Stuck in a Chinese novel - Chapter 445
Chapter 445: Abyss (1)
Chapter 445
A storm approached them. Karl, the headmaster of the ALA, couldn’t take his eyes off what was causing those strong gusts of wind.
A sphere. No more than the size of a man, or maybe a little more, formed at the hands of the young man who was clearly struggling to control it, making it so that the black sphere would follow his instructions, or at least the general direction.
And what was that general direction?
No one needed to be told.
“Defensive positions! Fire at that thing! No one holds back!” Karl yelled, relaying his instructions while he stood up, ignoring his injuries that were yet to be healed, and raised his hands…
“Oh, god of lightning! May your reign be eternal and your thunder roar into the hearts of our adversaries! Grant me the power of your grace!”
“Thunder Storm!”
The sky, covered in lightning, no dark cloud in sight, began to rumble as if angry for being called out in the mortal realm. The sky glimmered, the lightning in the sky that had a strange look without the presence of the clouds began to converge above the desired location of Karl and…
Thraa!!!
The lightning fell. Not caring for who was in its path, it sought to destroy everything in existence. Or at least at what it was pointed at.
The strongest eighth circle lightning spell. The specialty of Karl Williamson, the headmaster of the ALA and the strongest mage in the Britannia kingdom.
Yet…
Kaahh!!!
As if the sky emitted a scream, a scream of fear, a loud noise fell into everyone’s ears as the same fear gripped their hearts as well. The lightning did fall. But there was no effect whatsoever.
The lightning that fell on the sphere that was darker than black was swallowed by the infinite darkness trapped inside the sphere in Wei Jun’s hands, itching and screaming to get out, eager to swallow everything in existence.
But it had worked. Although the strongest attack was swallowed, it managed to shrink the size of the sphere by a foot, making it appear smaller than it initially was.
‘Not yet.’ But Wei Jun didn’t let go of it. If he were to do so, he wouldn’t be able to control it. The death inside the sphere was out of control. If he were to let it go now, when he couldn’t control it, he didn’t know what would happen.
It could even target his allies. That was something he couldn’t afford. So he hoped to keep it in his hands as long as he could to either get the feel of it or for it to calm down so he could decide the direction he wanted to throw it.
He still couldn’t let go of it even when it had shrunk down a lot. And with the follow-up of Karl’s spell, more and more spells began to rain down on Wei Jun, but automatically swallowed by the sphere as if a magnet was pulling them towards it.
And then, finally, the sphere had shrunk down to half its size and it was still going down steadily. But as it shrank down, instead of taming down, the sphere began to crash out more wildly, threatening to even harm Wei Jun.
Wei Jun had no choice but to finally give in to the rage of death and throw it at the castle, now that it was lightly under control.
“Keep firing!”
“Keep firing!”
Karl urged, his fear apparent in his voice. It wasn’t just him; the strong ones could feel the power of it coming towards them. Spells after spells of all kinds fell on the sphere, but the black hole kept swallowing everything in its path.
The ground turned barren, the dust turned to nothingness, and finally, as it reached the people…
“Aahh–!!”
They couldn’t even scream properly before they were swallowed. But if they were only swallowed, perhaps it wouldn’t have been so painful. The sphere, now only around 2 feet in radius, no larger than a basketball, was swallowing only what it touched, leaving the rest intact. Which meant if someone was unfortunate enough to be hit in the middle, or side stomach, or half of their head, they would only have that part swallowed, leaving the rest as it was.
The erratic movement of the sphere also made it difficult to be targeted anymore, and it wasn’t possible to know who it would hit next due to its zig-zag movements.
Thud!

Swirl!!!
A strong whirlwind suddenly occurred in its path, burning in sensation, pulling the black sphere towards it. The sphere was small enough to have lost enough power to be pulled into that whirlwind, pulled exactly in the middle, where it battled the power of the man who had pulled it to itself.
Half face human and the other half covered in red scales, one eye dark and the other one golden and slightly out of eclipse like a lizard, the man willed the sphere of death to make sure it didn’t cause any more deaths.
Zap!
Shwaa!!
A furious battle. Enraged by the attempt to control it, the power of death entrapped in the sphere had nothing but anger that it relayed in the form of destructive noises that shook the surroundings. The draconian remained as expressionless as he was and kept a firm hold on the sphere until it began to shrink.
All said and done, no matter how powerful, it was still Wei Jun’s first attempt, and it was almost impossible for the skill to have been perfected to the point it couldn’t be stopped by anything in its path.
And finally…
Boom!
A strong but small shockwave was emitted from the point of contact, pushing the draconian by a few steps, but nothing more than that. In the end, the one to win was the draconian. The unstable and new form of death had been snuffed out of existence.
[Skill ‘Abyss’ has been negated]
[Death Qi -500,000]
[HP -617]
“Haa… Haa…” Wei Jun panted as a warm glow enveloped him, and his entire body began to heal.
Especially his hands, which were purple for some reason, and also the part that hurt the most.
It wasn’t a skill he could use more than once, even if he had an abundance of Qi. It was a skill that had the power of negating all manner of skills, even when it was unstable and not fully formed. Of course, such a skill couldn’t be used so frequently.
“Impressive. But that seems to be your limit.” The draconian said as he stepped forward. Wei Jun’s allies quickly covered him, ready for the battle, but Wei Jun figured it was finally time to end things.
[A health pill has been consumed]
[A Qi replenishment pill has been consumed]
[Health and Qi have been restored completely]
“I decide my limit, old man.” Wei Jun said as he stood up straight, the strain of the skill used still weighing down on his body, but now that his health and death Qi were fully restored, he was able to bear its brunt.
“You think you can stop me?” The half-draconian asked.
“Yes.” Wei Jun replied.
“Hmph.” The draconian scoffed in disdain and said, “Your allies had the same misconception.”
Wei Jun felt his connection to Morial at its weakest it had ever been, and the fate of the Song Huan was unknown.
“Go and bring them here.” Wei Jun directed Xing Xiaomei, Yan Rong, and Mark Wilson to go to their rescue wherever they were. They nodded and left, leaving Wei Jun and the rest of them to face the draconian and the academy.
“You all. Back off.” Wei Jun calmly instructed the rest. While hesitant, they all nodded, even Xia Lu, who didn’t want to, but there was nothing above Wei Jun’s order.
“My name is Robert Sole.” The half-draconian said as he appeared a little away from Wei Jun, who was just finished collecting himself. “What is your name, young but dishonorable warrior?”
“…” Wei Jun remained silent. The pressure emanating from the draconian was daunting enough for him to forget about everything else and focus on the enemy. The chances of victory were too low, even when he had risen so high in strength. He was just a seventh-grade cultivator. Even when an eighth-grade cultivator had lost, it was enough of an indication that Wei Jun would have a very hard time.
“I see you have to intention of honoring this battle even now.” The draconian spoke as he stepped forward, appearing before Wei Jun in the blink of an eye, but Wei Jun managed to react in time, defending against Robert the draconian’s attack just in time at the cost of being shot away like a broken kite.
“Urgh!” Wei Jun grunted as he managed to come to a stop, only to protect himself again when a fist landed on his
face.
“I have no need to know your name anyway,” Robert said as Wei Jun was thrown away once again, “You boy of Death.”
