Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 745
Chapter 745: Unknown Blessing
That boring, dull feeling that Mark had been drowning in for so long was slowly leaving him, and Mark had to clench his right hand into a fist to control the shiver that was passing through him as he stared into Megumi’s eyes.
Mark wanted to fight her.
As for Megumi, she had already completely tuned out everything that Genshi and her brother were saying to her once she saw Mark. Genshi had been telling her about their plans for the superhumans and how they would handle them while they were in the country, but Megumi stopped listening once she saw Mark on that bus. Megumi felt something like lightning course through her body, and she was shocked when she realized that her mouth had moved to form a tiny grin at the sight of the man she wanted to meet for so long.
This was the person praised as the strongest in the world, and Megumi wanted nothing more than to stab him with her sword and see if he would bleed for her.
The two superhumans remained in the intense staredown, and there wasn’t a single person around them who didn’t notice the sudden intensity that was filling the entire street just from their power. Arit turned to look at Mark in surprise as she felt his right hand shaking at irregular intervals, and Genshi turned around quickly when he saw Megumi staring at something behind him.
But before anyone else could know what was going on, the bus moved on. Mark seemed to get his senses back and he quickly activated his [True Sight] and brought up the system prompt to see Megumi’s stats before he lost sight of her.

…
‘So she really is just like me. She can get stronger the more enemies she kills.’
This thought crossed Mark’s mind as he saw the stats that were shown on her status, but the stat that drew Mark’s eyes the most was the skill that Megumi had and the fact that he could not see it! This was the first time something like this would be happening for a long time now! Mark hadn’t had to level up the True Sight skill as much as other skills because Mark was so much stronger than others and the skill was so much higher than what it needed to be that Mark could just see anyone’s stats by looking once. For Mark to not be able to see Megumi’s skill told Mark that he was dealing with someone beyond what he was used to! Megumi was the real deal!
And the fact that Megumi had such a high potential just made her seem even more impressive in Mark’s eyes. Luna was only an ELITE Rank II in potential, but she was able to grow far faster than anyone else in the world that Mark had met. So just imagining what sort of skill Megumi had was enough to make Mark excited all over again. It was like Mark was his younger self once more and he was about to face off against an Elder Eldritch for the first time.
That vibration started to come back to Mark again as he felt adrenaline filling his body, but the staredown ended once the bus turned a corner, and Mark blinked and came back down to reality as the adrenaline that had started rushing through him began to calm as well. Mark released a quiet sigh and a small laugh came out from him at the next moment.
Mark couldn’t believe how close he was to just charging straight through the bus to attack Megumi. That woman was really something else. Mark looked through the tab that had Megumi’s stats again and he focused on the ‘Unlawful Neutral’ that was written as her affiliation. The similarity to his own affiliation wasn’t lost on him, and this just told Mark that Megumi was not the sort of person to follow orders or do as she was told by anyone. If the situation called for it, Megumi was more than prepared to just forget all the rules and go crazy.
“Mark, are you okay?”
Arit spoke up from beside Mark, and Mark turned to her with a smile and told her that he was fine. He just saw something interesting. Arit frowned for a moment, but Mark told her it was really nothing and kissed her on the forehead to make her relax. Once Arit was certain that Mark was not worried about anything, she turned to continue talking to Luna and Mark leaned back in his seat with a small sigh as his mind went over to Megumi’s power again.
Megumi’s mana was completely different from everything that Mark was used to feeling from superhumans for so long. It wasn’t like the calm, easy-flowing power that Luna had or the raw, primal power that Arit and Gutner possessed. It wasn’t even like the ruthless and twisted power that Salazar had.
Instead, the power Mark felt from Megumi was pure and restless. It was a form of power that poured out of her in waves and threatened to subdue everything and anything that it came into contact with.
Mark did not know it then, but the reason why Megumi’s power called out to him so intensely was because he and Megumi were very similar. If not for the fact that Megumi had already lost most of her emotional abilities and her desire for battle, then not only would Mark and Megumi possess a similar blessing, but their personalities would be nearly identical. They both had a mad desire for battle that drove them to seek out powerful opponents relentlessly!
Mark instinctively recognized this part of Megumi and that was what drew them both to each other so fiercely!
Mark’s brow furrowed again as he read through the description of Megumi’s power. Mark didn’t like the fact that he couldn’t see what her true blessing was. Mark was able to tell that it helped her to get stronger with each enemy that she killed, but it seemed like the system was keeping the most important information from him.
As for the part of Megumi’s description that said she was slowly losing her emotions, Mark didn’t let something like that affect him at all. Mark was aware that there were various types of powers in this world and all of them had their advantages and disadvantages. Just like Mark had to constantly find stronger opponents in order to get stronger, maybe the price that Megumi paid for her own power was her slow loss of emotions. Mark had a feeling that when they eventually crossed paths again, he would figure out more about this part of Megumi.
