Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 794
Chapter 794: Information
Genshi Naruhito was having a headache. The recent superhuman tournament had turned out to be very different from what anyone thought it would be, and he was slowly realizing that not only had he been played for a fool all this time, but he had allowed a dangerous organization to use the tournament as a means of carrying out their plan.
The superhuman alliance wasn’t stupid. They were all aware of exactly what sort of monsters they had put in the tournament because there were a lot of safety parameters that they had to deal with before they were even allowed to handle that many anima at the same time. So for them to see not only anima that were far stronger than the ones they thought would be in the tournament but also human-animal hybrids that appeared from the superhumans entered by some of the countries, there was no shortage of blame going around the entire organization.
Right now, the head of the Russian superhuman alliance had been arrested and taken into custody for questioning. The man hadn’t said a word yet, but the alliance had more than enough methods for getting information out of him so they didn’t have to worry about torturing him for long. But along with the Russian head, the president of Japan was also arrested and taken in by the Superhuman alliance.
The recent state of things in the country only occurred due to the president’s insistence on holding the tournament in Japan, and since the president was the one in charge of ensuring that the tournament competitors and anima were well-vetted and cleared so that nothing dangerous would happen, there was a lot that the president had to answer for.
Genshi had saved himself from being arrested by the fact that he didn’t have any form of attachment to the tournament. Right from the start, Genshi had been against this tournament taking place, and he never failed to make his opinion on the president and his choice to hold the tournament in Japan known. The association knew how much Genshi loved Japan, so they were aware that he would not do something that would endanger the lives of the citizens to this level.
But even though he was not under arrest, Genshi was still under suspicion, and it was going to take a long time before he was allowed to carry out his duties as the Director of the Japanese Superhuman Alliance to the fullest.
Genshi knew that a lot of that was just bullshit. The real reason why they didn’t take him in with the president was because the superhuman alliance needed someone to calm the nerves of the people and put them at ease after what they had just witnessed in the tournament. After something like that, there were a lot of questions flying around, and the people wanted to know if this was all planned or if something had gone wrong that led to the deaths of so many superhumans.
If the Superhuman Alliance took in both the president of the country and the Director of their Superhuman Alliance, then it would be impossible for them to bring order since no one would be there to do it. Genshi was left there as a deterrent that would be in charge of making sure people did not panic.
But Genshi knew that the Superhuman Alliance was seriously underestimating just how serious the situation was. Genshi never thought that things would become this bad this quickly!
Knock! Knock!
Ka-Cha!
The sound of a knock on Genshi’s door drew his attention, and Genshi raised a brow in surprise when he heard it being opened without him telling whoever was there to come in! Who in the world could possibly dare to enter the office of a Director in the Superhuman Alliance without an invitation? There were very few people Genshi knew would try something like that, and there was only one that Genshi had been expecting.
“Matte! Mark-san!”
The door opened fully, and Mark entered without any form of greeting. Genshi’s secretary ran into the room while holding her kimono up and calling out for Mark to stop! It was very disrespectful to enter any room without asking the person inside for permission first, and the woman knew that Genshi hated it when the tradition was not kept! If Genshi got angry enough, she could even lose her job because of this!
The woman bowed at ninety degrees once she got to the office and apologized while telling Genshi that she couldn’t stop Mark from getting past the security to come here. Genshi just raised a hand and told her that it was alright. He never expected her to be able to stop someone like Mark anyway.
“Leave us.”
Genshi spoke up in Japanese, and the woman bowed again before she closed the door and left. Once she was gone, Genshi and Mark simply stared each other down without saying a word for a few seconds. The office that Genshi was in was different from the one he had received Megumi in a few days ago. That office was more like a bedroom, and Genshi only used that office when he was relaxing and meeting up with friends or close confidants that he wanted to have secret conversations with. This office, meanwhile, was more modernized. It had a large wooden table and a comfortable chair where Genshi was seated. Behind Genshi, there were various images of previous important men from Japanese history, and at the side of the room was a sword rack that held various katanas.
Genshi pointed towards the visitor’s chair in front of his table and asked Mark if he wouldn’t sit down, and Mark refused.
“I don’t have time to waste here. I just want to look you in the eye and ask a question. What the fuck happened in this tournament?”
Genshi hummed and leaned back in his chair before putting his hands together inside his kimono sleeves.
“That’s not for you to concern yourself with, Mark Vanitas. You’ve entered my country, like you wished, and you are finished with the tournament. Now, it is time for you to leave.”
Mark felt anger surge from inside his head once he heard Genshi say that it was none of his business, and pressure slowly started to fill the room as Mark’s eyes narrowed into a glare.
“None of my business? Are you fucking insane? Do you know how many people died in that tournament? People from my fucking country died in there, and you are saying it isn’t my business! The only reason I’m not coming through the table to kill you is because you’re the only one that can tell me what happened, but I promise you, I am not above beating the shit out of a man as old as you. Tell me what happened.”
Knock! Knock!
Ka-Cha!
The sound of the door opening again alerted both Genshi and Mark to the appearance of a new visitor. Mark already knew who it was because he felt her energy signature from outside, but Genshi didn’t have the same sensory precision as Mark, and so he was surprised to see who it was.
“Megumi?”
Megumi came to stand beside Mark in front of Genshi’s table. Megumi had been outside all this while, and she heard everything that Mark had just said to Genshi, so she didn’t need to be brought up to speed about the conversation. Instead, she just stared her former mentor in the eye and said one short sentence.
“I also want to know.”
