Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 747
Chapter 747: Falcon
Pat hadn’t been able to get any indication of where all that mana had gone, and that was the issue that he was bringing up now.
[I still haven’t found the mana. I don’t think I’m close enough to the coastline for the scan. If I try to get any deeper into the system, they might notice.]
Mark frowned as Pat’s voice came through the comms, and before Mark could say anything, Grace spoke through the comms as well.
[You know, if I was there, then maybe I would be able to do a better job—]
“Not now, Grace.”
Mark spoke up in irritation once he realized that Grace wasn’t going to be saying anything productive, and Grace seemed to realize that Mark was not playing around and she sobered up as well. The next time Grace spoke up, she had a much better suggestion to give.
[If it’s a proximity issue, then maybe you can send a signal booster close to the region. That way you can use it to hop off the signal near the coastline and get a better view.]
Grace was talking to Pat this time, and Pat hummed as the sound of clicking echoed through the comms. Pat thought that the idea was a good one and he had already thought about it as well, but there was just no way for him to send something like that out. He had a signal booster here, but what was he going to use to send it to the coastline?
[I have a drone with me, but I don’t think the superhuman will just ignore a drone flying that close to them. They’ll definitely bring it down. If only I had a stealth drone. I could’ve just sent that out instead.]
Pat mumbled this through the comms, and it suddenly made Mark raise a brow as a thought came to him. If it was a drone that they needed, then maybe he could help with that. The drone was definitely going to be too obvious and Pat was right about them shooting it out of the sky once anyone noticed it. But the superhuman wouldn’t attack a creature that was meant to be there.
Mark closed his eyes for a moment and cast his senses out to the sky. Various birds were flying over the bus as it passed through the mountainside, and Mark searched for the largest and fastest of the birds through these links. The tattoo on Mark’s forehead glowed with a dull golden light, but thankfully, Mark’s hair was covering it up, so only those who were really close to him would be able to tell that he was glowing.
[Symbol of Gaia] has been activated!
Once Mark found the bird he had been looking for, he easily entered into its mind and began to call it over. A few months ago, something like this would have taken Mark more than an hour, but now that Mark had been training with this ability for so long, he didn’t even need five minutes before the bird was fully under his control.
Mark took in a calming breath as he felt that intense feeling that always overcame him whenever he was seeing through the eyes of the animal he would merge with, and then he called on the bird and made it fly over to the bus that they were traveling in.
“What the fuck! There’s a falcon out there!”
“It’s a Peregrine Falcon! I hear they’re the fastest in the world!”
“What the hell is it doing? It’s going to the window!”
The falcon came over to the side of the bus where Pat was seated, and Pat turned to see Mark giving him a nod to tell him that he was the one who called on the falcon. Pat scoffed and shook his head as he spoke up.
[You’ve got one of the weirdest blessings I’ve ever seen. You’re like the fucking planet-man or something.]
Mark scoffed and just told Pat to open the window and let the falcon perch on it. The falcon would get tired if it had to keep up with the bus for so long. Pat did as he was told and opened the window for the falcon. A lot of the people on the bus turned towards Pat to watch in astonishment as the falcon perched on the edge of the window and released a loud cry towards Pat. The falcon’s eyes were glowing an illuminated gold, and it was only the knowledge that Mark was the one controlling the falcon that prevented Pat from jumping in shock when the falcon suddenly hopped off the window and perched on Pat’s shoulder.
[What the fuck? Damn, this is creepy. Just, tell it to hold still while I put this on. Just one moment… alright, that should do it. Hey, what the fuck, don’t bite my ear, you bastard! Get off!]
Pat suddenly felt the falcon trying to bite at his ear after he was done putting the signal booster on its leg, and he shook his shoulder and made it get the fuck off him before it could bite too hard! Mark just chuckled and told the falcon to get moving as it spread its wings and flew out from the window.
Many of the people in the bus had already taken photos of Pat and the falcon before it could leave, and even though they didn’t know why the hell the bird had come onto the bus, they couldn’t help but be impressed by the majestic creature.
Once the bird was out of the bus, Mark ordered it to begin flying towards the coastal area where the animal mana was last seen. The bird responded that it was very far and it would take a long time to get there, and Mark just told it to get there as quickly as it could as he reduced the connection with the bird and allowed it to just fly using its own intelligence. The [Symbol of Gaia] allowed Mark to both see through the eyes of any animal he connects with as well as implant suggestions in the minds of the animals. Whether or not the animal would agree to the suggestion depended entirely on how in tune Mark was with nature, and the only reason why all the animals that he had called on so far had been listening to him was due to how much he had been training.
But that did not mean that Mark could control them over any distance at all. The [Symbol of Gaia] had a set range of about a hundred miles. In that range, Mark could connect, talk to, and see through the eyes of any creature that willingly allowed him to connect with it. But as the creature got further away, the connection became harder to maintain and far weaker.
From what Mark got through his link with the bird, the shoreline that it needed to get to was about five hundred miles away from where Mark was. So, what Mark did was just direct the bird to fly over there and stay there for the next few days so that Pat would still be able to use the signal booster to get a good view of the area. Mark wouldn’t be able to see through the eyes of the bird, and he wouldn’t be able to give it any more instructions once it got that far away.
