Chapter 736: Worldwide Frenzy
Megumi spent her time hunting any anima around the country that was too dangerous for any other superhuman to handle, and she was happy with that life because it gave her meaning. Did she really need to add any form of drama to it by getting involved in Genshi’s personal vendetta?

No, she didn’t need to.

But there was something else that made her stop and rethink. Megumi looked down again at Mark’s picture on the table. Mark’s face was perfectly blank in the picture with no emotion shown, but even from his stare alone, Megumi could feel the intense amount of power he must possess. Someone like this was going to be coming to Japan. Someone that she could say was the closest thing she would ever get to an equal.

Megumi knew about Mark’s power, or at least she knew what Mark had told the world his power was.

Mark could get stronger the longer he fought and the more enemies he killed. The similarities between their powers intrigued Megumi the first time she heard about it, and the fact that Mark was able to grow from only an A rank into the strongest man in the world in less than two years made Megumi certain that he was not lying about his abilities.

There was a strange bubbling rising from somewhere inside of Megumi. Something that she couldn’t describe due to how faint it was. Was this envy? No, it couldn’t be that. Megumi knew she could be envious of the fact that Mark was able to get this strong while still keeping his emotions, but she didn’t feel that at all. Then, was this feeling competitiveness?

This made Megumi pause, and her eyes slightly widened.

That was it. That was the emotion she was feeling. Megumi felt challenged. Was this Mark Vantias really as strong as everyone made him out to be? Was he really capable of getting stronger the longer he fought? Megumi wanted to know this for herself. She wanted to meet this man and exchange blows with him. Megumi wanted to cut him with her blade to see if he would bleed.

This was the first time in years that Megumi would feel any form of emotion in her heart, and Megumi held onto this emotion with all her might and guarded it like something precious.

The next time Megumi looked up, Genshi grinned in excitement before she could even speak. Genshi already knew Megumi’s answer from the fire burning in her eyes.

“I’ll fight.”

Japan was not the only place where the news of Mark’s participation had started to cause ripples. Slowly, all the countries of the world began to come to the realization of what was going to be taking place in only a few weeks.

Henry had made sure to announce Mark’s participation earlier than intended because he knew exactly what sort of reaction it would cause in the world, and the directors of all the other branches of the superhuman alliance had the exact reaction that Henry had been looking for.

It began with the removal of the agents they intended to put in as the participants. The directors all over the world knew exactly what Mark was capable of since many of them had had meetings with him as the leader of the Vanguard Guild. They knew that their agents would not stand a chance against him if they put them in the tournament. Therefore, they all began to actively seek out stronger superhumans to participate in the tournament.

In any other scenario, it would be very difficult for superhumans to agree to participate in the tournament due to how unpopular it was and the lack of proper incentive, but that all changed when the official announcement for the tournament was made all over the world, and people saw that Mark Vantias was going to be participating as well. The news blew up faster than a wildfire in the wilderness! Superhumans who considered themselves to be the best and superhumans who thought that they were capable of making a name for themselves if they went up against and won against Mark Vantias started applying in droves!

Normally, the tournament would never receive more than ten applications from mid- to low-level superhumans before beginning, but this time, there were more than two hundred applications from superhumans in all the countries of the world who were trying to make a name for themselves!

The directors were also actively participating in the mad rush as they struggled to recruit their best for the tournament. The directors all knew exactly what it was that Henry was doing! By bringing Mark Vantias into the race, Henry had basically secured a direct route for himself to win the tournament! And by winning the tournament and bringing in all this revenue, Henry would be one of the favorites to become the next General Overseer of the Superhuman Alliance once the current Overseer retires! It was a maddening situation to the other directors who also wanted the position! They all knew that they would never be able to bring up someone like Mark Vantias or cause the same waves that Mark was causing, so instead, they tried to bring the very best they had to at least match the efforts that Henry was putting into the tournament so they wouldn’t be left behind!

“Hey, did you see the news? They said that GHOST is going to be in the upcoming superhuman tournament!”

“Superhuman tournament? Hold on, you mean that bullshit fighting tournament they were doing that year? Damn, that was some horse shit. Didn’t even feel like a real fight! I couldn’t even recognize a single major superhuman in there! There’s no way GHOST enters something like that! Did you see the scripted fights they were having? It’s better to just go watch YouTube or something than waste time on that nonsense!”

“Nah, I’m serious! They already made the announcement and everything, and there’s no way they would make an announcement like this without GHOST agreeing to it!”

“Holy shit, it’s true! What the hell is he doing in that tournament?! He’ll wreck everyone in there easily!”

“I don’t think so dude, these guys are really going all out with things this time. They’ve been announcing some of the biggest superhumans around since GHOST said he would participate! That dude from China that can control Magma, was his name Flame Dragon? I think he’s also going to enter. And the military from Germany even started to add in some of their best superhumans. Dude, this tournament is going to be crazy!”

“Wait, Flame Dragon is going to be in it? What about Storm Queen, is she in there!? I’ve wanted to see a real fight from her in ages! Did you know Flame Dragon killed an Elder Eldritch just the other day?! It’s his third one already! He’s going to give GHOST a real run for his money!”

“Nah, he won’t! GHOST kills Elder Eldritch’s for breakfast, dude! And that isn’t even the craziest part of all this. The really insane part is what Japan just announced! They said the Battle Angel was going to be a part of it too!”

“Hold on, that Battle Angel? Megumi?”

“Yeah, that Battle Angel.”

“Bro, come on, we’re going to get tickets for Japan right now! We’ve got to see this live!”

Things like these were prevalent across the entire world as people started to gain more and more interest in the tournament as they realized just how big of an event it was turning out to be this year.
