Struggling as a Villain - Chapter 293
Chapter 293: Chapter 292- Son
The reason Eleanor brought out such a treasured artifact which she was saving to use against the Death God, was because of her fear
Despite how she treats James, it is inevitable that he is the son of a Goddess.
And Eleanor knows the consequences of something happening to James. As such, the moment she realized that Richard was going to take the job of putting down the boy, she used the Aembr suppressing tool.
As she expected, the artifact did the work well by rendering every Aembr-users useless once the waves of the artifact struck them.
The soldiers from the enemy side fell to their knees, and even the strong Generals were having a hard time retaining their composure.
However, the one whom she wanted to stop the most using the artifact was Richard.
“It’s working…” She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw his elemental form wavering. The never-ending flames of the redhead, flickering because of the effect
She thought, having his energy disrupted would stop or maybe slow him down. And in the meantime, the apostles would get James to safety.
However, she was wrong….so, wrong.
“No!” She yelled as she saw Richard reverting to his human form, and the infamous golden staff appearing in his hand.
She has heard things about that weapon which makes her cautious when it appeared in his hand for the first time.
But the reason she panicked was because Richard wasn’t thinking of slowing down at all
He was headed towards James at full speed!
“Go save him!” She shouted before several apostles launched toward James.
However, it was too late. Richard was too fast!
**BOOOOOOOM**
The end of the staff landed on top of James’ head, breaking all the telekinetic barriers the demi-god formed over him.
The ground rumbled, and a cloud of dust erupted from the collision point.
The apostles were forced to cover their eyes as they came to a halt in mid-air.
Eleanor’s eyes were stretched as she lowered her hand which was holding the artifact.
If something…happens to James….
‘No…it can’t be…’ Her face went pale as the dust cleared, and two figures appeared.
Two…divinities.
Richard was pulled away, knowing that he couldn’t face the enemy who had descended.
And thankfully, from his side, Zulcriz didn’t delay in showing himself as well.
The figure class in brilliant light was the Goddess of War and Thunder—Atheris.
The sky split into two halves—one burning with golden light, the other swallowed by endless darkness. Thunder rumbled through the heavens, fierce and unrelenting, while a chilling wind howled from the void, carrying whispers of the countless souls claimed by death.
Atheris, the Goddess of War and Thunder, stood tall, her radiant armor crackling with divine energy. Every breath she took sent arcs of lightning dancing through the air, and the clouds above churned like a furious storm, heavy with her wrath.
She was holding her son in her arms. His head had exploded when Richard attacked him, and if not for the divine one appearing at the same time, the being named James would have no longer existed anymore.
The King of Death, in contrast, was a void of silence. The land beneath his feet withered. The warmth of life drained from the air, and the cries of crows echoed from nowhere. His scythe, resting lazily on his shoulder, seemed to drink in the light, leaving only creeping shadows behind.

Zulcriz was expecting something like this to happen when he realized that Richard was going to kill James rather than defeat him.
Well, he doesn’t mind since this was a war where death was something one should be prepared for.
“Hey, Atheris. Long time.” Zulcriz nonchalantly voiced as he remained prepared to counter any attack Atheris might direct towards Richard.
Considering how much she adores her children, James being on the verge of perishing makes her a very dangerous entity.
If push comes to shove, Zulcriz might need to go on a full-fledged battle against the goddess.
However, with his current powers, it was highly unlikely he would win against her.
“Your successor…has once again…harmed my kin.” Her voice was slow and laborer, almost like she was holding her anger from surfacing.
The ground was trembling under her presence. Her presence was not only affecting the forces of the dark side but the apostles as well.
Ethan might be the only one who looked at the battlefield with an indifferent look on his face and his hands crossed.
He could have saved James in time, but he wasn’t given the task to save his fellow apostles but to eradicate the demonic army.
And when James was about to get muttered, he couldn’t have killed the leader of the enemy forces.
Back on the battlefield, Zulcriz voiced, “So what are you doing to do? We both know that you cannot interfere with the mortal realm unless you are ready to lose your divinity.”
Zulcriz challenged. Unless she stops being a God, she won’t raise her hand against anyone here.
Atheris narrowed her eyes, her anger soaring through the roof but not reaching any mortal.
She clung to her son, healing him as she did, before she said, “I can’t touch your apostle, but,”
Suddenly, a thin smirk lifted the edge of her lips, as she added, “But mine can.”
When those words left her mouth, suddenly, a huge source of energy caught Zulcriz’s eyes.
Every eye turned towards the person who stood atop the fortress with his whole body glowing with brilliant radiance.
Ethan couldn’t understand what was happening as he felt his mind losing coordination with his body, and slowly, the boy lost his ability to comprehend.
Eleanor watched in concern as Ethan’s eyes turned dead, and his energy levels made the air turn heavy.
Richard frowned as he switched to his elemental state upon realizing the severity of the matter.
Ethan jumped from the fortress, and in the next instance—
**BOOOOOOM**
He exploded an orb of ether right before Richard’s face.
“RICHARD!”
