Chapter 771: Choosing Sides
The Bishop nodded at the changed man.

“Much better.”

“It’s real! The gods have truly given us a chance!”

“I want to go next! I want to become one of the chosen as well!”

“Oh, dear gods! Bless us with your grace! Give us power!”

“Dear gods, grant us power!”

The humans who had been kneeling behind the Russian all started to raise their voices while putting their heads to the ground in worship to the now-changed man! They had a look of awe and reverence in their eyes as they worshiped the anima as gods, and the Bishop just sighed and fell back to lie down again while ignoring them!

Humans were nothing but ingredients that they needed to make their army stronger. If not for the fact that they needed these humans, the bishop would have killed them all a long time ago.

The large pig-human hybrid that had been taking them one by one suddenly slammed his foot into the ground and grunted at them while releasing some of his mana, and the humans all quieted down as they felt fear fill their hearts! But even though they were quiet, the next human that was taken still had a large smile of happiness on his face as he headed toward the blessing of the gods!

These humans had also been smuggled onto this island by the anima. Pat’s MDS could only pick out the mana signatures of anima and superhumans using his scanner, so Pat had no idea that when the superhumans were being distracted by the large Eldritch class earlier, the anima had snuck hundreds of humans away from the mainland and towards this island.

The humans there were all part of the Syndicate, and they believed with all of their hearts that they had been cheated out of their rights when the superhumans were given power. Why would the gods only give power to some of the humans and not to others? Why were they made into prey while the other superhumans all had the means to survive? It wasn’t fair! They were cheated!

This was the thought process that made these humans begin to seek out power, and it wasn’t long until they found their way into the clutches of the Syndicate under the promise of power. The Syndicate told them that they would be given the power to fight back for themselves by the gods, and they didn’t need to be convinced for long before they signed their lives into the hands of the anima and were brought to be transformed.

The gods had chosen sides during this battle. Some of the gods chose the superhumans, and other gods chose the anima. But the humans that weren’t given power were left in the middle with no one to turn to, so these humans decided that they were going to pick sides for themselves, some of the humans chose to remain faithful to the superhumans while others chose to become a part of the anima rather than going to the gods that didn’t deem them worthy of receiving their blessings!

The people were all frantic at the chance of finally gaining power, and the mere sight of what they would be gaining in the form of the giant tiger in front of them now gave them even more hope for their future!

GROWL~!

The new anima tiger turned around with a low growl as it heard the sound of the humans cheering, and it felt its mouth water in hunger as it set eyes on one of the humans there! The sensation of hunger was intense because it was only a new anima, so it had already begun stalking towards the human with the intent of eating him before it even knew what it was doing!

The humans had stopped cheering at this point, and they began to move back in fear at the sight of the predator stalking towards them. It was staring at one of the young men there with its teeth bared at him, and the man whimpered as the anima slowly rose to its full height and towered over him like the beast it was! Was he going to get eaten here?

ROAR!!

GRAB!

The tiger anima was about to pounce on the man, but it was suddenly grabbed from behind by a thick bundle of pure white hair, and it felt all the air leave its lungs as it was tossed across the room and into the opposite wall of the cave!

BOOM!

The tiger slammed into the wall with intense force! A large crater formed on the wall as the entire cave shook from the force! The tiger growled in pain and tried to get out from the wall, but before it could go anywhere, another large ball of hair slammed into its stomach and held it in place!

The Bishop was still lying on top of the stone slab, and she spoke up in a bored, disinterested tone that still sent shivers down the spine of the tiger.

“If you try to kill any of the sacrifices again, I’ll eradicate you like the insect you are. Get out of my fucking sight, you half-breed.”

Bishop turned her cold eyes towards the tiger anima and sent some of her pressure towards it to subdue its mind, and the tiger whimpered in fear as it felt the Bishop’s power pressing down on it like a mountain! Once Bishop released the hair holding it in place, the tiger wasted no time and immediately raced out from the cave to go back to the tournament!

Up on the ceiling of the cave, Rook tittered in amusement and spoke up excitedly!

“You should have liquefied his organs, Bishop! That one would have been a good meal with how much meat he had in him!”

Bishop just sighed as she went back to staring up at the ceiling of the cave without bothering to answer Rook. She stayed like that for a few minutes as the humans were being taken one by one to the inner area of the cave, and finally, she decided that she had enough.

“I’ll leave the rest to you, Rook. I’m leaving.”

The Rook hummed in surprise and watched as Bishop was raised from the floor by her hair and started to float out from the cave slowly.

“Where are you going, Bishop?”

Rook didn’t see it, but the humans who were in front of Bishop all recoiled in fear as they saw the nasty way the Bishop’s face squeezed in sinister amusement. She spoke up without bothering to turn around.

“Didn’t you hear what the half-breed said? The QUEEN is here.”

The Rook skittered across the roof in agitation and spoke up with a hidden warning in his tone.

“You should stop, Bishop. Remember what the Knight said. She doesn’t want anyone touching the QUEEN.”

Bishop laughed.

“Who does the Knight think she is to order them around? Just because she was the first to reach our KING doesn’t mean she holds power over me. Besides, who said I was going to touch her? I just want to greet the one who was supposed to stand beside our KING. I just want to greet her, that is all.”
