Chapter 784: People To Protect

“My brother! They… They killed my brother!”

Megumi suddenly collapsed into Mark as the full force of her emotions began to overwhelm her in that moment. Mark’s link allowed Megumi to bypass the penalty that her blessing put on her, and it gave her the ability to feel and express herself for a limited time after they formed a link. So right now, what Megumi was feeling wasn’t just the immediate emotion of that moment. Instead, it was the accumulated emotion of all the things she had always wanted to say or do. All the things she wished she had told her brother but was never able to. Megumi felt like her soul had been ripped in half!

[Mark, you need to get over there now! Tina is in trouble!]

Pat’s voice came through the comms, and Mark decided that he really didn’t have any fucking time for this! He had to get out of here!

Mark grit his teeth as he felt Megumi grab his shirt tightly and begin to cry even harder when he tried to pull away from her. Mark felt really bad for her, but this was not what Mark needed to be doing now. Mark really had to get to Arit! Mark grabbed Megumi by the shoulder and pulled her back roughly before he looked her in the eye and spoke quickly!

“I’m sorry about your brother, but I have people I need to protect as well. Get yourself together, and when you’re ready, come find me. I’ll listen to you then.”

BOOM!

Mark then took off into the air to where he could still feel Arit’s mana!

[A Few Minutes Earlier – With Arit and Tina]

They were losing badly!

Arit had this thought as she flew through the air quickly! She dodged around a long strand of hair that suddenly slashed across the air in front of her and moved to the left to avoid a few more strands that were carrying large trees to try and hit her! The constant barrage of hair strands forced Arit into a corner, and it wasn’t long before the Bishop dragged Arit back to the area where their fight was happening!

This was the method that the Bishop had been using to keep them in one place all this time. Tina’s first Celestial Fury managed to shock the Bishop enough to give them some space to move, and Arit immediately took to the air with Tina! Tina had dashed forward to attack the Bishop with her sword, but the Bishop had such a high constitution that Tina’s lightning sword didn’t do anything at all to her thick skin! The Bishop simply allowed the sword to scratch against her body a few times before using her hair as a fucking battering ram that slammed into Tina and threw her off!

Arit flashed down to where Tina was going to slam into the ground and she caught Tina and flew up into the air with her! Arit told Tina that she was going to go in for close quarters and Tina should provide as much support from a distance as possible! Arit was the stronger one out of them both, so she would stand a better chance of injuring the Bishop, and Tina agreed easily and activated her wings to go up!

Arit then dashed down for an attack and that was when Arit realized that she was at a serious disadvantage! Arit’s entire fighting style revolved around her anima instincts and her ability to sense and react to danger that came in faster than almost anything else! But that part of her fighting style turned out to be a bad matchup for the Bishop because the Bishop was also capable of doing just that!

The Bishop sent out her hair in ways that Arit just couldn’t keep up with! Every time Arit came in close, the Bishop would use her hair to try and skewer Arit! And since Arit already saw what the hair could do, Arit knew better than to allow it to hit her! The Bishop would force Arit away from her with her hair, and then when Arit tried to use the trees and large rocks as cover to get the Bishop’s hair tangled, the Bishop just easily tore through them!

BOOM!

The entire area looked like a tornado had run through it, and the Bishop’s hair was constantly moving about erratically like a beast with a thousand hands, trying its best to destroy everything in its path! Up in the sky, Tina was dodging projectiles thrown at her by the Bishop as she raised her hand in the air and activated the [Celestial Fury] again!

BZTTTT!

The skill sent down a massive bolt of lightning towards the Bishop, but before it could get to her, a wall made of hair formed over the Bishop’s head, absorbing the lightning and dissipating it into nothing! Tina cursed at this and put her hand up to her ear as she heard a voice coming through!

[Need some help?]

Tina’s face immediately widened into a smile as she recognized the voice as Hao from the Vanguard guild! The sky darkened as a massive shadow fell over them all, and Tina immediately moved out of the way when she realized what was about to happen! Up in the sky, a massive red dragon more than three hundred meters in length with massive wings and green eyes glared down at the Bishop! On its head, Hao was standing calmly with his hands held behind his back, and when Hao gave the dragon a mental command, the dragon opened its mouth and roared fire down on the island!

ROARRRRRR!!!

The fire screeched down to the ground in all its righteous fucking glory, and Hao watched as the Bishop brought up her hand and faced it towards the fire! Hao thought she was going to use her hair as some sort of shield, but Hao was shocked when she didn’t do that at all! The Bishop simply allowed the fire to swallow her, and she fucking tanked it like it was nothing! Hao felt a sweat drop down the side of his face as he almost felt like laughing!

That flame was powerful enough to destroy a fucking mountain, and this woman was just tanking it like it was nothing! What the fuck were they facing here!?

WOOSH! WOOSH! WOOSH!

Hao immediately had to move out of the way as he saw hundreds of hair strands flying towards him at breakneck speed! The hairs were all sharp as needles and as strong as fucking adamantine, and Hao didn’t want to find out what would happen to his dragon if something like that stabbed into it!

The Bishop had a grin on her face as she sent the hairs after Hao, and she turned quickly to her side as she felt something dangerous coming from there! Arit had been coming up from the Bishop’s blind spot with the intention of attacking her when she was busy trying to fend off Hao, but the Bishop easily sent her hair after Arit as well, and Arit was forced to dodge to the other way before the hair skewered her to the ground! This continued for a long time.
