Chapter 825: Lovecraftian Mythology
The structure wobbled a few times, and Luna immediately poured her mana into the cracks that appeared under the structure and she roared in exertion as she began to pull the structure out from the water!
Rumble! Rumble!
ROARR!!
Rumble!
ROOARRR!
The rumble of lightning and thunder echoed through the night, drowning out the roars of the children of Neptune, but that wasn’t the only thing that rumbled!
All the children of Neptune were pushing upward and trying to get the structure out even faster, so they weren’t able to notice, but the superhumans who weren’t working on the structure were able to notice that there was a roar coming from somewhere behind them!
They all turned to look at where the noise was coming from and they felt their eyes widen as they saw hundreds of thousands of anima racing towards where they were.
The anima had all been alerted by their actions, and they were coming from all over the world to confront the superhumans who were trying to destroy what was under the Bermuda Triangle!
The superhumans started to prepare their blessings as they got ready to face off against the anima! There were thousands of superhumans there and they were all in B rank and above, so they knew that they would be able to put up a good fight against the anima! They just had to hold on until the children of Neptune pulled out the structure!
[Luna! Something is coming from the distance! There are hundreds of anima!]
“I know!”
Pat’s voice shouted through the comms to tell Luna that there were hundreds of anima approaching, but he was a little too late since Luna already knew that they were coming!
She could hear them over the roar of the ocean!
Pat cursed over the comms as he worked on trying to track the movement of all the anima! Pat hadn’t been able to communicate with Luna earlier because he was busy trying to recalibrate the MDS to work even through the electromagnetic distortion that had formed over the Bermuda Triangle!
Now that it could work and he had also worked on the comm signal to make them work properly as well, Pat was trying to see what it was that the superhumans were bringing up from the ocean!
As the structure rose higher through the ocean, Pat was getting a better signal from the MDS as he scanned over it! There was an alarm from the side and Pat turned to look and saw that it was an alert from the MDS. Pat opened it and saw hundreds of thousands of blue lights lighting up the sky from all around the Bermuda Triangle.
Those were superhumans that were coming to help!
Pat immediately spoke to Luna and the other members of the Vanguard Guild through the comms!
[You have incoming from the Asian continent! Megumi and the Superhuman Alliance agents are on their way to your position!]
The superhumans that were waiting for the anima to arrive all turned to see that Pat was right! The sky was littered with hundreds of aircraft heading straight for them, with some ships also moving through the turbulent sea!
The superhumans that were on their way were going to arrive at around the same time as the anima that were coming from the opposite direction, so the superhumans on the ice platform felt some form of relief at this realization!
But their relief did not last long as they all felt something press down on them from all directions!
DOON!
A feeling like pure despair traveled across the entire field of superhumans, tearing through their confidence and making them come to the realization of their own mortality in that brief moment!
No one was able to tell where the feeling had come from at first, but as the children of Neptune dragged the structure upwards, a roar like the cry of a Lovecraftian creature from lost mythology echoed through the night sea, bubbling out from the ocean and making everyone there fall back as they lost their hold on the structure!
ROARRRRRRRR!!!
Luna also fell back as she lost her hold on the structure and she was shocked when she felt that the structure was still moving upwards by itself! It was speeding up and heading straight for them!
On the other side of the world, inside a room in the Japanese hospital, Pat felt his eyes widen in shock as the MDS finally got a good reading of what had been under the sea all this time! It was a creature so unbelievably large that for a moment, Pat thought the earth itself had given birth to an abomination!
The red circle on Pat’s screen was large enough to cover the land space of a large city! Easily toppling and dwarfing anything that the world had ever seen before! It was an Elder Armageddon!

[Luna! Move back! Move back now!]
Pat shouted into the comms once he saw that the creature was going to strike the ice platform where Luna was standing and Luan immediately used her mana to make the ice under her move back quickly! The other superhumans that had been around her weren’t so lucky and they were thrown into the air by the sheer force generated once the monster tore itself out from the ocean with a roar of pure madness!
ROOOARRRR!!
It was like nothing that Luna had ever seen before. If you were to ask her to describe it at that moment, Luna knew that she wouldn’t even be able to find the words for it.
It was large, its body taking up s so much space that the sea itself seemed to disappear behind it. It had black, scaly skin and a large bulbous head with a wide mouth and sharp teeth attached to a long neck that stretched out from a ball-like body. Rather than legs, it had fins that it used to keep itself afloat in the turbid waters, and on its back was something resembling a turtle shell, except it was not a shell at all.
It was a large city-like structure with a glass dome covering it.
The syndicate had built their megastructure on the back of a giant anima.
At that moment, only one word could describe the feeling of every superhuman present.
“Fuck.”
…
[Germany. With Mark and the Anima KING.]
The two powerhouses stood on top of opposing buildings sizing each other up. Mark could tell from the mana emanating from the Anima King that he was the most powerful anima that he had ever seen before. His power was three—no, at least four times that of the Armageddon that Mark fought when he first got his powers.
And it wasn’t just the fact that he had more mana than the Armageddon, it was the feeling that the mana gave Mark that was the real threat.
The mana was denser and much heavier. Like it was trying to oppress everything around it and take them under its command by force! There was no escaping the sheer brutality of it.
Normally, at a time like this, Mark would feel that excitement he always felt just before a battle coursing through his body. He was the sort of person who didn’t allow the stakes of a battle to get to him. Instead, he just enjoyed the battle and everything in it. He tries to figure out the best way to win while still getting as much joy out of the fight as possible.
But Mark didn’t feel that excitement this time. The weight of expectation that had been placed on him for this fight was preventing that excitement from bubbling up from his stomach. Mark just felt the ice-cold chill of a calm mind and body coursing through his veins.
Every move had to be perfect. Every punch had to be aimed to kill. Every block had to flow into a counterattack. That was the only way Mark would be able to win this fight.
