Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 754
Chapter 754: Lying Russian
[Styxwatcher’s Discernment has detected a lie!]
[The leader of the Russians is aware of the reason behind his teammate’s attack on Leah, and he is keeping it secret in order to prevent the rest of his team from being disqualified.]
Mark frowned at this notification once he read through it again. Mark turned to look at the leader of the Russians, and the man noticed Mark’s gaze. The leader gave Mark a nod of greeting as he and the rest of his team were led away.
What the hell were the Russians trying to play at here?
Mark didn’t understand why the Russians would arrive in camp and then immediately attack the first superhuman they saw there. That was one of the reasons why Mark didn’t say anything about the man lying, even though Mark knew he wasn’t telling the truth. Mark didn’t understand what was going on, and he didn’t want to reveal the fact that he knew something was going on this early, in case the Russians realized it as well and changed their plans!
With the way things had been going recently, MAkr felt like there would be some sort of connection between what he was trying to stop in Japan and what the Russians were trying to start.
And besides, even though Mark pointed out that the man was lying, there was no way Mark would be able to prove it beyond mere words. No one knew about the [Styxwatcher’s Discernment] other than the gods, so Mark was going to have to somehow convince everyone here that the man who was trying to defuse the situation was lying through his teeth and was actually responsible for what had happened in the first place.
Mark wasn’t the sort of person who would desperately try to convince people to trust him. It was a foolish way to act, and Mark knew that even though they trusted him, he would be letting go of a precious lead by making them remove the Russians from the competition.
Just before they could leave, Mark turned on his [True Sight] and glanced at the stats and description of all the members of the Russian team.
…
Name: Dimitri Yusef
Race: Human
Title: PAWN
Rank: ELITE Rank II
Potential: S
Description: One of the many followers of ???. Dimitri possesses a minor blessing from Thanatos, the god of the underworld, that allows him to summon undead creatures to aid him in battle. He is a cruel and vindictive person who has spilled the blood of hundreds during the coup to take over the Russian government by the former president. It is advised never to trust him.
Affiliation: Chaotic Evil.
…
This was the tab that showed the information about the leader of the Russians, and Mark’s teeth clenched as he saw what the man’s affiliation was. This was the same affiliation that Salazar had, and it was very difficult for Mark to stop himself from going right over there and just killing Dimitri where he stood. But Mark stopped himself as he read through the tabs of the others there. The rest of the Russians all had varying ranks and potentials, and even though their descriptions were a little different every time, they were still saying the same thing about them being followers of some unknown person and participating in the coup that overthrew the government.
But the two things that remained constant in all of their tabs were their title and their affiliation. They were all PAWNS, and they all had an affiliation towards Chaotic Evil.
It was at that moment that Mark realized there was something much larger going on here, and the entire Russian team was a part of it. Mark needed to talk to the Americans. Their mission was important, but right now, they had to switch focus towards dealing with whatever the Russians were planning to do here. If the Russians succeeded, then there was every likelihood that a lot of people would die.
Arit and Luna were standing close to Mark now that everything was finally calming down, and Arit came up and handed Mark a t-shirt that she picked out from their room before she left. Mark thanked her gratefully and put on the shirt, and once he was done, Mark whispered in a quiet voice so that only he and both of them would be able to hear what he was saying.
“The Russians are lying about the attack. The Russian leader knows what happened and he’s hiding it to stay in the tournament.”
Arit turned to Mark in shock as she heard this. There wasn’t even an inkling of doubt in Arit’s heart the moment Mark spoke, and she believed him immediately! If Mark says that the Russians were lying, then the Russians were lying!
Arit turned to look at the leader of the Russians with a more critical gaze. Even Arit had been fooled by the man’s pitiful act, and she thought that the man was just a victim of a bad teammate!
Luna, meanwhile, was more analytical, and she wondered how in the world Mark knew that the Russian man was lying. Luna asked Mark if he knew why the Russians would lie about what happened here, and Mark shrugged and said that he did not know. The only thing that Mark was sure of was that the Russians were up to something, and they had to make sure they stopped it before it got too far.
Mark would’ve just apprehended the Russians now, but Mark didn’t know if they had already put their plan into motion or not. What if Mark stops them here, and then somewhere else, someone pulls the trigger on whatever they had planned because they see that the plan might fail? It would be foolish to do something like that.
Ring~ Ring~ Ring~ Ring~ Ring~
Mark looked up when he heard multiple comms ringing at the same time. Mark glanced around and saw that nearly every member of the Japanese Superhuman Alliance was receiving a call on their comms, and Mark frowned as even Genshi and Megumi got calls on their comms! What the hell was going on?
Genshi put his hand up to his ear, and Mark cursed silently as the man started to speak quickly in Japanese to answer whoever was on the other side. Mark didn’t have time to grab his translator out of his room before he left since he was in such a hurry, so he wouldn’t be able to translate what Genshi was saying, Mark turned to Luna at his side and asked her if she could understand anything that the man was saying. Luna knew some Japanese from all her time studying the culture, and Luna nodded as she listened to Genshi talk. Even though Genshi was very far away, she could still get some bits and pieces from his conversation, and she spoke up with a small frown.

“Anima attack, at the docks. No, at the shore. It’s an Elder-Eldritch, and it’s as large as a building? There’s an anima attack, but they don’t have any high-ranking superhumans there, so they can’t do anything about it. Turns out Genshi brought most of the ranking superhumans in the area with him when he was coming here, so only S ranks and below are there. They’re asking for help.”
Mark nodded slowly as he watched Genshi instruct everyone to move out to the anima attack immediately! They had to get there before the monster could make its way into the city!
