Chapter 774: Expected Clash
[Sure thing, captain.]

The comms clicked off and Mark’s tattoo glowed a dull golden light as he sent out many of the birds around the island to keep an eye on what was going on at the cave as well. Once he was sure that they would warn him of any trouble, Mark turned back to look at Megumi only to see that she had a look of irritation in her eyes. Even with her impassive face, Mark could tell that she was not happy about the fact that he had ignored her while talking to someone else.

The blade pressing down on Mark’s gauntlet shifted a little, and Mark was quick to react as he turned his gauntlet to the side and avoided the slash that Megumi tried to use to take off his arm! Mark laughed! The crazy bitch wasn’t joking around!

Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Multiple slashes lit up the area as Megumi immediately went on the offensive! She dashed at Mark and kept the distance between them very small as she tried to take off various parts of his body, but Mark was able to easily dodge most of them as he took two steps back, and then he used his gauntlet to deflect the others! Through all of this, Mark had a large grin on his face as he studied Megumi very closely!

She fought using short, intense slashes. But Mark knew that this was not the only way she could fight. Mark had seen some of her fight videos before, and in most of them, she used large slashes to eradicate a large number of enemies at once. That could only mean one thing: she was being wary of him. Megumi didn’t want to overextend and give Mark any room for a counter!

Mark decided that since he had five minutes, he was going to go all out for those five minutes and then go check out what was going on with the anima. Mark’s mind zeroed in on Megumi! Mark’s ability to focus on his opponent in a fight was second to none! Once Mark enters a state of intense focus where only the thought of defeating the opponent was present in his mind, even the opponent would be able to feel that there was something different!

And Megumi was no exception. Megumi’s hand around her sword tightened as she narrowed her eyes slightly at Mark. She had no idea what he had changed in that short period, but she felt like she could not just rush in and attack like she done previously. Doing that would cost her life!

The two superhumans stared at each other with intensity for a few seconds and, at the end, it was Mark that made the first move!

WOOSH!

The [Fangs that Link the Heavens] shot out from behind Megumi and immediately raced toward her! Mark didn’t expect the Fangs to cause any damage, and he knew that Megumi would be able to sense the danger and dodge, but Mark was surprised when Megumi didn’t only dodge the attack—she was able to turn around and deflect it! Mark’s mouth split into a wide grin as he realized that there was something he didn’t know about Megumi’s power!

BOOM!

In the brief moment when Megumi turned around, Mark had already moved and pulled his hand back as he got close enough to Megumi and aimed a blow straight for her liver!

[Critical Hit]!

[Sonic Impact]!

Megumi’s entire body screamed danger as she noticed Mark right beside her, and she immediately contorted her body in a way that seemed impossible and put her forearm right in the path of Mark’s punch before he unleashed it!

BOOM!

The blow had been aimed straight for Megumi’s liver and the only reason it didn’t hit was because she blocked it, but since it was a sonic impact, the aftershock of blow flew past her defense and struck her deep in her body!

BOOM!

Megumi was shot back from the blow and she flew past more than ten trees! She brought her sword up just as she was passing beside a large anima and slashed it through the head! She then spun around, and slammed her feet into the trunk of a tree before she shot forward back to meet Mark again! As she headed forward, she noticed the sky darkening above her and she was shocked when she suddenly saw lightning streaking across the air!

Can he control lightning as well?

Megumi was surprised by the amount of lightning she could see there! Even some of the most powerful children of Zeus couldn’t summon this amount of lightning on their best day.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

The air roared in agitation as Megumi got closer, but Megumi didn’t even look away as she cleared the trees and saw Mark with his hand raised in the air! There was a strange look in his eyes, and if Megumi looked close enough, she could see the smirk that was present on his lips! Was he trying to mock her?

[Storm Chaser]!

BZZTTT!

Mark activated his full-body constitution and in the next moment, the entire sky lit up in blue lightning as a bolt shot down towards Megumi! Megumi didn’t even stop running as she headed straight for Mark and adjusted before the bolt of lightning was about to hit her, Mark was shocked when she spun around like a ballerina with her sword pointed at an angle above her and she tried to fucking redirect the lightning!

Megumi caught the lightning at the tip of her sword, and just before the lightning could get to her body, she stabbed the sword into the ground and let go of the pommel! The lightning was already absorbed by the sword, so once she let go of the pommel, a large amount of the lightning that had been taken into the sword started to head right into the ground to be spread out harmlessly! But Megumi had underestimated just how much lightning was present in the Storm Chaser and she wasn’t able to do anything as some of the lightning branched out from the sword and slammed into her side, making her release a low grunt as goosebumps traveled through her entire body!

Mark was shocked by what Megumi was able to do with the lightning! It wasn’t as if redirecting the lightning was an impossible feat, but the fact that she was able to move fast enough to spin on a dime like that and catch the lightning perfectly was impressive! Mark could feel his smile getting wider as he crouched into a ready stance and in the next moment, Mark was gone!

BOOM!

Mark unleashed another [Critical Hit] aimed straight for Megumi’s chest, and Megumi was able to grab her sword and put it in front of her at just the right moment before the blow struck!

BOOM!

The blow blew Megumi back like a rocket, and Megumi frowned slightly as she saw her sword crack at the edge from that blow! Megumi couldn’t afford to be relaxed at all anymore, or Mark was going to take away her only blade.

Megumi slammed through more than ten trees and she was about to turn around and use the next tree as a springboard to get back to Mark, but before she could do that, Mark was already on top of her!
