Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 743
Chapter 743: Just A Joke
Ida always hated the fact that someone like Arit was with the most powerful man in the world. Ida had never had trouble getting any man she wanted before, so the mere fact that Mark turned her down for this high schooler was enough to grate at Ida’s nerves.
When Ida first met Mark, she had only been an ELITE Rank II, but after seeing how far Mark had managed to grow in only a few months of using his power and after realizing that she would become far inferior to Mark if he continued growing at the pace that he was, Ida increased her training even more and now she had managed to become an ELITE Rank III in that time!
Ida only had an S rank in potential, so for her to be able to do something like that was a very impressive feat, and the fact that Ida was able to move from ELITE Rank II to ELITE Rank III in just five months was proof of how hard she was working every day!
But even with the difference in their power, Arit didn’t look like she gave a fuck as she took a step forward immediately to confront Ida! The pressure in the area grew even more intense as Ida’s gravity control began to push against Arit’s raw mana as they fought for dominance! Arit was about to transform and start a fight right there without caring who was watching, but Mark reached out for Arit’s hand and pulled Arit back before she could do anything.
Mark was also pissed at what Ida was doing, but this wasn’t the time to start a fight. There was a chance that Ida was doing all this just to get a rise out of Arit and make her do something that would disqualify them from the contest. Ida was cunning enough that Mark wouldn’t put it past her. Besides, Mark knows how much the Japanese don’t like them, so even one misstep might be enough to make them all go home.
Mark looked down at Arit seriously, and the both of them seemed to have a silent conversation as they just stared at each other for a few seconds. Finally, after a few tense moments, Arit closed her eyes and the purple coloring on her neck cleared out as she finally managed to calm herself. Mark then turned to Ida while talking in a serious voice.
“This is the second time you’re doing this, and I’m going to overlook it once again because of how much you helped me against the Armageddon. But the third time it happens will be the last time. Remember that.”
Mark only said this much before he started to walk without bothering to move Ida out of the way. Mark was also pissed that Ida would dare to insult Arit like that, but Mark knew he couldn’t do anything right now. They were not in America anymore, where they could just do whatever they wanted. Mark had no idea what the rules said about contestants fighting each other in Japan, but there was a high chance that any form of conflict here would likely lead to someone being disqualified from the tournament.
Ida felt Mark shoulder-tackle her out of the way, and she couldn’t even try to block his path as his sheer strength managed to move her without trying!
Ida felt a frown growing on her face as she watched Mark walk away with Arit. Arit turned around to give Ida a glare as she walked away, and in Arit’s heart, she had already marked Ida for death. Arit didn’t know if she was going to face off against Ida at any point in the tournament, but Arit hoped she did just so that she could kill this bitch!
Ida scoffed as she saw Arit glaring at her and she turned to leave with the rest of her team members, but she stopped as she saw Luna standing behind her with a glare of her own. Ida smiled once more as she saw Luna’s irritated expression, but this time, there was an undertone of nervousness present because unlike Arit, whom Ida was certain she could defeat on any day, Luna was someone that Ida knew she didn’t stand a chance against. If they fought ten times, Ida knew that she would struggle to win even once.
“It’s been a while, Luna. Don’t tell me you’re going to allow a little joke like that to get under your skin.”
Luna didn’t say anything in response to Ida’s words, but she kept her glare on her for a while longer before she started to walk away calmly with that same expressionless look on her face. Although Luna said nothing, Ida knew that she would have to be a little careful in the future in case Luna decided to retaliate in any way.
Ida scoffed after Luna left and she grinned confidently again as she saw some of the members of the American team glaring at her while following behind Luna. The non-combatants all looked away since they couldn’t hope to match the amount of pressure that Ida was releasing, but Alec kept a level stare with Ida until he also left. Ida just ignored all of them since she didn’t see them as competition. She called on her fellow team members, who were all members of the army under her direct command, and she followed after the other teams into the airport building.
The teams were all led through the customs area and then into a large hall on the other side of the airport where three people were standing. As the superhuman and non-combatants entered, a woman wearing a long kimono walked around the room and handed a set of translators to the leaders of the countries that were present there. The woman handed Mark twenty translators, and Luna called on one of the non-combatants to hand out the translators after she, Mark, and Arit took theirs.
Two of the people in the room waiting for the superhumans were the president of the country and the leader of the NSA branch in Japan, while the third person there was the one that everyone had their eyes on once they entered her room. The leader of the Superhuman Alliance, Genshi Naruhito, sat confidently on a stool at the center of the room. Genshi wore a full samurai yukata that made him appear very regal and wise. Beside him, a woman wearing the traditional yukata for servants knelt reverently, and she held a long katana close to her chest. The woman’s eyes were closed, but she had dark black hair and a small round face that gave her the look of a traditional Japanese beauty.
Once Mark and his team made their way into the building, Mark immediately felt Genshi’s eyes fall on him in an intense stare and Mark turned his gaze towards the old man and held his stare with just as much intensity. The both of them seemed to be in their very own world as their auras battled for dominance, and after some time, Genshi finally felt Mark’s pressure getting too intense and he was forced to turn away as he closed his eyes with a small frown.
