Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 729
Chapter 729: A Pain To Clean Up
Loud cheers rang out across the beach as the civilians all clapped in amazement at the show of power that Megumi had just displayed! It was like watching someone perform a magic trick! They had no idea what just happened, but that didn’t make it any less impressive! One moment ht monster was there and alive, and in the next, it was dead! Of course, they would be impressed!
Megumi ignored the people clapping and cheering as she turned down to look at the stingray floating lifelessly in the water. Megumi could have finished the fight in one blow if she wanted to, but she had used the first slash to test the monster and see just how thick the skin of the stingray was. Megumi knew that if she used her full power on the stingray, it would be obliterated. But her partner told her not to destroy it, so she decided that she only needed to use a small part of her power to split the monster into four parts so they could still sell it later on.
Megumi turned away from the monster with dead, impassive eyes before she felt a small surge of energy pass through her body as her strength grew once again.
Megumi almost felt like sighing. Almost. Even if she wanted to sigh, Megumi knew that it would be impossible for her to do it.
[You’re done, right? The helicopter is on its way back to pick you up. The director back at the superhuman alliance wanted to meet you, so you should probably get yourself cleaned up before then.]
The voice in Megumi’s ear spoke up again, and Megumi looked down at herself to see that she was already stained with black blood from the Elder Eldritch. Her green sweatshirt and cargo pants were nearly soaked with blood and she was going to have to get rid of them and get a new pair. Megumi really liked these clothes, so it was a good thing that she had a lot of spares to wear back at home. Megumi looked up as she noticed that there were a lot of people coming her way, and she rested her left hand on the hilt of her sword as they reached her.
“Megumi-san! Megumi-san! That was amazing! I can’t believe you killed it in one move! That was amazing!”
“That slash you did was perfect! You only moved once and it split into four parts!”
“Megumi-san! I’m from the largest guild in Hokkaido! Do you think you’ll be willing to join my guild?”
“Megumi-san! Over here! I spoke to you the other day in Tokyo! Do you remember me!? I’m from the Tokyo Metropolitan News Channel!”
Megumi just looked over all the faces of the people who were rushing up to try and greet her. Her face was still as emotionless as ever, and after some time, the people who were trying to talk to her slowly grew less and less enthusiastic as they didn’t see any sort of reaction from her. It was almost like talking to stone!
Megumi hadn’t always been like this. There was once a time about four years ago when Megumi was very outgoing for reporters and other guilds. Whenever they asked her questions, she would always smile and answer, and if anyone asked her to join their guild, she would turn them down politely or tell them that she wasn’t interested in joining any guilds! That was one of the things that made her extremely popular amongst the citizens of Japan, and there was hardly anyone who didn’t like her in the country! But all that started to change over time! Megumi slowly started to lose her smile, and even her responses to questions became colder! It was like watching a human turn into a robot in real-time, and if anyone saw the previous Megumi, then they would never be able to match her to the current stone-cold killer standing here right now!
After some time in her career, Megumi just stopped talking altogether unless it was absolutely necessary, and the only time anyone saw her talk was in the middle of a fight when she was giving out orders or telling people how to fight around her so they didn’t disturb her massacre! People learned after some time not to try and talk to Megumi since she was just not going to answer you at all, but there were always going to be those who didn’t care to learn their lesson and kept trying no matter how hard it seemed to break through to her! If anyone could succeed and get Megumi to join their guild, then they were going to become the largest guild in the entire country overnight! It was too good an opportunity to pass up!
None of them were able to get too close to her because of how much pressure she was still releasing even though the fight was over. Megumi just stood there impassively as she tuned out the sound of the reporters and it didn’t take long before three helicopters arrived on the scene, with many superhuman alliance agents coming down from the helicopters and moving towards the corpse of the monster as well as Megumi!
“Okay! Okay, that’s enough! Everyone clear out! Please listen to the agents as they try to help you! The doctors will be here soon for the injured, and the deceased will also be taken care of!”
“Please clear out, everyone! Clear out!”
The superhuman alliance agents started to clear out the spectators who were just standing around and gaping at Megumi and the large stingray that she just killed!
“Oi! Megumi!”
Megumi turned away from the people who had been trying to speak to her as she heard one of the agents calling her name from behind her, and she finally looked at the middle-aged man walking up to her! The man was wearing the Japanese uniform for the superhuman alliance, and in his mouth, he had a cigarette that was not yet lit.
It was actually against the Alliance’s policy for anyone to smoke on the job since they were supposed to be setting a good example for the younger generation, but the man had argued that they didn’t know when they were going to die in this line of business, and if they were going to be going out there to fight against beasts and monsters that could kill them in a second, then smoking was the last thing that the alliance had to worry about.
That had been enough of an argument for them to allow him to keep smoking, but they gave him the ultimatum that he could only do it while he was on anima subjugation missions and never when he was in regular public gatherings involving the Superhuman Alliance. After some thought, the man decided that it was better than getting nothing at all.

The man turned on a lighter and used it to light his cigarette. He took in a deep drag and then sighed while looking around at all the blood, corpses, and monster parts lying around the edge of the beach. This was going to be a fucking pain in the ass to clean up.
