Chapter 755: Attack At The Docks
Genshi turned around when he noticed Mark looking at him, and for a moment, Mark could see in Genshi’s eyes that Genshi wanted to say something. Mark would not hold it against the man if he asked for help, and Mark would happily help out since Mark didn’t have anything else to do right now, but Genshi didn’t say anything. Instead, he just frowned and told Megumi in Japanese to run ahead of the helicopter. She was faster than the helicopter could fly, and there were no large water bodies between her and the attack zone, so she would be able to get there before them! Megumi nodded before she crouched and blasted off the ground!
BOOM!
The entire area shook from her departure, and then Genshi and the others boarded the planes while carrying the Russian man who attacked Leah with them and left. Mark shrugged nonchalantly as he simply turned around while scratching the back of his head tiredly. Mark wasn’t an idiotic hero who would go and help people out no matter how much they told him that they didn’t want his help. If Genshi thinks that they can handle things without him, then why would he try to force his help on them? Mark would rather go get some more sleep.
But even as Mark left, he turned and glanced at the group of Russians who were still standing off to the side of the clearing. They were all standing together and talking about something in hushed whispers, and when the leader, Dimitri, saw Mark looking at them, he smiled again and nodded to Mark in respect. Mark gave the man a nod back in order not to arouse suspicion, and once the man turned back to keep talking to his teammates, Mark frowned.
Ring~ Ring~
Mark turned away from the Russians when he heard his own comms beeping as well, and Mark turned when he saw that Luna was also receiving a call from someone. Mark picked up his comms, and he heard Pat’s voice come out in a rush.
[Mark, you need to get over here right now! There’s something you need to see!]
Mark was shocked to hear an undertone of anxiousness in Pat’s voice, and Mark immediately turned to tell Luna and Arit that they had to go to Pat’s room. But before Mark could say anything, he saw Luna frowning while talking quickly to someone over her comms!
“What did you see? Did you get a video of it? Alright, send it to me and stay hidden until things quiet down. Once you can, get out of there immediately!”
Luna seemed to be really worried about the person on the other end of the call, and once she was finished, Mark asked her to tell him what happened while they moved toward Pat’s room. Luna told Mark that it was the woman that she sent to keep an eye on what was going on at the shoreline! The woman said that she was there when the Eldritch-class monster appeared, and she was currently trapped somewhere close to the docks. She couldn’t leave without running through the Eldritch.
The woman managed to get a video of what was going on, and she was hiding using her stealth blessing, but she didn’t know how long it would take for the Eldritch to be defeated!
Mark nodded as his mind went through various possibilities. The first thing that Mark was grateful for was the fact that the woman wasn’t in immediate danger. Since she found a place to hide for now, Mark didn’t have to worry about her getting killed over there. Mark needed to go and see what Pat was calling him for first. After they took a look at it and saw what was really going on, then Mark would decide whether or not they needed to go and extract the spy from the shoreline.
…
Mark, Arit, and Luna made their way to Pat’s room quickly. Mark slid the door open and saw Pat sitting on the other side of the room surrounded by three monitors and a laptop. Pat was looking through footage of some sort of fight happening on one of the monitors, the second monitor had the MDS opened on it, and it was showing various red and blue lights blinking randomly. The third screen showed a long script of some random programming language that Mark didn’t recognize at first glance.
“Yeah, I need you to finish up this part of the code. The signal is stronger now, but it needs to be augmented to the satellite and then bounced back before I can see—”
Pat had been talking to Grace through his comms before Mark and the others came in, but once Pat saw them, Pat told Grace to do what he told her to, and he quickly clicked off the phone and told Mark to come around!
Mark walked forward calmly and asked Pat what was wrong! Pat started to type away at the screen, and the screen that was showing the fight panned out to show more of what was going on. Mark turned to look at it, and his eyes narrowed into a glare as he saw the large monster on the screen!
It was like a cross between a scorpion and a sea-horse! It had strange, scaly skin that folded in on itself and sometimes glistened and glowed under the light from the moon. It also had two large pincers protruding from its arms that looked sharp enough to tear through a car in one snip and a large tail behind it with a stinger that it was currently using to threaten many people who were running away from it!
The video was showing a large dock close to the edge of the ocean. There were many boats close by that had been torn apart by the large monster, but from the speed of the people who were running away from the monster, Mark knew that there were no regular humans there. The people were all running far too quickly for them to be regular humans. Mark turned his eyes towards the monster again, and Mark wondered if this was the same monster that Genshi and Megumi had been called for earlier.
“Is this the video from the attack happening near the shoreline?”
Luna was the one who spoke what was on their minds, and Pat nodded before talking.
“Yeah, that spy you told to go over there put the camera near one of the watchtowers there before she went into hiding, so I was able to tap into the camera signal and get a clear view of what was happening I hope the monster doesn’t go near the watchtower because it’s the only pair of eyes we’ve got over there. But there’s something else. I need you to watch what’s happening over here.”
On the video screen, the large monster roared in agitation, and Mark watched as it slammed its fist into one of the containers near the docks! The fist easily went through the container, and the monster grabbed both ends of it and used it as a battering ram to destroy a large crane that had been standing to one side of the dock!
BOOM!
A large explosion went off once the crane was destroyed, and the monster roared again as it continued destroying the area!
Mark frowned.
