Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 820
Chapter 820: Renewed Confidence
“Madam Luna.”
A voice called from behind Luna, and Luna turned around to see a young woman standing there. The woman was wearing a full black garb, like a priestess outfit, and when Luna stared into her eyes, she could tell the woman was someone important just from the way she looked at her with intensity.
The woman smiled at Luna before walking forward and speaking to her.
“You are one of those who have been chosen by the KING to be his true follower. I do not possess the strength to serve the KING on the battlefield, but I and the rest of the cult of Vanitas shall be praying to the KING for your victory.”
Luna couldn’t hide her surprise, even if she wanted to, as the woman reached out and took Luna’s hand. The woman put a small symbol in Luna’s palm, and when Luna looked down at it, she saw that it was a bronze carving of a decorative V that was resting on a strange symbol. Luna immediately recognized the symbol as the one that Mark had on his forehead.
“This is the symbol of the cult of Vanitas.”
‘Mark has a cult?’
Luna was surprised that Mark even had a cult named after him, but she wasn’t as surprised as she thought she would be. Someone as great as Mark always had those that were fanatic followers. Mark having a cult named after him and praying to him wasn’t the craziest thing that Luna would ever discover about her boyfriend.
Luna was just grateful that the cult was not the murderous type that went around killing innocents in the name of Vanitas.
The priestess spoke up while joining her hands together in front of her.
“Please accept the symbol of Mark Vanitas as a means of protection. May your battle against the forces of evil be a fruitful one. I pray for your victory and the victory of everyone else who has chosen to follow after the KING.”
Once she had said what she wanted, the woman turned around and started to walk away without bothering to wait for a response. Luna herself didn’t think she had the words to respond to the woman’s fanatical words, but as Luan stared down at the symbol in her hand, she felt a strange sort of confidence coming over her. Luna suddenly felt like she had the confidence to head for battle without worrying about Mark.
Luna put the symbol in her pocket, and her eyes narrowed seriously as she refastened her hair into a bun and started to head toward the plane to leave for the Bermuda Triangle.
…
[Japan. With Arit and Jeanne]
Arit watched as Genshi took to the battlefield while wielding his katana like a different man.
Megumi and Mark had left the country a few hours ago to head toward their own battles, and since Genshi was now one of the most powerful superhumans in the country, he had to take to the streets to join the others in taking care of any anima that appeared.
Arit didn’t have any thoughts in her mind as she also fought against a giant Eldritch-class anima that tried to sneak up on her.
Arit was not tired since she was constantly taking mana from the anima she was killing, and the help from the other superhumans gave her room to breathe between battles.
The Eldritch class didn’t stand a chance against Arit as she easily tore its large head off its body, spraying blood everywhere and leaving it to fall to the ground in a lifeless heap! The superhumans were still a bit uncomfortable watching Arit handle anima in such a ruthless manner, but they wouldn’t dare say anything since Arit was one of the only superhumans in the country capable of handling anything above Calamity class. They needed her.
Arit stood on the body of the dead anima and looked around. They were close to the central hospital in Japan, and Jeanne was still taking care of all the patients that had been popping up due to how suddenly the anima attacked.
There were hundreds of them when the battle began, but now it had reduced to just their tens, and the people remaining weren’t that critical, so Jeanne was starting to talk about moving away from Japan to the next country that needed help.
Of course, Arit would have to go with Jeanne since the entire reason Arit stayed behind in Japan was to make sure that Jeanne was not harmed by the anima.
But even with the current state of things, Arit was still not focused on the fight she was in. Arit’s mind was on Mark, and she couldn’t help the worry in her heart as she looked up into the sky in the direction that Mark had gone.
The fight between the anima KING and Mark was not going to be televised, but there was no doubt in Arit’s mind that she would be able to tell how the battle was going just from the state of the world. There would be a shift in the minds and hearts of everyone depending on who comes out on top in that battle.
Not being able to see what was going on was both a mercy and a curse. It made Arit less distracted so that she could focus on her own battle, but it also made her very tense, preventing her from giving it her all in the battles.
‘Please be okay.’
Arit closed her eyes and put her hand up to her face as she felt something like a sob coming to her. Arit had never been this worried about Mark before. Even though he had gone to battle hundreds of times in the past, this one felt different. The stakes were much higher.
“Arit, what are you doing?”
A voice called from behind Arit, and Arit quickly ran her hand across her face to hide the tears that had fallen before returning to face her mentor. Jeanne was walking out of the hospital with her hands in her lab coat pockets and a tired look in her eyes.

Jeanne had been working for the past ten hours nonstop trying to heal patients and give aid to the ones that didn’t need her special brand of healing, so there was no doubt that she was extremely tired.
Jeanne came out here to take a break from the entire hustle and bustle inside the hospital, and the first thing she saw was Arit standing on top of a giant monster with her hand on her face. Jeanne didn’t need to be a genius to know what was happening.
“You’re scared for him, aren’t you?”
Jeanne said while bringing out a piece of chocolate from her pocket and unwrapping it. The chocolate was something she stored away hours ago to eat, but she never got around to it because she was so busy. Arit watched as Jeanne tore the wrapping apart and handed her half of the chocolate while waiting for an answer. Arit jumped down from the anima’s body and reached out for the chocolate, but Jeanne pulled back and raised a brow. Arit had to answer before she could get the chocolate.
Arit sighed and finally answered.
“Yeah. I guess I am.”
Jeanne hummed as she handed Arit the chocolate and started to eat the other half.
“You shouldn’t be. He doesn’t need your fear weighing him down right now.”
Jeanne said this in a calm voice, and Arit grunted as she stared at the chocolate. Arit didn’t even have an appetite to eat it.
“I can’t help it. I just don’t know what’s happening. I don’t want to lose him. It’s been too dangerous lately. Everything that happened in the world has been happening too fast. I can’t even wrap my head around it all, and before I could get used to it, something like this popped up. It’s too much too quickly.”
