not attack the QUEEN, and he thought that killing his subordinates would be enough to make up for it? Did he really think he could come in here and report it to her with that much confidence? Is he stupid? Did he think that she would allow him to live just because he brought the news to her?
The Bishop turned to the darkness at her side and she watched as another large creature walked out and came forward to kneel in front of her just like the large lizard had done. This creature was like a cross between a human and a boar. It had the head of a pig with large tusks and black skin that seemed very tough. The creature was strong enough to be regarded as a low-level Eldritch class. But there was nothing that could stop the slight fear that it felt while kneeling in front of the bishop.
The Bishop hadn’t shown any bloodlust all this time.
There hadn’t even been a single indication of anger in the Bishop’s eyes when she killed the lizard-man. It was as if she was just bored and decided to kill him. The way the bishop could easily switch from easy-going to murderous and then back to easy-going again was enough to put fear in the heart of the boar-man. One wrong word and it might be his head rolling on the floor next.
The boar-man just waited quietly for the Bishop to tell him what she wanted to, and it wasn’t until about ten minutes later that she finally spoke.
“The Rook wishes to cull the strongest of the humans. He has already begun his plan, but he will need reinforcements. I think it is about time I made my way out of this darkness, I have grown bored of it. It’s time I went out and made myself useful to our KING. Prepare the legion and have them move to the Rook’s position in time.”
The Bishop did not have any visible mouth she was speaking out of, but the voice rang clear through the area, showing that she was speaking from somewhere. The boar-man nodded his head to her words and only asked one question.
“And what of the QUEEN, Bishop?”
The bishop sighed tiredly and fell back to lie down on the ground while answering in a lackluster manner. The Bishop was too tired to worry about the QUEEN right now, and since the Anima KING had still not said anything about her, the Bishop didn’t see any reason why they had to change their plans to deal with the QUEEN. It would be more sensible to focus on what they had already put into motion.
“I don’t care about the QUEEN, and I won’t waste my time chasing traitors. I can’t believe she abandoned her role beside our KING and chose to follow the human KING instead. What a slut. Just leave her be for now until we are done with the humans. In due time, we will meet with her, and when that happens, I’ll handle things as I see fit.”
…
BOOM!
A massive explosion rang out from the Seine River as a large piranha-based anime flew out from it with its mouth wide open to reveal multiple rows of sharp teeth! It headed straight for Mark, and Mark used the back of his hand to smack it to the side easily!
SLAP!
BURST!
The fish was blown to pieces by the blow, but in the next seconds, a second one appeared from the side to attack Mark, and then more and more joined in the attack as an entire school of fishes headed for Mark!
[Mark, can you hear me? What’s that sound in the background?]
“Hector, this really isn’t the best time for this.”

An elderly voice came through Mark’s comlink as Mark activated [Lightening Surge] to deal with the school of piranha and Mark felt a smile tugging at his lips as his godfather, Hector, complained about the noise being created by the anima in the background. Mark responded in his usual nonchalant way, and his godfather quickly spoke up again.
[Mark, I thought you said you’d be free today. We need to talk about the quarterly revenue growth for the Vanitas franchise. The predicted growth has been surpassed, but the regular tax flow isn’t going to be covered by our liquid assets anymore. We need a new revenue stream to cover for it -]
Mark laughed.
