Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 722
Chapter 722: Ensuing Chaos
The coffee came a few minutes later, and Luna thanked the young woman who brought it. The young woman bowed with an excited blush on her face before she left and Luna took a drink and sighed with a small smile as she seemed to finally be getting back to her normal self. Luna hummed as she continued to drink from the cup, but after only a few seconds, her eyes turned up as she glared at the large man sitting at the other end of the table. If Luna remembered correctly, then this man was named Alpha One. He was the former leader of the Alphas before Alec became a part of them and took charge. What the fuck was he looking at?
“Is there something on my face?”
Luna frowned as she asked this question to Alpha One, and Alpha One just harrumphed as he spoke up while still looking at her.
“I wondered what sort of person you were, Luna of the Moonlight guild. I heard about the things you have done. How you fought against the Elder Eldritch monster and won easily, and how you were a part of the Armageddon subjugation. And I also heard about how you attacked my subordinate when she was defenseless. I expected someone more uncultured to appear, but to think that you actually possess manners.”
Luna felt her eyes trail from Alpha One towards Alpha Six, who was seated at his side. This was the first time that Luna and Alpha One were sitting in the same room together, and Luna was surprised that Alpha One was bringing this up now, almost five months after it happened. Was he stupid?
“Your subordinate attacked my friend first. It was only right that I stopped her. She should consider herself lucky that she wasn’t killed in the process.”
Alpha One seemed to latch onto what Luna just said as he leaned forward in his seat. Alpha One was a large man with bulking muscles. There were two huge one-handed swords at his side, and Luna knew that it would be impossible for him to wield swords like those unless he was very skilled.
Alpha One spoke up in a low, almost conspiratorial manner.
“Your friend? Do you mean that monster that has managed to make everyone accept her as human? The anima in human skin?”
DOON!
Luna’s pressure suddenly pressed down on everyone in the room once Alpha One said this, and Turner released a choked grunt as he slammed his two hands on the table to try and prevent himself from falling over! Fuck, the pressure was insane!
Luna turned back to glare at Alpha One with a blank look on her face. Alpha Once was still staring back at Luna without showing too much strain from the pressure that Luna was releasing and Luna spoke up in a final tone.
“One more word from you, and the Alphas will be down one member. That is a promise. You speak of monsters, but do you think it is a secret what you are? A superhuman that I had never met before suddenly showed up from nowhere and became one of the most powerful in America overnight. Do you really believe that all the information about how you were created has been lost? You have no right to speak of monsters in human skin, you mana junkie.”
Most of the Alphas in the room squirmed under the intensity of Luna’s words and stare, but Alpha One only felt anger surging from inside him! A vein in his neck bulged as he grit his teeth! How dare this bitch say that they were monsters when they were created for the sake of America!
Alpha One was about to get to his feet, but another pressure suddenly filled the room and everyone turned to Alec!
Alec had been sitting quietly all this while because he didn’t like involving himself in conflicts that didn’t affect him, but once he heard what Luna said, as well as the way Alpha One was provoking her, he couldn’t just stay on the sideline either.
Over the past five months, Alec had also been training seriously. After seeing that Mark was now faster than him, Alec felt like he was losing out on the one aspect of his superhuman ability where he was the best, and he trained harder than ever before to make sure that he was faster than anyone else. Alec still didn’t know if he was faster than Mark yet, but he knew for sure that he was far stronger than he was five months ago, so as he was now, he was more than capable of putting any of the members in the Alpha Squad in their place.
Alec glared at Alpha One as his pressure pressed down on him together with Luna’s, and Alpha One finally started to show some strain on his face as the intensity of both pressures threatened to make him buckle. But Alpha One refused to bow his head as he turned to glare at his leader.
Alec only said one word.
“Enough.”
Alpha One clicked his tongue in annoyance before he finally turned away and leaned back in his seat. Beside him, Alpha Two chuckled and took a picture of Alpha One’s frowning face with his iPhone before posting it on social media.
“Oi! Delete that right now!”
Alpha Three immediately shouted at Alpha Two once she saw what Alpha Two was doing, and Alpha Two just chuckled as he took a picture of her as well! The Alphas started to raise their voices at each other as Alpha Two and Alpha Three almost got into a fight, and Luna just sighed and leaned back in her seat as she decided not to involve herself in the madness. Alec then turned to Luna with an apologetic look and bowed his head to her slightly, and Luna just waved it away to tell him that it was fine. Luna understood how difficult it was to try and lead a bunch of superpowered beings, so there was no way Alec would be able to keep them all in check.
“Alphas, I think it would be best for everyone if you all remained quiet.”
Henry Ford finally spoke up from the front of the room, and all the Alphas turned to look at him. Once they saw the strained smile on his face and felt how he was desperately trying to keep his cool, they realized that maybe they were going too far, and they all went quiet and relaxed back in their seats. Even though all the Alpha’s had high egos that prevented them from ever backing down from a fight, they all knew better than to piss off the man that created them.
The room waited in silence for a while, and it wasn’t until thirty minutes later that the sound of a helicopter landing on the roof made Luna open her eyes blearily. Mark had arrived.
Up on the roof, Mark came down from his helicopter with Louise following beside him. Mark was explaining to Louise what they were going to do with the bodies of the piranhas that they had just killed.
It turned out that the wave of piranhas that they killed in the Seine River was just one of multiple schools of piranhas that lived in the Seine. The piranhas reproduced far too quickly, so there were nearly three hundred of them down there, and that was why it took so long for them to find and kill all of them.
