Chapter 902: Xingtian
“Xingtian?!” Alavenya raised her head.

“Three sovereigns and five emperors?” Nathan raised his head, recognizing the name.

Mae nodded. “Yes. I heard about this legend back then. When the Flame Emperor and the Yellow Emperor fought for the position of supreme god, there was a warrior who continued the fight even after his master, the Flame Emperor, was defeated.

“Ultimately, Xingtian was defeated and decapitated by the Yellow Emperor. But he regenerated himself and continued fighting, which was expressed by a martial dance.

“His head was buried in a mountain, but he would still fight. Despite being headless, he carried a shield with one hand and a battle axe with the other. He used his nipples as eyes and his bellybutton as a mouth.”

Nathan looked down, falling into deep thought. Xingtian should be able to be summoned, considering he was considered a humanoid but not a complete human.

But it also meant this familiar was not going to be half beast like Alavenya’s other familiars. The reason he suggested Sun Wukong was because he didn’t really want to step away from their respective identities. He was already wrong to suggest Amphitrite to Selena, who wanted to focus on vampires after all.

Alavenya, on the other hand, focused on another aspect.

“Xingtian, huh?” Alavenya looked surprised but interested. “I will summon him!”

“Alavenya? Isn’t it a bit reckless to just accept it? I mean, you…” Nathan tried to persuade her.

However, Alavenya shook her head, explaining. “No. While it’s true that my familiars are half beast, it doesn’t mean I have to stick to it. It’s true that it will be good for my image or anything, but Xingtian might be much more important than it.

“There is one thing that I’m curious about… to the point where I might consider him to be my lifebound familiar.”

“Huh?” Nathan frowned.

Alavenya smiled. “You don’t have to worry about it. I’m still sane when I make that decision. Do you know why I consider him to be my lifebound familiar?”

“No.”

Alavenya raised one finger. “The Dragon Martial Art is too destructive to one’s body. Even my father still feels the destructive power despite training his body to the extreme. Let alone me, who has a much more brittle body.

“That’s why I’m thinking about one way to conquer it… which is to become immortal. I need a familiar who has the regeneration ability like that of an alien as my lifebound familiar.

“If I can get him to share his regenerative ability, I can utilize the Dragon Martial Art to its full potential… a level that my father has never reached.”

“But if you just want regeneration, I can heal you, Sera can help.” Nathan waved his hand.

“No. There will be a time when we can’t fight together. That’s why I don’t think it’s appropriate to rely on you or Sera. I have to be able to stand by myself.”

“You did say we never went to the alien territory alone.”

“You are persistent.” Alavenya pouted. “Besides, there might be a time where I only go with Flora, Noelle, or Selena. So, it can happen. I don’t want to rely on it.”

Nathan looked unconvinced, but Mae smiled at her master, saying, “Master. You should respect her decision. In the end, the one who knows her the best is herself.”

Nathan scratched the back of his head. “Sorry.”

“I understand your concern, so you don’t have to blame yourself for it. Besides, I’m pretty sure you are worried about me breaking my body again and again, right?”

“…” Nathan looked away, which was enough for an answer.

“That’s what happened with my father and mother. My mother ended up getting protected the whole time because my father couldn’t bear to see her suffering.

“As a result, she could never develop her talent to its full potential, resulting in her dying against the alien.

“I see that you are similar to my father. I’m sure that my father is somewhat like Duke Sullivan. Even though I hated you at first, I never found you repugnant or anything. Still, there’s one thing that I wish you could accept.

“Please steel your heart. I don’t want to face the same fate as my mother. I want to walk with my own feet. To do that, I will walk through hell or whatever! No one can stop me.

“That’s why please don’t stop me… so I can continue to become myself… now or in the future.”

Nathan felt goosebumps after listening to her. Her serious expression was like a needle poking his heart.

He might have underestimated Alavenya this whole time. Even he had something he didn’t want to change, no matter the situation.

Nathan clenched his hands into fists. He lowered his head. “I’m sorry. I didn’t put in enough consideration. I have no excuse.”

“What are you talking about? You have done enough.” Alavenya chuckled while stopping him from lowering his head. “Even though I’m the type of person who can’t even grasp 50% of the plan with you being the one explaining it, I still can think for myself.

“This time, I wish to become stronger. It’s thanks to you I’m able to realize it. The greatest gift I receive from you is controlling my anger. I can finally see the path I will walk for the rest of my life.”

Her smug smile put a smile on his face. Nathan nodded in understanding. “If that’s the case, I will help you in pursuit. Make sure you don’t regret that choice.”

“I just have to grow strong enough that I can confidently say I don’t regret my choice.” Alavenya puffed her chest with her fist.

Nathan nodded, satisfied.

…

And that choice translated to her strength.

Xingtian just hacked a warrior class alien into two without much resistance. Noelle dropped her jaw. Although she had the strength to kill a warrior class alien now, never in her wildest dream would she imagine herself killing it in a single strike.

The one who did it was a headless warrior. There were two sharp eyes located on its nipples and a huge mouth centered around its belly button.

The warrior then stomped the ground and let out a deafening roar as if challenging the heavens again.
