Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 757
Chapter 757: Secret
They couldn’t use the MDS as proof anymore since the anima had already hidden themselves in the larger group of anima. In order to pick out the two imposter anima from the large group, they would have to somehow make them unleash their actual mana capacity and that would only happen if they started a full-blown fight.
And if Mark tried to strong-arm the Russians, then the Japanese government might even think that Mark just used his power to force the Russians into talking! If that happens, then Mark was definitely going to be thrown out of the tournament and the two anima that had snuck into the anima horde would be able to move freely without Mark there to stop them.
Mark released another quiet sigh as thoughts ran through his mind rapidly. Mark was trying to find a way to handle all of this as sensibly as possible. Mark needed to find out what was happening without alerting the mastermind behind this or the government to his movement. When Mark gets enough proof to convince the government, he could use that to his advantage and get them to open up the borders to the Vanguard guild as payment for his help.
But first, Mark needed to know why those anima were trying this hard to get into the tournament.
Mark turned towards the large screen showing the fight happening between the large anima and the superhumans again. Luna and Arit were talking to Pat and trying to come up with something, but Mark was just standing at the side watching silently while trying to put his thoughts in order. On the screen, Megumi had arrived with the rest of the superhuman Alliance agents and they were now engaging the monster. Megumi was the first one there, and once she got there, she dashed towards the monster without giving it a chance to defend itself and sent a slash straight at its unprotected neck, but the monster seemed to finally realize that it was in danger and it retaliated with a block that was far faster than what it had been using all this time! The anima sent a pincer out towards Megumi and the blow struck the concrete where she had been standing and destroyed the entire area as great tremors traveled across the ground!
The monster was no longer holding back, and Mark watched Megumi’s face and saw when she realized that the monster had been holding back. Megumi was crouching on top of a container at the side and her eyes narrowed into a glare as she put her sword in her teeth to hold it before reaching behind her for some powder! She dusted her hand twice with the powder to get rid of any moisture that had accumulated on her hand and then she grabbed her sword and tightened her hand on it hard enough to crack steel!
Then, at the next moment, Megumi vanished!
BOOM!
Even through the screen, Mark could hear the massive sonic boom that echoed through the area as Megumi moved fast enough to tear the sound barrier to shreds! Megumi headed straight for the monster with her sword drawn back! It almost looked like lightning with how quickly she was moving! And then at the next moment, a bright light shone across the region before a loud ‘SLASH!’ echoed across the area!
BOOM!
The entire dock shook from the intensity of Megumi’s slash and as the shockwave traveled through the area, it slammed into the camera that had been watching the fight with intense force, and the camera finally gave out, cracking into hundreds of pieces before shutting down! Mark felt a small smile spreading on his lips as he saw this. Mark wasn’t able to see the final outcome of that slash before the camera went off, but Mark was sure that it must’ve at least taken an arm away from the anima!
“Holy shit, what the hell was that? I couldn’t even see the slash!”
Pat spoke up with a hint of awe present in his voice. Pat wasn’t able to even see Megumi moving with how fast she was going since he was just a regular human, so for him, it looked far more impressive! Pat had seen Mark moving that fast before, but this was the first time Pat had seen anyone other than Mark who could do something like this!
Mark just released a calming breath as he got himself back to the present and turned to Pat to ask a question.
“Where do you think they are going to hold the tournament? Knowing the Japanese, they don’t want us to have the tournament anywhere near the civilians, so I’m guessing they want us to have it on an isolated island somewhere?”
Mark knew that the Japanese government didn’t like foreign superhumans and they were very paranoid about the damage that the superhumans could cause to life and properties if they were put anywhere near a residential area with civilians, so there was no way the government would allow a tournament like the one they were about to have to be held where there were civilians. It was more likely that the government would find some island or maybe a large forest for them to have the tournament in.
Pat nodded to Mark’s statement and told Mark that he was right. Pat told Grace to do a little research and Grace found out that the government had been steadily moving supplies over to a small island called Oshima just off the coast of Japan. The island was covered with a large forest and it also had an arid region with no life present on it at all. If there was going to be a tournament, then it was likely that they would hold it there.
Mark hummed and everyone waited quietly as he seemed to think about something deeply. Finally, after a few moments, Mark spoke up.
“Let’s keep this information to ourselves.”
Everyone in the room was shocked to hear this and Luna asked Mark what the hell he was thinking. Was he really not going to tell anyone about it? This could be some sort of terrorist organization that was planning to cause damage to the entire country. In fact, it was more than likely that the Syndicate themselves were behind this!
Mark nodded in understanding and told Luna that he knew, that was exactly why he wanted to keep it to himself.
“The Syndicate has been working behind the scenes for a long time now and we don’t really know how far their roots reach, so if we come out with this information prematurely, there’s a chance that what happened in America might repeat itself again. We might end up having to fight the anima inside the city and cause a lot of damage to property and lives. Instead, I think it’ll be better for them to move all those anima away to the island first before we say anything. The anima didn’t attack anyone when they were sneaking around, it’s obvious that they are only doing this because they want to take care of something in the tournament. So let’s allow them to get to the tournament without issue, and then when we are there, we’ll deal with them on the island where there’ll be no civilians to get in the way.”
Arit blinked in surprise and finally hummed in understanding as Mark’s statement started to make sense to her. Mark was right about the anima not causing any issues. If the anima wanted to kill randomly, then they wouldn’t have snuck into the cargo hold. Instead, they moved unseen and they didn’t even harm a single person. Dealing with them in the tournament might be the best way to reduce casualties as much as possible.
