Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 741
Chapter 741: Intensity
Mark really didn’t care about whether the Japanese government liked them or not. So long as Mark could get into the country, then he was good. And besides, Mark still didn’t know if he was even going to take the games seriously, so there was no need for him to care about what the organizers thought.
Henry nodded after Mark shrugged since that was as good as an agreement for him, and he continued talking while directing them toward the plane.
“I’ll be arriving in Japan a little later since the Directors of the Superhuman Alliance branches were told to come later than the contestants. We weren’t given a reason, but it’s just the way they want things to go, so you can rely on the Superhuman Alliance in Japan to take care of all your needs before I arrive. And on that note, please have a pleasant flight.”
The team began to head towards the plane after Henry finally finished his speech. Along with Pat, Jeanne and Turner, there were a few other non-combatants who were allowed to come for the contest. They were mostly medics and members of the Superhuman Alliance staff, so Mark didn’t pay them any attention.
The flight to Japan took them the better part of fourteen hours, and each hour of it was just irritatingly boring for Mark. Mark was seated near the window with Arit beside him and Luna on Arit’s other side, and if not for Arit talking to him for most of the ride, Mark would have just fallen asleep during it. The plane they were using was only a commercial line, so it didn’t have the same flight speed as a military jet or a higher-end jet like the one Mark owned.
“We were trying to take out the spleen, but he kept on going into cardiac arrest during the operation since his body was reacting to the drug we used to keep him unconscious, so we had to just wake him up and operate on him without the drug. He didn’t feel anything while we were working, but they tied him down to make sure he didn’t move…”
Mark chuckled as Arit explained one of the operations that she carried out at the hospital to him. Mark always found it fascinating to hear the things that Arit was already doing, even though she was only a trainee under Jeanne. It was like Arit was already a full-time doctor.
And with how much Arit was reading and memorizing every day just to pass all the exams that she was still writing even as an apprentice, Mark knew that Arit had to really love what she did.
Up in the upper rows of the plane, Turner and Tina were busy talking to each other, and Mark noticed that some of the non-combatants that were brought along from the Superhuman Alliance kept staring at him in admiration. He was thankful that they didn’t come to him for an autograph.
By the time they got to the Japanese islands, Mark was irritated by all the attention he was getting, and he could only sigh as he and the other members of his team began to come down from the plane. Arit heard Mark sigh, and she couldn’t help the small laugh that came out from her. Arit took Mark’s arm in hers, and Mark looked down to see her giving him a relaxing smile. Mark really didn’t need to allow things like these to bother him anymore. He should be used to it already!
Mark just shrugged when Arit said this to him, and he finally cracked a smile when Arit bumped his side with her shoulder. Mark just couldn’t stay serious when Arit was being this cute.
Surprisingly, as Mark came down from the plane, he noticed that they weren’t the only ones arriving at that time. The American plane had arrived at the same time as both the German, Russian, and Chinese planes. Hao, the Chinese Dragon Summoner who worked for Mark, was coming down from his plane with the rest of his own team, and he gave Mark a respectful bow from a distance once he saw him. He waited for Mark to nod back before he started leading his team down from the ramp.
Hao already knew Mark’s plans for the competition, and he knew that the main focus for this tournament was not to win, but rather to find out what was going on on the coast of Japan. Right now, Hao’s orders from Mark were for him to not do anything that would arouse suspicion from the Japanese government while covering up for Mark and the rest of his team whenever one or more of them disappears for a while.
Mark had given the same orders to all the members of his guild who were going to be representing their own countries in the upcoming tournament. The Nigerian and French teams were also going to be doing the same since they had members from Mark’s guild leading them as well, and since Mark’s orders didn’t affect their desires to win the tournament for their countries, none of them had any argument about helping Mark do what he wanted.
However, Mark noticed that even though the members of his guild all had the same resolute looks on their faces as they prepared for the guild mission, there was also an undertone of intensity that exposed their true intentions to Mark. They were all feeling the obvious competitiveness that only a competition of this magnitude could produce. And those from Mark’s guild weren’t the only ones feeling like this.
As Mark’s eyes swept over the large crowd of Superhumans present in the airport, Mark could make out the intense stares from each and every one of them as they glanced towards him while speaking in hushed whispers. Every Superhuman present here was the best of the best from their respective country. They had all been chosen by their government to represent their country as a direct response to Mark entering this competition, and Mark knew that they were all going to be aiming for his head once the tournament began.
“Hey, that’s him, right? The God Killer? Heard he can kill an Armageddon in less than ten minutes.”
“Did you hear about what he did in France the other day? Apparently, he can even control anima to run towards him.”
“We’re going to have to take care of him once the tournament starts. It’ll be hell if we allow him to get into his element.”
The crowd of Superhumans all made plans about how they could take care of Mark once the tournament began. They all knew that Mark was stronger than any one of them individually, but together, they were confident that they could stand a better chance of subduing him. Mark’s actions in many of the countries present there had made the Superhumans resentful of him due to the fact that he was taking away the anima corpses and the profit that they could be making from the anima. It was like Mark was so greedy that he wasn’t satisfied with all the anima that he was killing in his own country, he was going out to other countries just to fuck with all the Superhumans there as well.
This vindictiveness bled into their competitive spirit, and the Superhumans got ready to serve Mark back for his actions.
