Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 813
Chapter 813: Cracked
Luna didn’t show it, but her fear for Mark’s safety was also starting to bleed through the phone. Luna was Mark’s girlfriend, and no woman would want her partner going into such danger when they didn’t have enough manpower. Even for someone as powerful as Mark, Luna was still afraid.
Mark told Luna that he wasn’t going to just leave the entire country to be reduced to nothing like that if he had the ability to do something about it. There were millions trapped in Germany, and there were no superhumans in the country with enough power to stop that many anima. If they just allowed that many anima to leave and head through Germany, then the possibility of them moving across the ocean and getting to other parts of the world was very high. It was better for Mark to go there and stop them.
Luna took in a deep sigh as she heard this explanation. It was the most sensible thing that they could do right now, and Luna knew that trying to talk Mark out of this would be impossible—and selfish. She couldn’t stop Mark from trying to help people if that was what he wanted to do. But that didn’t mean she was going to allow him to go alone.
[I’m coming with you.]
Luna spoke with a tone of finality that didn’t leave any room for argument. Luna knew that the anima in the country were not that dangerous anymore since she and the Alpha had already taken care of the most dangerous ones. Even if she left now, the country would be able to handle the remaining anima easily. Luna was not going to allow Mark to head into a battle like this without help.
Mark was about to say something to Luna, but another voice suddenly cut into their conversation.
[I think you both should hold your horses. There’s something I just found out. Something fucking big. Fuck, I’m awesome! I deserve a freaking raise for this!]
Pat’s voice suddenly filtered through comms, interrupting Mark and Luna’s conversation as he laughed and praised himself.
“Pat. What the fuck did you find out?”
Mark immediately cut off the rank and asked Pat what the fuck he had found out. Pat laughed in self-righteous praise for a few more seconds before he cleaned the side of his eyes and spoke excitedly.
[The notes! I found out where the Syndicate base is! I fucking found it!]
Mark’s eyes widened in shock as Pat said this.
Mark couldn’t even speak for a few seconds as he listened to Pat laugh in pride once again.
Pat had been working on the notes that Mark gave him all this while, nonstop. Even while he was trying to do all the other things that Mark told him to do, Pat was still working on the notes. At first, Pat thought he was going to hit a dead end with the haunted building that his AI helped him find before the explosion ruined the building he was in, but it turned out that wasn’t a dead end at all. In fact, that was the perfect boost Pat needed in order to figure out what the rest of the notes meant.
Grace had been working on deciphering the locations that were printed in longitudes on the notes, and it didn’t take her long to come back with the information that Pat needed.
Once Pat realized that the building he saw in the picture was one of the locations that Grace had deciphered from the latitudes, he immediately began using the hieroglyphics in the notes to figure out what the writings meant.
The writing was abstract and really old. It was like a mix of various archaic languages thrown together and used almost aimlessly to print out a message. But Pat knew there had to be some sort of logic to it. No language existed without logic—it was impossible to pass a message unless the person on the other end was able to figure out what the message meant. Now, Pat just had to figure out what the person on the other end would have used to decode a message like this one.
Pat ran through hundreds of simulations, both on his laptop and in his head. Most of Pat’s processing power was down because of the explosion that took his server connection from him. There was a server farm in City S that always handled the more complex calculations and processes he needed, but he couldn’t connect to it while he was here in Japan, so he had to rely on the processor in his laptop. It was one of the more powerful NVIDIA processors, but it was nothing compared to the farm, which was why Pat took this long to complete the process.
Finally, after more than five hours of processing and analysis, Pat figured out exactly what the message in the book said. The messages weren’t just simple notes; rather, they were orders sent from one generation of the Syndicate to the next. The messages told the new generation about their mission for the next few years and how they were supposed to carry it out. This would then help them find and build a new base and identity, allowing them to dig even deeper into society without anyone realizing who the Syndicate truly was.
The final message had been sent only five years ago, and it was the one that took Pat the longest to decipher. In that message, they spoke about a structure in the center of the ocean that had been built over the past few years. That was the main base of the Syndicate and the location from which they were carrying out all their main operations. If they wanted to destroy the Syndicate, then that was where they would have to start.
[The structure is deep in the Bermuda Triangle. That’s the reason why things have been going missing around there for so long. The structure is causing a magnetic interference that’s making planes and ships lose navigation. If you go there and get that structure out of the water, then you can tear out the very root of the Syndicate.]
The Bermuda Triangle? That was all the way in the North Atlantic Ocean, on the other side of the world from where Mark was. If Mark even tried to head there, then he would be giving up the chance to stop the anomaly in Germany before they could move toward other countries.
But this was big. If Pat was this certain about what he found, then Mark knew he could trust it. Pat had never made a mistake in such a serious moment before.
Mark closed his eyes and thought for a few seconds about what they were going to do next. He had to be very careful about how he handled things. Taking care of both the Syndicate and the King was the current goal. If Mark handled the King first, then it was possible that the Syndicate would go into hiding again, and it would take them even more time to find out where they were the next time. But if Mark took care of the Syndicate first, then he would be allowing the King to move across the world unchecked.
“Mark, I found some Superhuman Alliance agents that are ready to head toward Germany with you. You can take about two hundred people, but that’s the limit we can spare without leaving the country unprotected. I also spoke to some other members of the Alliance in other countries, and some of them are willing to help as well.”
Genshi had been hesitant to send any Alliance members with Mark at first because he didn’t think that the enemy in Germany was something that the Germans wouldn’t be able to handle.
He thought it was just another arrogant threat they would be able to easily take care of with the number of undefined superhumans they had. But this time, things were different.
After seeing what that monster just did with his own eyes on the screen, there was nothing short of a miracle that would be able to stop it.
