Chapter 829: Queen and Knight – The Prologue
[Japan – The Tokyo Airport]
“Get the supplies to the plane! We need to get out of here before the storm gets too intense!”
Jeanne shouted out her order to the Superhumans helping her as she watched and made sure that they were packing everything she needed. Jeanne had finished treating all of the Superhumans that needed help here, so she was on her way to another continent to help them out as well.
Jeanne had planned on taking a few of the healers from Japan with her to go to the other continent along with Arit and Pat, but Pat had opted to stay behind because he didn’t want to leave in the middle of the fight that was shaping up.
Both Luna and Mark were being helped by Pat through the comms, and when Jeanne went to see him, she could tell just how much work Pat was doing taking care of both big fights at the same time.
Moving Pat around when he was so focused would be bad for his concentration.
So she decided she would leave Pat in the care of Genshi and the other Superhuman alliance in Japan, and she was going to just take Arit with her.
Pat had warned Arit earlier about some monster that was targeting her specifically, but Pat told Arit that since she was going to be heading off to another country, the monster would most likely not be able to track her down.
Besides, there were no other Superhumans in Japan that were as strong as Arit. Putting anyone else as her guard would be pointless.
The Superhumans finished putting all of the supplies into the plane, and Jeanne called on Arit to board the plane so they would head out to South Korea.
That was the country that was closest to Japan, and Jeanne wanted to work her way through the countries one by one to make sure that she didn’t waste too much time in any one country.
They boarded the plane, and it took off from the runway quickly enough, and Jeanne kept her eyes on Arit as they went to make sure she was no longer sulking about Mark fighting alone.
There was a satellite feed that Pat had tapped into to get a good look at what was shaping up in the fight between Mark and the Anima King, but Jeanne had made sure that Pat didn’t tell Arit anything about it so that she wouldn’t try to get the video feed as well.
Jeanne knew that it was cruel, but Arit would be too distracted if she knew what was happening in that fight.
Jeanne needed Arit to be at her best when they got to Korea.
Arit was looking out from the window at her side while watching the storm pass through. There was some shaking in the plane due to turbulence, but it wasn’t too much to bother any of the Superhumans onboard.
There had been reports of multiple Category Seven earthquakes in Germany on the news recently, and Jeanne knew that it was because of the fight between Mark and the Anima King.
All efforts by the news channels to get close to the fight had been stopped because of the numerous Anima that surrounded the German airspace.
After more than ten reporters were killed as they tried to get through, they had to stop trying, and they just relied on the reports of tremors and some satellite pictures that they were able to tap into themselves to see snapshots of the state of the country.
In her heart, Arit was still worried about Mark, but she also knew that Jeanne needed her to be at her best, so she was trying not to let her worry get the better of her. She was just going to—
Arit suddenly stopped as she felt something in the distance. There was a rumble of lightning and thunder in the sky before another turbulent wind passed by the plane, shaking it, but Arit ignored all of that as she sat up from her seat and ran towards the front of the plane while shouting!
“Tell the pilot to dive! Now!”
Jeanne and everyone else onboard were stunned when they heard Arit saying this. All the Superhumans on the plane were far weaker than Arit, so they weren’t able to feel what she had felt, but as the danger got closer, they suddenly realized what was coming for them!
Anima!
There were hundreds of Anima heading for their plane, and one of them was shooting right toward them.
At the speed it was going, it would destroy the plane from the kinetic impact alone!
Arit tore open the panel door with brute force and jumped out of the plane at the same time the pilot suddenly went into a mad dive that drove the plane down toward the ocean below!
The silhouette of an Anima showed through the air as it headed straight for the plane, and Arit shot forward with intense speed and sent mana through her body like Mark had taught her to increase her durability before using all of her strength to slam into the figure that had been falling from the sky!
BOOM!
The shockwave caused a massive sonic boom to echo through the night as they flew through the air, and Arit dragged the Anima away from the plane!

Arit turned her head around to look at where the plane was, and she was happy to see that the plane had gone a fair distance away and was already disappearing into the distance!
The other Anima were still chasing after the plane, but it was going faster than them, so at least Jeanne and the others were going to be alright!
Arit turned back to the Anima she had in her grip, and Arit’s eyes widened as she saw the Anima’s mouth open wide to reveal multiple rows of sharp teeth! The Anima grabbed Arit by the arm and bit down hard!
CRUNCH!
The sound of bones cracking echoed through the night as Arit shouted in pain before she pulled her other hand back and stabbed the Anima through the shoulder, making it roar in pain as it released its teeth and flew back!
Both of them nursed their injuries while sizing the other one up.
The Anima in front of Arit was the same one that had confronted Mark in Germany. This was the Knight.
One of its four arms held the wounded shoulder tightly, and another hand cleaned Arit’s blood from its jaw.
Arit tightened her hand into a fist as she felt the wound on her hand throbbing with pain. Arit looked down at it, and she saw that it was already turning black at the edges.
Arit had been poisoned.
‘I need to get back to Jeanne before the poison spreads. It’s a surface wound, so it won’t seep into my heart unless I strain myself too much. If I can kill this Anima quickly before it gets too far, then Jeanne can stop it while only taking a few days from my life.’
Arit’s mind whirled through the medical implications of the injury quickly. Arit had been trained in dealing with poison from Anima by Jeanne many times before. It was one of the things that Jeanne was very good at handling.
Arit eyed the Anima from a distance as the Anima started to laugh while licking the blood on its lips away.
“So this is the QUEEN that took what was to be rightfully mine? You thought you could escape from me by running to a different country? Hehehehe, how foolish. Just like your KING. You don’t need to worry about anyone interfering in our battle; the others know that you are mine to kill.”
There was a beat of silence that passed through the air as the Knight mentioned Mark, and Arit’s eyes seemed to glow with a completely different form of power as she turned and glared at the Knight. Arit tore out some cloth from her shirt and tied it around her hand in an imitation of a bandage.
‘Kill this bitch! I don’t care if we lose our fucking arm! Just kill this stupid bitch!’
The QUEEN raged in Arit’s head in anger, and Arit felt their own eyes narrow as they fully agreed with the QUEEN.
