Stuck in a Chinese novel - Chapter 434
Chapter 434: Seige?
Okay, so as many of you know that character art has been the greatest challenge for me when writing this novel. I have been scammed twice, and even after hiring appropriate people, I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome. So, after a lot of practice, I learned to do so on my own. But even then, it wasn’t easy, and it took about a day to just make one character. So far, I have only made Wei Jun and Lin Ruan’s art. Perhaps by the end of this week, I’ll be able to make two to three more characters’ art. I will upload them to Discord as soon as I learn how to, and you can decide whether they’re appropriate to the character description or not.
Let me know which character you think I should focus on.
That’s it. Enjoy!

Chapter 434
[System update complete]
[Shop has been updated]
[Inventory has been updated]
[Level +91]
[All updates have been completed]
[All status effects have been restored]
[Party members Natasha Miller and Xia Lu have been found in critical condition due to their usage of soul power]
[Death power has been used to restore the effect]
[Party member Morial the Red Flame has been found in critical condition due to internal injuries]
[All status effects have been reduced to a less critical stage using healing pills from the inventory]
[All party members have experienced a significant gain in power]
[Their bodies have been molded to bear the effect using the Death Qi from the user at the cost of a 10,000 permanent decrease]
[The power of the great black dragon has been assimilated with the user]
[Error]
[The level requirement doesn’t meet the user’s current gain]
[Searching for a solution]
[Optimal solution found]
[Would the user like to use the “Bead of limit”?]
[YesNo]
[Time required to consume the bead: 1 hour]
‘Yes.’ Wei Jun replied as he remembered his earlier conversation with the overseer.
“I may not be able to influence the system to a great extent as I haven’t merged with it, but I still have quite a bit of control in my jurisdiction, so I can do this much at the very least. But do know that this is my limit. I had to exhaust quite a bit of power for that.” Si Jie said while Wei Jun looked at the glowing bead in his hands.
[Bead of limit]
[Tier: Undetermined]
[Description: A magical bead that comes from the accumulation of millions of years’ worth of life force
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
It contains possibilities that are unknown to mankind
Be careful how you use it, though, because such chances don’t come again and again
[Effect: Greatly enhances the consumer’s limit]
[Hint: The user can use it in another method]
Wei Jun gulped.
The other method that was mentioned as unique for Wei Jun was…
[Permanently increases the stat growth limit for each level up barrier]
[Current increase possible: 200%]
[Would you like to change the function or leave it as is?]
“That thing, over there, host, is full of possibilities. Good luck.” Si Jie said his last words before he disappeared. It was like he was there one moment and the next he wasn’t. Wei Jun didn’t even blink, yet he disappeared on his own.
Wei Jun sighed and turned to Wei Jun, who had finally stopped cowering but still refused to move.
‘I so wish I could kill him.’ Wei Jun thought inwardly. Even now, after letting go of Qi, he felt like something was holding him back. It was that vessel. It wasn’t completely his. It wasn’t like he wanted to make the body his own because his ultimate goal was to return, but he didn’t like the feeling of being held back.
“Soon.” Wei Jun said out loud before he disappeared as well, and appeared outside the space where the system update had ended, and many notifications blurred his vision. Among them, the most he was interested in was the last one, and his answer to that was…
“Yes.” Wei Jun said.
[Acknowledged]
[A complete transformation would occur]
[All stats would be rearranged]
[All excess stats would be diverted to increase the Death Qi]
[Would you like to begin?]
[YesNo]
‘Is there something else to implement?’ Wei Jun couldn’t help but ask. There was something else that was bothering him. In his heart, where used to the green power that he had given to Morial, was now something else. Something much more powerful.
[Detected power of the golden dragon]
[Transition to race ‘Draconian’ possible]
[Acquirement of a skill unique to the ‘Great Golden dragon’ possible up to S tier]
[One random golden dragon trait acquisition is possible]
[Would you like to select now and implement for the user?]
[Time for transformation would increase by an hour]
[YesNo]
‘Yes.’ Wei Jun replied and chose the third option. Option one and two were good as well, but he didn’t want to become anything other than a human, and he already had a better skill from ‘Guardian’, so there was no need to choose it as well. He was interested in the ‘Trait’, so he chose that.
[All choices have been acknowledged]
[Transformation will now begin]
[Privilege of the first family member will be activated]
[All remaining power would be diverted to the first party member]
‘What?’
Before Wei Jun could properly ask, let alone get an explanation, intense pain overwhelmed him, and he screamed to the point of losing consciousness.
“FFFUUU****CCCKKKKK!!!!!”

“What is happening?” Xia Lu asked as she felt her power increase once again. The weakness she had been feeling for the past few days disappeared on its own. It wasn’t just her, Natasha, who seemed as pale as if all blood had been sucked out of her, seemed to have regained her vitality as well. And not just that, Xia Lu quickly covered her face and body as best as she could before…
Boom!!!
“Kya!”
A strong mana wave struck her, pushing her against the cold stone behind her. She managed to come out without an injury, but that wasn’t her main concern. Despite being bound, she was feeling a lot better. Her main concern at the moment was Natasha, who…
“AAAAHHHH!!!!”
Screamed at the top of her lungs as if her internals were being rearranged. The mana that was emitting from her crashed back into her with an even greater force before it left her body again, making her scream even louder than before, before it slammed back into her.
She began to bleed from every possible orifice of her body, her skin tone changing and becoming milkier than her whiter skin color before.
Had it not been slowly being dyed in red from her blood, Xia Lu would have thought the scene was the dream of every woman. Natasha was already young but it was like she was becoming younger, not like in the sense of de-aging, but more like, she was becoming something else. Something eternal.
And Xia Lu wasn’t the only one who felt that change was suddenly happening. Something else had happened. She could feel it, from far, far away, someone was coming.
“So he’s here.”
The ancestor spoke as it woke up. The being making its way in the direction of the academy wasn’t the same one he had gleaned from Clarissa’s memories. It was something else entirely.
‘How could someone retain their humanity and not be human?’ He couldn’t help but wonder. As a former human who gave up his humanity once he was blessed with the dragon’s blood, he never thought that there would be anyone who would choose to be a human over the power of the gods.
But the reality was rather disappointing. He wasn’t a god. He was barely a monster or a human. He was just someone whose limits had been enhanced slightly.
As he stepped out of the shadows, the red scales on his body glimmered under the slight sunlight that managed to penetrate that deep underground.
His eyes that seemed like those of a lizard shone in a golden light, the unique eye color of the dragon race. As him stepped forward, the power emanating from him was felt in the surroundings.
But before going out on the battlefield, he had to deal with someone on the inside. Someone who was gaining power to even defeat him with certainty. If he wasn’t quick, he might lose that opportunity forever.
So…
Woosh!
He appeared outside Xia Lu’s cell. He extended his hand to open the door, but…
Zap!
“Ha?” He couldn’t help but be confused. In the first place, his destination of teleportation was inside the cell, not outside of it. And now, the small tendril of lightning that refused to let him inside.
“Soul magic.” He was aware of it. And he couldn’t help but be disappointed by a member of the academy who would do something so foolish. But he was quick to discard. That very member was gaining power to rival him, an eighth circle master. Whether her soul was in danger or not didn’t matter at the moment.
All that mattered was going in.
Zap!
Zap!
Boom!
Two forces clashed. The soul magic inscribed on the walls and the intense mana from him collided, clashed to ascertain dominance over one another.
Had it been anyone other than him, the clash would have ended in the soul magic’s favor.
However…
Thag!
Thang!
BOOMMM!!!
Under his enormous power, the soul magic was defeated, although he had to use a lot of his power.
As he stepped inside, all he heard were screams of agony, as he looked at the girl on the floor who writhed in pain as if her soul and body were being ripped apart.
“Poor child. Had you only chosen the correct path, you would have been an indispensable asset to the academy. Such a pity.” He raised his hand, as if to put the girl in agony, to pull her out of her misery. However…
Bam!
Cold struck him as he redirected his hand to shield himself from an attack that wasn’t much for him to worry about.
“You…” He looked at an asian girl who had obvious fear on her face yet she stood strong, her power rampaging.
“You must have a death wish.”
