Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 769
Chapter 769: Filthy
Alpha One was the first to speak up in irritation.
“We’re here to fight anima and get their crystals. You’re trying to tell us that you changed the plan behind our backs and now we’re supposed to be hunting other superhumans like they’re animals?”
Alec answered with all seriousness.
“Yes, you are.”
“Well, why didn’t you just say so!? Alphas, move out!”
Alpha One immediately smiled wide as he hoisted his large broad sword to his shoulder and started to walk in the direction he remembered one of the Russians going before. He didn’t even care about why they were doing what they were doing, for him hunting other superhumans was going to be so much more fun than hunting the fucking anima!
GROWL!
A low growl came from somewhere in front of Alpha One as multiple anima that had been released on the island started to stalk toward where they could sense the superhumans, and Alpha One’s laughter just got louder as he started to disappear in the white fog that had been created by Luna’s blessing!
“Come get a taste of my blade, you fucking animals!”
That was the last thing anyone heard from Alpha One before the sound of battle started up again. Alec shook his head as he turned to the rest of the Alphas. He should have known that it wouldn’t be hard to convince a battle junkie to go into battle. Alpha Three and Alpha Four looked like they weren’t convinced by what Alec had said, but they decided that they would follow their leader’s orders and went off in different directions to try and catch more Russians. The last person there was Alpha Six, and she asked Alec if he could trust the information from Luna.
“We could just be helping them and their stupid guild in their plans. All of this is too sudden, and we don’t even know if the Russians did anything wrong.”
Alpha Six had a long sniper rifle strapped to her back and she spoke with an irritated frown on her face. The mere thought of helping Luna and Arit gave her a bad taste in her mouth that wouldn’t go away no matter what. But Alec just told her that it was a direct order and she closed her eyes and cursed before leaving as well. She was going to do the bare minimum, but Alec knew that she respected him a lot, so she wouldn’t disobey his direct orders.
Once they were gone, Alec turned around as he heard the sound of ice breaking, and Luna told him to take care of the two Russians on one side as she turned and started walking toward the other two Russians there. Alec felt like asking Luna more questions about what was going on, but he decided that it wasn’t as important as first finishing the mission, so he went to do as he was told.
…
At a secluded cave under one of the mountains on the island, hundreds of anima walked around the entrance to the cave while keeping their senses alert and making sure that any superhuman who even came close to that area was immediately chased away or killed so that they wouldn’t be able to make it into the cave.
The bushes surrounding the entrance of the cave rustled a bit as something began to make its way over, and the anima all turned and growled in preparation to attack whatever was there, but once they saw who it was, they all stopped and turned around while ignoring him again.
The man that appeared was one of the Russians who had managed to escape from the superhumans chasing him. Alpha One had been hot on his tail earlier, but Alpha One ended up being distracted by an Eldritch class anima that appeared, so the Russian was able to make it all the way over here. The Russian was only an S rank, so he was glad that the Eldritch appeared when it did. If not, he would have never made it past Alpha One like that.
The man made his way into the cave and he looked around at the dark and dreary interior of the cave. There were webs all over the cave walls, and when the man took a step to the side, he flinched as he felt something crack under his feet. He looked down and saw that he had stepped on a human femur, and he had to shake off the feeling of dread that rose in him before he continued inside the cave!
Criter~! Critter~!
Something began to move in the darkness, and the man stopped moving immediately as he felt something right above him. He didn’t dare to even look up, and when he felt a metal appendage touch his shoulder, he could feel a new level of fear unlocking in his body! Was he going to be eaten?
“You’re late.”
A creature’s voice echoed from somewhere above him and the man swallowed before speaking.
“S-Sorry, Rook. I had to get away from the Americans. They somehow found out about our plans and they were chasing me down.”
The Rook chuckled before the chittering echoed through the cave again. In the next second, the man saw a large spider leg with a metal tip slam into the ground in front of him before a large two-headed spider dropped to the ground and turned to face him fully. The spider’s body was so ink-black that it practically melted into the darkness of the cave, leaving only twelve crimson eyes staring at the man sadistically.
This spider was the same one that had been in the Amazonian forest until only a while ago. After hearing from the Bishop that the plan was ready to begin, it made its way over to this island from Brazil and waited for the Bishop and the other anima to arrive so that they could begin their plan.
The Rook suddenly flashed forward so quickly that the Russian couldn’t even flinch before he was staring at the twelve red glaring eyes! The man had to bite his tongue to prevent himself from screaming and did his best not to fall back on his butt! The Rook looked down at him for a few seconds before it pulled back slowly.
“Filthy human.”
The Rook was only at the entrance of the cave to receive the human because the Bishop asked him to do it, and once he was sure that he had terrified the human enough, he turned around and began to crawl deeper into the cave. The Russian didn’t need to be told to follow and he immediately rushed to keep up with the quick pace that the Rook was setting for him!
They made their way through the dark corridor, and it was only thanks to the enhanced vision that all superhumans had that the Russian was able to make his way through without tripping over the traps or getting stuck in the webs all around the cave. They finally made their way into a much larger cavern in the cave. The area was lit up by glowing rocks that had embedded themselves in the wall. The glow was dim, but it was more than enough for the Russian to see what was in the room, and when he did, his eyes widened in shock.
