Chapter 688: Revolt
“What did you say?” Leon widened his eyes in shock.
“Nathan? Which Nathan?”
“That Nathan. The one rumored to have beasts as his familiars.”
“Is he strong?”
“I don’t know.”
The people were confused. Although Nathan was famous, he was known for a different reason. His combat ability was still questionable because he had never really made a huge contribution to the world with his prowess.
That was why they didn’t know whether to be scared or not.
At the same time, Leon was asking exactly the thing that confused people. “How was it? For you to return here without his head… Was he strong enough to repel you?”
“I have no doubt I would come out on top if it were one-on-one. However, there was one more person. I don’t know who that woman was because she was using a disguise, but she was as strong as Nathan.”
“I had noticed the commotion and wanted to help you, but…” Leon frowned.
“I deemed that escaping would be the best thing at that time. They were just that strong.” Alan nodded. “I will take care of him next time. Meanwhile, you should take care of that woman. If they had more people, they wouldn’t really hide it, especially after I delivered such a blow on him. That’s where there are only two people trying to hunt us down… that’s the only thing I’m sure about.”
“Two people, huh?” Leon gritted his teeth and wanted to say something, but he almost forgot that Ricky had died. He looked down for a moment. “We should—!”
Before coming up with a solution, a man suddenly entered the room, reporting, “Boss. The situation doesn’t look good. The soldiers are surrounding us. They must be planning to kill us here.”
“!!!” Leon clenched his fists. If the soldiers got involved, the situation would become messy. No, there was simply no way for them to escape.
Alan smirked. “Don’t panic. If they’re making their move from the start, it will be clear they will be the one eliminating us. The fact that they are only moving now means this development is already outside their plan.
“Besides, if we fight it out, we can still win. After all, there’s no way the soldiers want to die here fighting us. If we break out and threaten the entire city’s population, we can still beat them.” Alan snorted.
“That’s true.”
“There’s no way the soldiers dare to attack us easily.”
The people nodded their heads, believing that they still had the chance.
Alan turned to Leon. “The problem is what we’re going to do. Blindly charging might result in us getting into a much more troublesome situation. We don’t know their plan.
“First of all, we can probably break out from here, but they still have Garry. He is the main problem for us… someone who is as strong as us. And if we add those two people into the mix, we won’t have enough people to fight against them.
“On the other hand, if we stay here without doing anything, we will starve. By blockading this area, there won’t be any way for us to get the food ration. We can probably last for a few days with our stockpile, but that’s it.
“That’s why you need to make a decision as usual.” Alan shrugged. “Meanwhile, I will be reporting this to my master and see if he can send reinforcements or not.”
Leon turned solemn. The second possibility was probably the worst, considering it might lead to their extermination. So, they really had no choice but to choose the first option.
It would require a lot of sacrifice, but if they succeeded, they would definitely gain control over this city.
The problem would be how to break out.
The fact that the soldiers swiftly surrounded them meant they had prepared to do so. Even if the development had strayed from their original plan, the enemies should still have some assurance in defeating them.
Alan shrugged and walked away. “Whatever you choose… There’s one thing you always need to do. It’s gathering the people here.”
Leon bit his lips. “That’s right. Gather everyone here.”
“Are we going to break through, Boss?”

“Kill those soldiers.”
“Who cares about them?!”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself. Don’t forget that a lot of us have been taken down without us noticing. How many people do we have left?” Leon turned to a middle-aged man in the corner of the room.
“After losing Ricky and the others, I believe we only have half of our original force, including the summoners. There are only ten summoners, including you and Alan.”
“…” Leon’s face darkened. He never thought that the enemies had dealt such a massive blow without them noticing it.
If they still had all those people, they could simply charge without thinking and would still overwhelm the soldiers.
Leon gave an order. “Gather everyone here. We’ll be moving out during the night and eliminating those soldiers. As long as we can capture the mayor, everything in this city will be ours.”
“Oohhh!”
Leon specifically chose to attack them during the night because he could take advantage of the darkness to hide their summoners. By ambushing the soldiers during the night, they should suffer fewer losses as long as they played their cards right.
Little did he know, Nathan was thinking the exact same thing. “Let’s attack them during the night.”
“The night?” Flora and Iris tilted their heads in confusion. Iris asked, “My lord. The darkness might be beneficial, but what will happen if the enemies attack the soldiers?”
“The enemy should have realized that attacking the soldiers during the night will allow them to mask their summoners’ presence, but the same thing can be applied to us. During the dark, they will have a hard time finding us if we mingle among them.
“Besides, the dark can be used for a different thing.” Nathan glanced at Flora. “The key to this operation will be you, Flora.”
Flora pointed at herself, not knowing what she was supposed to do.
“The operation name will be The Maze Runner!”
